- Nigerian Afrobeat singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has dragged Sophia Momodu to the Lagos State High Court over the custody of their daughter, Aurora Imade Adeleke. Momodu is the mother of Davido’s first child, Imade. In the suit marked LD/1587PMC/2024 and dated April 17, 2024, Adedeji Adeleke was listed as the applicant with Ms Sophia Momodu as the sole respondent.
Davido, via the suit, urged the court to give an order granting joint custody of Imade. He also urged the court to give an order that will grant him unfettered and unrestricted access to Imade. The entertainer noted that despite his relationship with Momodu which led to the birth of Imade had ended some years ago, he has continued to provide all necessary payment for the wellbeing of the child. Davido listed that he has been responsible for the payment of all the school fees of Imade and he also has been providing money for the rent of the apartment where Momodu resides with their daughter.
He, however, accused Momodu of making outlandish demands to frustrate him. The singer noted that Momodu turned down his offer of an N200m worth apartment in a condominium gated community with a swimming pool and 24-hour power and water supply at Oniru, Victoria Island, Lagos. He said, “The respondent rejected the offer to stay and live at the above-described secured Oniru apartment, which had been purchased already, but demanded that I continue to pay N5,000,000 annually for a rented facility as my own contribution towards my daughter’s accommodation. Davido said to ensure that the interest of Imade was well-catered for, “I bought a Range Rover Sport Utility Vehicle for the use of the child and the respondent to meet the transport needs, including transportation of the child to and from school, etc.

Co-parenting isn't impossible. Sadly Sophia wants more than that. She wants Davido. There are so many single mothers who do not get a thing from the father of their child. She needs to find herself a man and move on from the father of her child.
There are usually no rules around co-parenting. There are several other baby mamas for Davido and they don't make noise. If Davido ignores her, nothing will happen. Now he is married like most of the women on this programme. Women don't want their husbands in the house of their baby mamas so the issue of his presence in the life of Imade within her home may never happen.

How can another woman or mother say a man is doing the mother of his child a favor by providing for his child, and she should have rather terminated the child. Were you there when they were engaging in premarital sex? This is sickening to watch and hear. We should fear GOD in whatever we say or do because the younger ones are watching, and you are there encouraging abortion, your female child could be watching too. Life is a boomerang! Stop promoting the wrong narrative. Both parties involved in pre-marital sex should be ready to face the consequences of their actions, and not just the woman alone. Age is just a number, I have seen older women who are not as smart or wise as their younger counterparts. So, the issue of she was older doesn't even matter here at all. That is a nearly 40 year old woman. She is anything but a victim. She has benefited a lot from this transactional relationship she has with the father of her child. As the older person in this relationship she needs to try to resolve this for the sake of her child. Davido will likely never get equal physical custody as the child’s mother. It’s common sense. He is a world entertainer. He cannot parent her properly. He would have to use employees to raise her. Only a judge being influenced would say that’s a great idea while her mother is right there in Lagos. At best, he should get mandatory set time with her. For example, when school’s not in session, the court can mandate that she be with her dad. The court can also ask him to make himself available to his child in the period that she is with him. Children need to be watched and you cannot put it all on your domestic staff. No one will protect and keep your child safe better than you. He is doing the right thing by requesting mandatory time with his child.
Only a wicked person will support that Sophia should allow their daughter to live with the father. He is an entertainer and he will not have time. We still remember what happened in the past, even though no one wants to say it out loud because we all felt bad when it happened. The child should stay with her mum and her father should visit at scheduled times.

While I agree that the mother would have enough time for her more than David there’s also something to point out. Those kids are mostly cared for by nannies, the nannies are the unsung heroes that raise these kids; that is why they pay a lot for them. Sophia cannot say she’s there for the kid 70% of the time, you can think it’s a lie because of how often you see them together on social media but let’s not forget that there’s real life and there’s social media. Change diapers, attend school events virtually when he can, visit her at the business he help start up in her name, take her on random father daughter dates, I have seen videos of him singing to her and praising her publicly to boost her self esteem, and even do hair care day. Let’s not forget that there was a time when Imade was the most lavished celebrity kid with a lot of expensive gifts even on days that is not her birthday. The school fees, trips and many other expenses were on him.
