i just give drugs to Vi and watch the carnage. first and only playthrough i did was on hardmode. by drugs i mean the charm where you do more damage while poisoned, while in general focusing on poison and damage.

By the way, the game was designed FOR hardmode, it is the intended difficulty by the dev and what it was balanced for. I don't think it makes the game much longer, unlike the menu code difficulties (which are really satisfying to get through and add a ton of replayability, there's even a built in randomizer) This playthrough is about the voices though and you guys are doing incredible work
Speaking from what I experienced literally just this session, yes, I can confirm, it ABSOLUTELY makes the game much longer. Being able to deal 1 point of less damage to almost every enemy adds like 5% to every battle along and I can already tell I'm going to be shaving off at least three hours on my first playthough just by not having to run back out to town to heal six times each chapter.
It's more HP that's jacked up than Defense usually, and Chapter 1 at least can still be cleared pretty handedly if you can get the Action Commands down, but even still the fact that you're always taking damage in Hard Mode absolutely makes the game much harder to manage without losing time, which wouldn't be great for a voiced stream series. Shame about the free Medals, though...

When I played this kabbu was my mvp. I put all the attack on him since he ignored 1 defense and basically all enemies on hard have defense. Leif and Vi were really just there for utility. Great game.
It was Vi for me; I knew immediately I'd be using the common paper-mario strat of stacking attack bonuses on her to trick out her multi-hit skills. By the end I could 1-2 shot most of the game's bosses, hitting on turn one for around 60 damage... though Kabbu WAS the ultimate MVP due to his taunt and def-stacking being the only way to properly survive the endurance battles like the boss rushes, cave of battles, and the two quests that had like 15-enemy encounters.
Jello you should go back to the theatre in the ant kingdom and talk to one of the npcs there. You get cute dialogue and a quest item you’ll need for later in the game
They’re pretty far in the game now, so I think I’m free to say this (SPOILERS FOR CHAPTER 6 BELOW) In Chapter 6, you can buy an item called “Longleg Summoner” from the Tarantula Wizard’s tower’s gumball machine looking thing (for 10-19 berries each). The Longleg Summoners can then be sold to the other Spider NPC, Pinky, for double profit (37 berries each if I remember correctly). Load up your entire inventory with Longleg Summoners, and sell all of them to Pinky to make a ton of money pretty quickly (I think like about 300-400 per trip)
PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: THE BANK IS STILL AWESOME, USE IT! Seriously, it was only nerfed down to 2/3rds efficiency with a max cap, and at max it's STILL 75 berries every half hour which is PLENTY good! If you're a completionist (and use the Hard Hits badge like I did), then with smart investing you'll actually max out the bank before you finish all the game's content most likely.
Moments for myself 2:41:42 delivery by Leif was peak 2:42:16 the side chatter was amazing The voice acting was just on point. Securely gonna binge watch this over the next few days!
Leif kinda reminds me of orik in steam world quest, mystery elegant cool guy you rescue relatively early in the game and all that. Propably has some of the coolest combat mechanics too if I had to guess. Edit: yep I was right

According to the Q and A section of the instruction manual on the physical copy of the game, Vi is pronounced like Bee. But in all honesty, I prefer Vi as in Violet because that's her full name. Edit: This was made before Jello looked up how to pronounce Vi's name. Either way, I still prefer calling her Vi as in Violet.
The way I did it was I kept both the Hard Mode and Hard Hits badges on through the whole game, but I only required myself to fight any given enemy spawn once. It's easy enough to dodge past them after that (especially if they're weak enough to fall to Bug Me Not), and if you spec your team for offense the fights really don't take long anyway. To each their own though, I wanted the max challenge of what the standard game would offer.
So I played this on Hard Mode first time around and yeah, money is hard to come by and what money you get has to go back to items but I kinda like that. I find it a bit irksome at times in other games where you end up with loads of money but nothing to spend it on.

Once you learn to make Crisbee donuts, you can sell them to be 5 berries in profit. Do that continuously to get infinite berries.

I'm playing persona 5 rn, finally got it on sale recently and have been DEVOURING the game, it is SO good, i'm in the shido dungeon now
Note about Hard Mode: it was the original Difficulty the game was designed around. Normal mode is technically easy mode.
