TWD doesnt hold back they didnt show the beatdown for the cliffhanger, but next episode is probably the most brutal thing I've seen on TV.

Seriously? Have you seen Game of Thrones. In that show people get maimed, raped, skinned, tortured, etc... Way more graphic than the Negan kills.

@240Haromeo93 Yeah I somewhat agree but I would argue that the red wedding in general was the more graphic than Glenn's death due to the implications. Cutting off Robb's head and sewing his wolf's head on to his body, Stabbing his wife in her pregnant belly, Stripping Catelyn's corpse of clothing and throwing her in to the river, throwing torches into the tents of Robb's sleeping soldiers and basically having them burn alive in their tent.
I feel like this episode was so well paced, the tension was amazing from start to finish. TWD got a lot of hate because of the cliffhanger, but I thought it was well done, especially seeing how 7x1 turned out!
The show 'Lost' was one of their inspirations for the cliffhanger, it had so many people going wild over the wait. I feel TWD creators wanted to top that and I feel like they did.

@@redraft5939 Honestly, I think most people didn't like it only because at the time we had to wait 5 months to see who Negan killed. If we only had to wait a week, there probably wouldn't be that much outrage. In hindsight, I feel it worked better because 7x1 was one of the best episodes of TWD ever. Season 7 was when TWD started going downhill, but at least we could say that first episode was amazing. Lol

@@mikeamber2528 I think it's just okay, I mean it's better then Season's 7 & 8. But it's not the same without Rick. Daryl's been doing a great job as the lead though, Alpha's a good villian, & Beta's freakin awesome. There's still a lot of poor & laughable writing though, for example when Aldin shot zombie Gamma instead of Beta when he had a perfect shot at him. I mean I get that Beta shouldn't be killed that way, but why even write in such a dumb scene like that? Lol. Just comparing this to when TWD was at it's peak, it's not the same anymore.

I stopped watching the show for well over a year after the next episode. Just lost the taste for it. Such a complete gut punch. It actually made me physically feel sick to my stomach. These guys really had no idea, which is great as a viewer.
You all are luck that you can just pop in season 7 and find out who Negan killed, vs. those us who saw this had to wait the whole summer just find out what happened.

Asuka that’s what I was saying lol. Also the theory where Negan went to Alexandria and picked up Gabriel and Enid and we’d see his opening scene re shot in 7x01 but he would bringing out Gabe, Enid and I think Spencer, Eric and Tobin and making them join the line up.
S7 EP1 had me fucked up for a VERY long time. Can't wait to see y'alls reaction!

I love how omnious this episode feels and the slow realization of Rick and the squad that, “This might not be as easy as we thought” even though we’ve gotten so used to them winning.
I know people complain about the cliffhanger a lot and I do feel it could’ve been done a bit better (if it went something like this “And you. Are. *cut to black* It.” *end credits play*), but season 6 overall was fucking solid, probably my favorite one.
For me what could made it better is if negan killed the first guy then they'll show it next season the second guy he kills

BrieLovesTea I mean at that point they kinda deserved to, within like 5 months, they dealt with The Governor, The Claimers, Gareth and Terminus co, the hospital fools, and the Wolves and they have finally found an actual home after spending seasons 1-4 on the run the whole time.

This episode messed so many of us up!😖Every terrible situation that Rick and the others found themselves in up until this point,they always managed to somehow fight their way out of it and emerged victorious.(Even though there were still characters we loved that died.☹️)But this,...my god,all hope was ripped out of every one of us and for the first time there was nothing but feelings of disparity,defeat,and horrific suspense about who was killed.Dark times are to follow.😥

I wish they did a deleted scene of Eugene getting captured. I like to think that maybe Eugene found a safe spot and parked for a few mins then Simon and his crew snuck on to the RV. Beat the shit out of Eugene until he told them where Rick and CO were cutting through and so then Simon put Eugene in one of the other cars while Negan got in the RV so Eugene couldn’t see him and drove to the clearing since we learn later in season 7 that Eugene was in that RV for almost a half hr.

My best friend got me into the walking dead and we would always watch it together on Sundays. It was tradition!! He had a whole panic attack at the end of this epispde and it made him stop watching the show.
