Dude, everything is ultra CHEAP there! I just built a metal fence/wall for a guy and it was over $5k... And we didn't do the concrete footing you did. That would've been an extra $2k easily. Everything is not only coming around, but looks awesome! You both have great taste.
Looking great Dan. The cost you paid for fencing and concreting far cheaper there than here in the UK, so cost wise so far better where you are. Great post Dan, it's getting there.
A little word of advice , your sliding gate would be better off (when in open position) to be enclosed so that you have no problems with the snow! I did a couple like that in Quebec and we where asked to modify and enclose it because of all the snow that got stuck in the track and mechanism , there would actually ice that would form on the bottom track and the gate would fall off!
I’m going to build a special box around the sliding portion in the future 👍🏻 thanks so much for the advice and input the Canadians sure know as much if not more about winter building than even Russians
@@Wild-Siberia We did have a few things to teach them about oil exploration and extraction during cold winter months, even had some Russian consultants fly in on their own chopper to observe us as we did heli-portable seismic drilling, pretty surreal having people in fancy business suits watching you work while out in the middle of nowhere. Apparently all their oil and gas exploration and exploitation would come virtually to a stand still during the coldest winter months prior to consulting with Canadian companies
Yes, it is worth it. The motorized gate is an excellent idea and very practical when raining or snowing. It may not be as smooth when the ice freezes. Walls and fences make good neighbors.
I think that in hard winter I’ll just do it by hand 😅 even though it’s probably the best time to use the electric portion. I will build something so it’s too with the weather
The gate will be either completely close or completely open. But if in the future it looks like we may need a wheel it will be added once the drive way is concrete

I like more the wooden wall than the other🙂but i get that the metalic wall is safer. About prices it seems ok for me.
looks good !!, in argentina we use this metal wiring called "alambrado" to do the fencing and sometimes we put "ligustrina" plant over it so it basically looks like those european castle that have those plant laberints...its very cheap here but what you did looks good to be honest.
Sheet metal makes me think of cheap and fast build industry buildings or farm sheds. Off course it is so easier to maintain than wood but I prefer the wooden wall 100x more.

looks like a solid fence bud, quick tip for your metal fence " oil and diesel mix in a spray bottle" great for keeping rust away and lubricating them grooves for the gear mechanism :D.
I have limited experience with construction and mixed feelings about walls - mainly about trying to find the ideal balance between aesthetics and efficiency, as well as the broader implications about the people or area it's in. I like metal's ability to withstand or block a huge variety of things, but I don't like that it also blocks many aspects of natural life. I look more at the long term costs/benefits than the initial upfront expenses, and lean towards wood and stone as ideal building materials but they generally require experience, time, and skill to do properly. Another main concern is how it will handle the elements over time, and what type of maintenance (if any) will be required to maintain it, and how big of a hassle will it be to fix vs if it were some other material. Those are just my thoughts... I appreciate you sharing the details of your journey with us who may be thinking about possibly doing the same thing!
yes you could have done the wall, but sometimes its easier to get it done by a fencing firm, and also the time and effort you save is way more valuable to you
Consider the option of building a house not from wood but from aerated concrete blocks. They are cheaper than bricks and easier to lay out. They also have a very high sound insulation property and also a high heat-saving ability, which is several times higher than that of wood. I was surprised myself that aerated concrete blocks are so good in their properties. I am planning to build a two-storey house with a residential attic. As I was told, blocks with a density of D600 can withstand a structure of 4 floors, i.e. I have enough for a basement, 2 full residential floors and an attic ) And all this for 1.5-2 million rubles per 180 square meters 😋
To keep buried lumber/wood from rotting, the surface of any buried part must be burned (charring) beforehand. 🔥 And to seal your charred wood you should use Hemp Oil or Pure Tung Oil. Note: For the posts it is necessary to use a wood species that resists rot well: Iroko, White Oak, Red Cedar, Black Cherry, Maple, Catalpa, Chestnut, Teak, Black Walnut, Honey Locust, Garapa, Kirana, Mahogany, etc.
Interesting, so here in Texas an acre of land is between 65-90k . The fence you built with the concrete would cost between 20-30k so if we use the low side of the estimate you would be looking at paying $85,000.00 for the land and fence. You are $13,000.00 +/- into your project which is a pretty decent deal, especially considering you possibly have a monthly check from the US military. You're ahead of the game. On a side note, have you heard from Lars (survival Russia)? He hasn't posted much.
Looks great!! By the way, hoping you put an upstairs/second story in your future home, even if it is just a large unfinished attic with room for future rooms & dormers/windows.
Bro you are lucky to live in Russia I envy you and thinking about doing the same. Watching your video gives me an idea what to look for when I move from US to Russia.
wood looks nicer from the inside than steel sheets, you could always add some decorative wood on the inside, or even hire a local artist to paint some nice scenes.
You have a beautiful place there brother. I would love to live/visit a place like this. You are building something quite special, that is an excellent fence. Be careful, if that wood you are going to use as firewood was treated it could put off harmful fumes when burned.
You paid roughly 30% more than we did 3 years ago for the gate, as a comparison of price increases. The metal is in line with what we just paid in Crimea - which is about 40% more than four years ago, and 10% more than in this last spring.
$1200!$!$! Here in the U.S. you would have gotten 4 posts, 4 small bags of concrete, 8 2x4x12's and 50 pickets...that fence you got would have cost $15-20k here in Austin TX (2 million rubble)
As far as costs going up, there is a shortage of 2 million workers in commercial industry in Russia. End outcome is pay rates have gone up and so have prices of goods. Maybe some of North Korean workers coming in will help.
The gates and wall are in the concrete, they are metal, welded, looking pretty and costs $1500... Where in the world it will be cheaper than this? The cost of just the job itself in USA will be times bigger than the total price you've paid in Russia.
You are doing the right thing very sensible. You can cannot compare these prices in Russia to other countries as wages are probably lower there in comparison to others.

