  • John S. Hockensmith has been involved in giclée printing since 1996 and understands the aesthetic judgments required to meet museum expectations. This video is an introduction to Gicleè (zhee-clay) printmaking at Fine Art Editions. Narrated by Hockensmith, this presentation attempts to differentiate proper digital art printmaking with true color fidelity from other forms of ink-jet-generated reproductions. This is the beginning of a series of short videos that will highlight differences; why some Gicleè prints are excellent and worthy of "limited edition" status while other Gicleè prints give the artwork original a disparaging representation. The video run is 8 min and 30 sec.

Dorjee Tsetan I read somewhere that a giclée print can last from 100 to 200 years. But yeah that would depend on the material it's printed on.
