Giclée printmaking: Overview at Fine Art Editions

John S. Hockensmith has been involved in giclée printing since 1996 and understands the aesthetic judgments required to meet museum expectations. This video is an introduction to Gicleè (zhee-clay) printmaking at Fine Art Editions. Narrated by Hockensmith, this presentation attempts to differentiate proper digital art printmaking with true color fidelity from other forms of ink-jet-generated reproductions. This is the beginning of a series of short videos that will highlight differences; why some Gicleè prints are excellent and worthy of "limited edition" status while other Gicleè prints give the artwork original a disparaging representation. Can you tell a little about the life span of such print on cotton canvas?

Dorjee Tsetan I read somewhere that a giclée print can last from 100 to 200 years. But yeah that would depend on the material it's printed on.
