Larry,I respect everything you’ve done for our great nation and all the sacrifices you’ve made to get into the unit,but I respect you even more for dropping some weight and getting back into some semblance of shape.Not only do you shut down the haters-but it’s better for your health.I served too and all the years(14) of eating MRE’s-I developed diabetes.With just continued exercise and a good healthy diet low in carbs and high in protein-I am off all my diabetes meds and am feeling far better.

I use strong hand thumb because I can keep the gun aim on my target while I let that slide release go it’s way harder on a stock slide release but once you have an extended slide release you can do it with more ease.

But yea you have to have really big hands and strength in your fingers to do it if you have smaller hands and your thumb can’t reach that pedal that’s way better do both hit the slide release and pull the slide back at the same time you know it’s gonna slam foward no matter what

Agreed, about the 'forget the empty mag' approach. I just watched a video of a competition shooter saying to do that, but that's competition, not life-or-death.

Yea dropping the mag makes the reload 1/3 faster

Strong hand thump is the most efficient (if your thumb can reach the slide stop lever). Its all about training it correctly. If some can put their rounds on target with a balance of speed and accuracy while checking work through the sights and insert a square tube into a square hole they can use their primary strong hand thumb to release the slide. Stay on top of the wave of change or get covered up by it.

Why do you prefer stronghand thumb slide release the least? It feels more awkward to me. Of course l don't have the experience you do.
