Thank for the info. I am 73 and just starting and memory is a challenge. I seem to remember that I was much better at it in college 😅

I started the accordion at age 8. At 17 i stopped and went onto another instrument. I resumed the accordion at age 30. I could remember everything but I was very rusty. It took a year to get back to where I was.
Then I stopped playing the second instrument. I eventually went back to that too after several years. i could not remember how to play it.
    So I relearned it.
It seems that you don't forget what you learn as a child.

I see that adults want to know "the big picture" before going into details. Kids are more into learning details before wanting and/or being able too see the big picture.

An interesting approach on a complex and broad topic. I just started piano accordion a month ago (I’m 43). It’s been an interesting challenge, but immediately the holiday pressures and work kicked it to the side (things I wouldn’t have had to work around as a child) - competing priorities. When I sat down and forced a discipline of daily playing, the acceleration of progress was quite noticeable. Many times though a child will feel ‘forced’ to play an instrument and not have the passion for it that the filter of being an adult can provide/appreciation for it (but also heightened frustration). Some children latch on immediately, but many do not and need to be reminded to practice (something I wish I had in been encouraged to do in hindsight as a child).

I am in my 70's. Had accordion lessons as a child but did not continue with my accordion until several years ago. My natural talent is limited - I find it difficult to memorize or play fast but I practice daily and am doing ok with it.

Hello, I don't know if you can learn singing. There are a lot factors that can determine can you learn singing or fail so I can't help you with that. Sorry!
As for the gym, if you are doing heavy lifting than it may affects your hands, so it is very important to carefully stretch your hands and fingers after the training. I am exercising in a gym and the only time I have problem with my technique is when I am not practicing daily! I hope this helps!
