The one in Florida where the 79-year-old woman died that bridge operator was taken into custody last week and charged with homicide. The police have video proof that she did not follow protocols. On top of that her mother-in-law is her supervisor and right after the accident she told her daughter-in-law to lie to authorities and tell them she did everything by the book. After she sent that message she instructed her daughter-in-law to delete the message. The police were able to recover the deleted message. They are now looking into what charges to bring against the mother-in-law.
Many of these incidents appear to be citizen pedestrian errors i.e. ignoring warning signs of barrier crossings, warning sirens, and flashing lights followed by the car appeared to just be sitting there at the seam where the bridge rises. IDK if it's just me, but I like be safe in my surroundings so I move quickly through railroad crossings while staying vigilant and I get away from multiple cars driving in close proximity to other vehicles because I see the potential dangers guess these folks aren't doing that.