Sorry, i'm too lazy now for translation work, so i write it in russian =)

Even after an entire year, torn ligaments and all, I have yet to get an opening to go see a PCP in order to get surgery on my shoulder with hopes for rehabilitation taking another 2 years after that!
That's just how clogged up and backed up our system here is on the West Coast.
And I live in Portland. One of the biggest medical outlets for College graduate going into the field.
Russia, Asia? This recuperation time would be a mater off a year or less, surgery and all if I was already situated there.
That's a lot better then 4-5 years on what the private out of pocket (Read: *EXPENSIVE* ) specialists have quoted me here.
Not to mention the costs.
Just my transportation costs can rack up to $100 a day, and that's ONLY for going maybe 10 miles.
(to hard to drive some days & extreme pain and disorientation)
It's really crazy that I have to make close to 10k a month, just live as a single guy with a NORMAL to subpar living standard.
That's the Rub of living in the west.
You really do have to make close to $350k a year as a single man in order to have the same kind of life you can have elsewhere in the world on the silently above median salary that people get and are considered middle class elsewhere.
Bar none, don't worry about the costs, worry about what you can do wherever you go, and see how your value as a man will be beneficial to your new country of residence.
Chances you already have some skills that might be in demand. (Farming for instance/ Tractor operator etc)
yall are doing a jam up job on y'all's property !!Keep up the good work and the great content.

