I found the new carburetor he mentioned in this video to be faulty. The mower would only run with the air filter off. Otherwise the engine would surge and then die.
@@joanpeters9330 there are a few possibilities. You may have a fuel flow issue, a choke issue, or an issue with the fuel bowl float actuator. Thats the part of the carb the wire links to.
Looks like your gas filter is installed backwards and isn't the OEM type with the screen instead of pleated paper. I recommend installing a fuel shut off valve anytime you remove the gas hoses to work on a carburetor. I have the 19HP Kohler Courage on my 2017 Troy Bilt Bronco and installed a Briggs and Stratton 1/4" fuel shutoff valve so I don''t have to worry about fuel dilution of the engine oil if the choke valve sticks open while the mower is sitting unused. You also don't have to remove the side rail to get the carb off. You can remove the front carb mounting stud and rotate the carb to disconnect the linkages and clear the frame with the solenoid on the bottom. Thanks for the video.

your fuel filter is on backwards. maybe that's why your having issues also....
