I can't believe I didn't mention this, but any 'shelter' (either made or found), allows you to save and sleep.
While this video was being uploaded, I researched whether or not you could drink from lakes, some say you can, I've never been able to, so that goes to show how finicky it is
Build stick, stone and log storage items as soon as you can to save on foraging trips, in addition to upping your carrying capacity.
Use skull lanterns to store rope. As in, place the ghost of a skull lantern, only add the rope, then destroy it [Q] when you want the rope back.
Not all items in the game are balanced in a way that you'd think they would be, don't worry much about it during your first playthrough, it's not obvious, just use what works for you and experiment. This is also why I recommend starting on easy, some items are unusable at higher difficulties, which is just not fun if you aren't familiar with the game already.
I appreciate the "No spoilers" approach. There were a couple things I was hoping you'd explain though, like turning "building destruction" off doesn't save tree-buildings when a monster breaks the tree
I didn't know that because I never turned it off :P
Yeah it's kinda glitchy haha. They can't destroy the building, but the tree falls over and the building crumbles lol

Hello there! Thanks for the no spoiler vid, appreciate that you've done this. Having played the game for maybe 20 mins and died. Rage quit out, felt frustrated for the same reasons you cover here - baffling that the game is a good few years old and they didn't address the issues but hey, second game on the horizon so the game must have something going for it.

I just started this came last week, I'm hooked.. love it! I really wish they wouldn't have added that stupid worm mutant, it doesn't fit the game at all. Other than that I have no complaints
this games got that good old indie studio jankiness but also a really good game thats clearly done with passion. the systems and everything are really addictive but not quite at the top. like you said, many imperfections and questionable choices that decrease quality of life. regardless im having a blast and the cannibals have some of the most amusing ai behaviors. but they are assholes though, repeatedly ganking me when im just trying to find loot. the worst was like 5 pairs of cannibals coming one pair at a time. i almost died maybe 4 times because sometimes my hits just seemingly go through them. i coulda main full maxed out bone armor from them but then it got way too dark by the time i killed all of them and lost the bodies.

I'm guessing the devs couldn't work it out themselves and just plugged them in afterwards.
If I hadn't got it on a cheap sale, I'd be pissed... and I am anyway but at least I can toss it and not feel cheated...