Slo basically Russia is way cheaper than the West and the workmanship is 1000% time's better.
The work they do is beautiful and professional
Good luck and wishing you all the best 😊
Thank you! You too!
All money that you spent so far, I spend in 1 month in US, its still cheap in my opinion and nature is like paradize around you, I can imagine the view from your second floor.
We will have one floor for now but in summer the views are still beautiful
Thank you my friend 🙏🏻
My friend the price information was said exactly how you said in the video and yes for sure the cost still is good compared to America even with American wages
Like it your fence, and you choose a good color. It's lot of work, but you can build your dream house. Whatever you spend, it's the investment in property. Wish you all the best to you and Ksenia! 👍 🇨🇦
Thanks my friend
Dude, everything is ultra CHEAP there! I just built a metal fence/wall for a guy and it was over $5k... And we didn't do the concrete footing you did. That would've been an extra $2k easily.
Everything is not only coming around, but looks awesome! You both have great taste.
Thanks so much for your input and comparison my friend 🤝🏻
Looking great Dan. The cost you paid for fencing and concreting far cheaper there than here in the UK, so cost wise so far better where you are. Great post Dan, it's getting there.
Thanks for the input bro! I hope all is well with you over there as we enter winter I think it gets cloudy over there so sending Siberian sun
Everything is coming together very nicely. Congratulations! I enjoyed this video. 😊❤
I appreciate that!
Wow! Coming along great brother!🎉
Yes I can’t wait to have friends over in the future I’m planning out the banya 🤣
@ 💥✊🏼
Dan, you got off super cheap. I would not be complaining. Have a great build.
No one was complaining. I don’t think you understood the dialog right thank you for watching 🙏🏻
Daniel that’s a deal what you paid for the concrete foundation and rebar .. In the US it would cost a small fortune.. 🇷🇺❤️
Eric Piccione says the cost is 70% material; 30% labor. In USA, it's the other way around. Eric treats his Russian wife perfectly unlike Dan.
How would you know how I treat my wife 🤣
🤝🏻
@@Wild-Siberia Dan, some people are just morons and attention seekers. Dont mind them . Admiring your adventure from Queens, NYC
Makes neighbors strangers. Keeps bears out worth that for sure.
@@joycehaines2055 not at all, we have close neighbors good friends 😂
I think it is very important to install some wheel at the beginning of the gate.
The gate will be either completely close or completely open. But if in the future it looks like we may need a wheel it will be added once the drive way is concrete
I like more the wooden wall than the other🙂but i get that the metalic wall is safer. About prices it seems ok for me.
Good job man metal fence looks awesome, I like the color
I believe you have done very well for yourself so far. That wall is impressive. I am jealous.
Come visit with everything is done ☝🏻
A kind of industrial gate 👍 In Europe, for such a price you can only buy a simple door 😁
There’s nuance to everything, do it yourself it can be done wrong and you’ve wasted more than what you wanted to save. To each his own
@@Wild-SiberiaI doubt that many people would be able to build that gate themselves! The fence - yes. maybe, but the gate!
Dan, buddy, glad to see you😊
🤝🏻 my friend
Beautiful work my friend. I'm sure it will last you a lifetime.
Yes for sure outlast me
Thank you! 🙏🏻
looks good !!, in argentina we use this metal wiring called "alambrado" to do the fencing and sometimes we put "ligustrina" plant over it so it basically looks like those european castle that have those plant laberints...its very cheap here but what you did looks good to be honest.
🙏🏻
🙏🏻genial!
Looks great 👍🏼
Sheet metal makes me think of cheap and fast build industry buildings or farm sheds. Off course it is so easier to maintain than wood but I prefer the wooden wall 100x more.
Yea probably but it’s not cheap at all
Well put it this way, the old wall really needed replacing - may as well have a sturdy long lasting replacement.
Yes for sure I don’t want to worry about the wall anymore and start focusing on our house build 🙌🏻
Shit man, you know what that would have cost in the state? You’re winning!
🙌🏻🙌🏻
Rather sad that high strong walls have to put up between neighbors. In small town America we don't have that. Cities here are very different :)
Russians love privacy so its everywhere in Russia
Well this wall is for animals more than it is for humans believe it or not 😅
I think you guys are doing a great job!
Thanks so much!
On the places I have owned I did most myself and I also helped good friends with some work on theirs.
Nice of you to help people
Nice
looks like a solid fence bud, quick tip for your metal fence " oil and diesel mix in a spray bottle" great for keeping rust away and lubricating them grooves for the gear mechanism :D.
Amazing advice thank you so much!
I appreciate you sharing the details of your journey with us who may be thinking about possibly doing the same thing!
yes you could have done the wall, but sometimes its easier to get it done by a fencing firm, and also the time and effort you save is way more valuable to you
That’s right
Nice Video. Nice house next door too!
🙏🏻🙏🏻
Consider the option of building a house not from wood but from aerated concrete blocks. They are cheaper than bricks and easier to lay out. They also have a very high sound insulation property and also a high heat-saving ability, which is several times higher than that of wood. I was surprised myself that aerated concrete blocks are so good in their properties. I am planning to build a two-storey house with a residential attic.
As I was told, blocks with a density of D600 can withstand a structure of 4 floors, i.e. I have enough for a basement, 2 full residential floors and an attic ) And all this for 1.5-2 million rubles per 180 square meters 😋
well worth the money buddy, do it right....do it once ! that would cost minimum 10 times that money here in the UK
That’s right do it right do it once it’s why for such projects no way I’m doing them alone
Awesome tips, thanks for sharing
U was really right with word "in america live going faster"
I like what you did. Good Job ❤
Thanks a lot my friend
Hi Daniel, we met today. This is some high quallity fence! I wonder what kind of car you would like to own also.
You are awesome bro!!!
Very good price considering you have quality and electric gate. Muy bueno señor
Gracias 🤝🏻
Ten minutes from Lake Baikal…cost: priceless!
Yes I love it here it’s why we wanted a house here in the future I hope to host friends and family
He’s a good friend of mine, we’ve done videos together 🤝🏻 he’s a busy man
Great looking fence! Love the color and the design.
Thank you, I appreciate your compliment!
Looks great!! By the way, hoping you put an upstairs/second story in your future home, even if it is just a large unfinished attic with room for future rooms & dormers/windows.
I don’t have the money for that unfortunately
Thanks brother. Semper Fi.
No thank you for watching brother it means a lot to see devil dogs here Semper Fi
When you need to buy welding equipment and so on..... Then you also spend money. OK you still can use that later or sell it.
Building construction is always costly. Glad to watch the updating of your future home. Love for Xenia. God bless your good works. 😊

