Why not use the mini to pick the logs up waist high and buck them. Keeps your chain out of the dirt and saves your back from bending over. When you split them, just leave them on the ground…. Adds 2’ to your swing, more momentum and splits way easier
You're definitely right about that. I guess I'm overly concerned with the logs stacking up neatly in the pile. I sure would have saved myself some work in the splitting department. Ha ha.
Haha. Yes, that probably seems odd. We moved from the city to this 50+ acre property less than 2 years ago. Most of it is forest so I figured it would be better to build some trails before getting an ATV. Looking at getting a side-by-side at some point - maybe next summer.
Bro... Good video....You know you could check craigslist or even the local paper and find a lawn tractor you could take the mower deck off it and use it to pull your log trailer...probably find one couple hundred bucks. Would save you a lot of time.
Thanks, 926Trucker. Funny you say that. I actually picked up an old Craftsman garden tractor on craigslist for cheap. Replaced the turf tires with lug wheels for better traction in the bush. Just need to get the fuel pump replaced before it's ready (I hope).
Latest firewood video showing the craigslist lawn tractor in action: th-cam.com/video/vm_B8qSPSAw/w-d-xo.html It sure beats pulling that garden cart by hand!
I hear you. I definitely take it a lot easier on my body these days. I have already had surgery on my shoulder to repair a SLAP tear. I appreciate having the use of my right arm back. Looking to keep it that way.
Could you not have sledded the trees or at least some long logs up that hill with the mini-ex and cut it all up on top of the hill. And only had to haul that cart a much shorter distance on flatter ground. Just spit balling here.
You’re not kidding! It’s some serious work if you don’t have some machinery to help out. Even then it’s no walk in the park. But I certainly do enjoy the heat from a wood stove in winter.

Can you upload the original video not the sped up one?
funny watching it sped up like that, if you cut your blocks a little shorter they are a lot easier and quicker to split.

look at all the money you are saving on gym membership.
20,000 dollar excavator, but no 1000 dollar ATV....Whatever you have to do.
