    at 2:39 you said they will do 15 years at 50% duty cycle. I am glad you had it written correct 5 years at 50% duty cycle

    One year to do that install?? I was thinking two weeks not including permits. Flex, conduit and cable management looks a little messy to me. Cool project though! So many new batteries out there today, not sure what type I would like to spec every time.

      Thanks for your comment! You are right - the inverter and battery installation took just over a week. The customer was planning the project for over a year, and had to pour concrete, build the metal building, build concrete block building, and insulate the entire building with spray foam insulation - and they live full time in another state!

    Is this inverter compatible with Lifepo4 lithium battery?

    Why do you have both the sunny island inverter chargers and the sma 7000 inverters? Are the 7000s configured for 220 while the Sunny islands are for 120vAC and charging?

      The system is an AC coupled system, its more efficient because the solar power can bypass the batteries and join the sunny islands inverters on the output side effectively creating a mini grid.
      So loads get power directly when there is solar generation, and at the same time that Sunny Island can reverse charge the batteries.

    I'm still trying to figure out the system logic there. Off grid. Using gridtie inverters to output 240ac. However they won't energize due to anti-islanding circuitry unless they see 240ac. So the Sunny Island inverters are providing the AC from the battery bank? Then power is combined? What? That's a helluva lot of hardware cost. Why not use charge controllers off the solar panels to the battery bank instead of gridtie inverters? Odd. So in theory here you are using the Sunny Islands to create the grid power, then add to it with the Sunny Boys yet draw off that same grid by Sunny Islands to charge the battery bank?

      Goog notice bro..his way to connect or use grid tie better cuz..
      He will never face any problems to connect the pv array..
      If he use your advise.. He faced
      The amperage and high voltage..

      The Sunny Island can be run in many configurations... as the name suggests, they are _designed_ to create an isolated powered system. They can draw power from the grid (or a generator) to charge batteries and supply load, use their batteries to contribute to the grid (i.e. _be_ the grid), or operate completely free of any grid (external AC power.) SMA recommends an "AC tied" system, where any solar is attached to the AC load side. (download the manuals for the sunny island and sunny boy systems for diagrams.)

      @@jfbeam Haha... thanks for the reply. I have recently installed 2x7kw and 2x6kw sma sunny boy series41 inverters as well as two sunny island 6048's. My 24.5kwh nissan leaf pack is all together (56vdc). I'm still shopping for a decent BMS. Neither of the two available options are particularly affordable. Unfortunately it has to be able to communicate RS485 to the sunny islands so you can't just use some cheap stuff off ebay. SMA hasn't been particularly helpful. Sure they have lots of manuals but very few actual detailed writeups of installed systems similar to my configuration. The hardware is amazing, but SMA's website and youtube channel leaves a bit to be desired.

      It seems to be a German thing, very good products but not practical, not much flexibility if you want to use EV battery cells etc.
      This kind of setup is completely unaffordable for the average person,
      And doesn't really make much sense.

  • @funkinflugen

    What does a system like that cost, excluding the solar array and the building it is housed in?

    • @GadgetVision
      @GadgetVision 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      It isn't affordable to average people neither worthy going off grid. You won't live to see money back from solar power investment.

      This system is a minimum 75k$ system. It is probably more as the person who installed it almost certainly needed to be a licensed electrician, which I would assume to bring the cost up to 90k$ to 110k$ depending on the level of the electrician.

    • @AJ-ox8xy
      @AJ-ox8xy 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you are just talking cost of the batteries, controllers, and inverters that is probably about half the cost so 35k$ to 55k$.

    • @thecaptain8773
      @thecaptain8773 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AJ-ox8xy I bought solar panels from China for 40 cents per watt shipped to Grand Bahama island. I later bought 4 brand new sunny boy sunny island SI6048-US-10 for 5750 delivered to texas 78660. I just need to find some batteries at a good price and I will have a 21kwatt system parts for far less than your low end of 35k. Sure, if you buy everything retail, ignore China/Alibaba and don't look for deals on Ebay then it can easily cost far more.
