Eduard Vitte gonna have to read that book!! I just did a video on this and was curious if anyone else even knew about this crazy a$$ hate monger and racist who destroyed our country in this. Actually 29 out of 30 doctors he consulted said he was basically insane and a liar and wrong but ONE dr said it could be possible and he ran with that one guy. So, I did a deep dive and was horrified. I first heard of him when I read the book “Chasing the Scream” by Johan Hari and I was horrified!!
Anslinger was gonna lose his job when Prohibition was over so he had to find something to replace the alcohol, and he also wanted bigotry to prevail bc he couldn’t stand to lose his white privilege. I’m so glad someone else is talking about this bc what?? 87 years later and NOTHING has changed!! I’m a Recovering addict and for the rest of my life I’ll have a stigma attached to me. Even though that was only 6 years of my 37 on this earth AND I’m now a stay at home suburban house wife. It never goes away and something needs to be done. Obama made great strides and tried very hard to change things but there wasn’t enough time.
Am a victim of the war on drugs and it has ruined my life since I was 20.... am 25 now and it keeps getting worse. I can't get a good job or leave the country etc....
Healthcare for profit and the Nixon HMO tapes about giving less healthcare to make more money and for profit charter schools and religiohs schools funded by taxpayers ( no seperation of church and state for Yeshivas and Racist private schools SMH
Do you mean how their lives were ruined by being imprisoned and thus losing their jobs, and their homes because they couldn't make payments on mortgages/rent and utilities? Or do you mean that their lives were ruined because their Karen neighbors disapproved of how they spent their lives?
Once you have that cannabis possession charge getting jobs becomes hard life loses meaning then harder drugs help numb that pain. So it could be conceived as a gateway in that sense
It's not just about power. In social venues, places where drugs are used, white women were mixing with the "colored folk." It created a social stigma to keep the races separated.