Happy veterans day. Dan

Bro you are lucky to live in Russia I envy you and thinking about doing the same. Watching your video gives me an idea what to look for when I move from US to Russia.
You don’t have to think about moving come visit in summer first I’m sure you’ll enjoy 👍🏻
wood looks nicer from the inside than steel sheets, you could always add some decorative wood on the inside, or even hire a local artist to paint some nice scenes.
By the way, Happy Marine Corps birthday! SEMPER FI!
Hey man. How’s the weather? It’s cold rain here.
Brother it’s been sunny sunny sunny about 0-10 degrees Siberian winters Rock
You have a beautiful place there brother. I would love to live/visit a place like this. You are building something quite special, that is an excellent fence. Be careful, if that wood you are going to use as firewood was treated it could put off harmful fumes when burned.
You paid roughly 30% more than we did 3 years ago for the gate, as a comparison of price increases. The metal is in line with what we just paid in Crimea - which is about 40% more than four years ago, and 10% more than in this last spring.
That $3000 fence would be atleast $15,000 in Canada
no way!
$1200!$!$! Here in the U.S. you would have gotten 4 posts, 4 small bags of concrete, 8 2x4x12's and 50 pickets...that fence you got would have cost $15-20k here in Austin TX (2 million rubble)
🤯
the invest is really good and its worh it(its actually not so expensive) , letting the proffesionals do it was also good for the front wall.
Nothing beats a privacy wall. If children are in the future, definitely. Great investment if well built.
Yes for sure the wall is actually like this because of wild random animals that roam 🤣
just for a wooden fence and placing it yourself it would be more expansive here in the Netherlands
Wow thanks for the input!
It's good. Maybe a little bit expensive, but doesn't matter. At least quality is good.❤❤❤
As far as costs going up, there is a shortage of 2 million workers in commercial industry in Russia. End outcome is pay rates have gone up and so have prices of goods. Maybe some of North Korean workers coming in will help.
I wish all your dreams come true friend….. I enjoy watching your journey
Thank you so much for your kindness
you know it's not that expensive so it's not bad investment
For crying out loud. Eugene OR here. Paid $2,000 for a fairly short wooden fence a few years ago. What you built there would cost well over $10,000.
Woooow
Dan in Australia we call them fences.
I have no clue what to call things anymore I’ve not used proper English in so long 🤣
Very affordable compared to US prices. Definitely worth it.
Russians have more spending money than Californians at least where I’m from. Sure Californians make more money but pay way more in rent insurances and other bills. It’s all relevant.
I hope you understand that wages mean nothing if you’re paying more it evens out
Sorry, i'm too lazy now for translation work, so i write it in russian =)
@@sold_ludm54 ели хорошие.
Off topic question for the Ruskys here: Does the QWERTY American Keyboard layout map to the same letters as the cyrillic alphabet?
Like when I type the letter Q, is it your version of the cyrillic/ Russian "Q" ?
I'm still amazed how Japanese or Chinese can be typed out or how their keyboards work as it almost seems like their language is hieroglyphic like.
I'm still wondering how it is in Sanskrit?
@@MickeyMishra not similar at all. The only matching symbol sharing one button is "C", but only shape of the symbol looks identical. Cyrillic C equals to english S, and english C equals to cyrillic Ц.

Even dots and commas placed in different places.
We needed to raise the ground just a little bit more so we needed the concrete
