I can still hear my father saying this is a white man's society as we discussed race relations and I was taken aback because he always was kind and fair with people. So, having grown up in Minnesota in the twenties and thirties, I have to realize he was a product of his times. I now think he meant our country was founded by and for people from English backgrounds, wealthy men, and white men who tried to form a new form of government, get consensus, and work on improvements tomorrow.
