Margaret, you have been part of my life since "Never for Nothing", challenging me and my musicianship on "Immigrants Daughter" and "Simple House", alike. You even lent an ear to a song I sent you recently, encouraging me to keep at it. Jennifer, I had left the world of CCM by the time you came around. My sister was a huge fan. After you came out and showed us all what true Christianity and humility looked like. Boldly, fearlessly, choosing to have faith in the promise, and stepping into a different world. Well, that is when I caught up with you. "Dive" spoke to me, as did each song on that album. Hearing and seeing this duet felt like a full circle moment, a new revelation, an example of what love can do. I beg you two to join forces, make an album centered around eternal truths. Both long-held, or always known. New insights, tales of woe and caution, or of deepest gratitude. I have been missing Maggie B's gift and energy, the way I find myself praying, singing, being healed, and caught off-guard by her willingness to connect the earthbound heartbreak to the eternal love. Jennifer your casual, frank approach to the magic and abundance of love, it's sour taste, poisoned and rotting on the vine or butterflies and winks, would give weight, balance, and a new framework to support Maggie B's hymns, prayers, and conversations with God. As a songwriter I write about what I know, my struggles, desires, joys, heartaches, etc. All these years I never heard Margaret sing of love or loss, in the human to human, in the flesh and bone. Her devotion and purpose seemed to be so focused and single-minded, interpersonal relationships leading to experiences of such emotional significance requiring a song, must not have happened. I hope there are no regrets but I fall in love 10 times a day, if your heart and soul ever did touch another soul, I know Jennifer could help you excavate the story. Similarly, after the church and Christian community shunned you Jennifer, I know it must be hard to let yourself to enter the space where your songs of faith and the eternal once were sung aloud, but I know Margret Becker has a way to bring sad eyes to look up and maybe hard feelings to tears for heaven. Letting prayer, and promise be renewed with honesty that's her strength. Ok. I'm done. I hope you guys really do let magik and true love give eternal significance to human hearts and sitting with the soul waiting for the healing hand of God.
James, that was BEAUTIFUL! Thank you for sharing that, and I agree with everything you said about Jennifer and Maggie. Send it to Jenn via her Patreon account. She replies to everyone there personally.
Now THIS is what Divinely-inspired musical talent sounds like-so powerful and pure that nothing beyond the blending of voices and guitars is necessary. Jennifer, you have been my favorite artist since the moment I first heard your voice back in your early days in CCM; and your talent has flourished exponentially, both as a singer and a songwriter, as you have honed your craft. Thank you for returning to us, for continuing to share your God-given gift with us. We are truly blessed for the experience.
