I watch Hank when I'm feeling depressed or anxious. His commentary helps me with my nerves. His also a very good storyteller, just like Joe, so you can imagine how quickly I clicked on this video.
Holy Shit, this collaboration is what we needed. Pecos Hank is an amazing character and his work is absolutely awe inspiring but gut wrenching too. Loved this Joe, awesome video.
No surprise so many of us have been fans of both Hank and Joe. It's only a surprise that it's taken this long for this video to happen. Bravo to both. Many thanks.
I've seen some crazy stuff in the aftermath of tornadoes. 2x4's stuck in the ground at the same depth, angle, and distance apart. Trucks sitting in treetops, almost without any damage. Houses leveled nothing left on the slab but a table with books and papers still sitting there neatly... Tornadoes are super scary, yet completely fascinating!
Hank is awesome . So cool and creative on the other side so down to the ground you simply must like him. And i love it when he bumps into Daniel Shaws Livestreams while Stormchase out there on the road and makes everybody happy with his positive energy.
I love Pecos Hank. He is a very knowledgeable and good hearted person. He always makes his videos super interesting and informative, and he's always very kind to everyone. One of the people that got me into storm chasing in the first place. And I really respect his compassion for animals, and how he puts their well-beings first. Plus, he's a pretty unique musician, too. All around cool dude, glad you got to have a conversation with him.
Focusing on the actual storms is actually why Pecos Hank is the only "weather" related channeld I have subscribed to. All others can't resist the lurid pictures and I SO understand why he is not feeling comfortable with recording them. I am not comfortable with watching it. It's basically a kind of voyeurism that I don't like. It's not that I am too faint hearted or whatnot. It's just none of my business, I can't help, there's nothing to learn and the people who just have lost something (everything?) surely have completely different priorites in these situations. I love how Pecos Hank apporaches the weather, the people, fellow stormwatchers and the occasional snake on the road. :-) Please stay cool!
Love this collab!!! Totally respect Hank's attitude/priorities when he's chasing. Yeah, he wants to get the cool video, but if a person or critter is in danger, then science must wait. Seeing him wrangle an unhappy snake off the road with a tornado looming just melted my heart. Great idea, Joe!!! 💚✌️😎🍀
To Pecos Hank: Filming damage, especially drone footage could actually be very helpful to those people both for insurance and item recovery. You might just record their info and send them a copy of any footage you have.
He is raw and i like it. not a polished scientist with verbiage premade to spew out. He kinda reminds me of my science profs in college that would take our questions, analyze them and provide responses and often they came out like that. good video
Pecos Thanks, Pecos Hank, for doing the Joe show! Epic science mashup here! Both channels are always informational AND entertaining! Hank, tell Scottie Kilmer that all 3 of you have to do a e.v. mashup LOL! Love you guys, hope I get to meet one of you in my work one day! Take care and Great show yo!!!
My favorite! Love Pecos Hank's video's.. such a calm voice during what must be seriously nerve wracking (and the music is awesome too). Can't stand the chasers that scream all the time... Nice to see Pecos pop up in your channel..
The straw stuck in fence posts actually happens, but it could just be luck of it finding a crack.. straw is surprisingly strong if you ever step on a piece straight on you'll agree
When big jets turn there is a “sail” indicator on the artificial horizon indicator. If this is out of alignment your angle will rotate along the long axis of the aircraft but you aren’t actually turning. Slight rudder input is required to compensate for the lack of turning radius. The professional term that is taught to pilots is: “All banky banky, no turny turny”. Earth’s atmosphere is quite thick. We don’t perceive it that way because we are highly adapted to our environment.
This is not really really why rudder is needed in a turn. When the ailerons are deflected they create adverse yaw, rudder is used to keep the airplane coordinated with its longitudinal axis. You don’t have to use the rudder because as you reach the desired bank angle and neutralize the aileron input you’re coordinated again. The reason an airplane turns is because it’s component of lift, it’s lift vector, is tilted. That’s the basics anyway, some simplifications were made.
@@Krdscott1 The physics of airplanes is fascinating. I've learned a lot from watching blanco lirio's channel. He's a commercial pilot, but caught my eye when he was covering the Oroville Dam spill a few years ago. He also covers wildfires, as well. He would get along well with Joe and Hank. ✌️😎💚🌎
And this is why we have such trouble with Tornado warnings....it's a freakish thing, and hardest to predict. Hurricanes you can see coming at least.. Good show Joe. Good show. I love this kinda stuff.

I grew up in Salina, KS, and when I was a teenager I joined a trip to help clean up books and rubble from the school in Greensburg. It was hard to take in. The town was just gone.
kansas city, missouri here. we just had a couple tornadoes around town this week. one cut across several miles of mostly residential. that one was just EF1 tho so most of the damage was shredded and downed trees and some roof damage but nothing too severe.

Actually there is a picture of a single straw of hay stuck into an utility pole. I've seen it. First time in school and another time on a program on TV.
Goddess bless Hank and all those like him for what they do to keep the rest of us safe.🐝🤗❤️ Btw Joe, you got me thinking (dangerous), if what you say about angular momentum is true, what do you think the solar system equivalent of a tornado or hurricane is?
The density of objects in space is so low that I don't suspect there's a good analog. I would be really interested to find out whether nebulae have "currents".
If you think about it, if you fix a ball at the poles then spin said ball really fast it’ll stretch into a disc, kinda like drag racing tires when they first go from zero to 100 mph in like a second
My middle school science teacher pronounced OO-ruh-nus because... middle schoolers. Hank's is one of my favorite TH-cam channels. I would love to go on a ride along but that doesn't seem like a good idea for obvious reasons. And now I'm imagining a niche industry around tornado tourism where someone like Hank is sort of like a fishing guide and just takes people on chases. He could sell his clients photos of themselves in front of a tornado like a rollercoaster picture. Aw, man, that is an awful idea. Anyway, very cool talk. It's an endlessly fascinating topic.
