You want to make sure you put a strip of that rubber(?) floor mat stuff (same thing used for the wing walk) on top of the step, otherwise that primer will be worn off before you can say, "Huh?"

I do like the shape of the plane-but there was more to it: 1: slider canopy (not available on 14) 2: smaller than 14 (actually a benefit for me and my limited build space) 3: roughly $20k less than 14 (that figure has grown larger now…) 4: side-by-side (versus tandem of 8) 5: aerobatic (versus 9) 6: and of course it being my dream plane in the 2000s doesn’t hurt!
Hi friend, could you tell me what the name is, what those pins you mentioned are for? Could I build the aircraft using blueprints?, what rivet was used?
I think you’re speaking about clecos. They’re like pins, but are temporary sheet metal fasteners. They hold the pieces in position until ready for riveting. The plans provided don’t contain enough information to build a plane from scratch. A kit would be necessary, and available from Van’s Aircraft. Perhaps, with extensive fabrication experience, and detailed enough plans, one could make the plane straight from blueprints. That’s is, after all, how it used to be done.

Yeah, before they get use I will get some tape on them.
If you create an account on van’s site with your serial/build number, you’ll have access to all the KAI pages in pdf form.
