This movie has lost nothing in the decades - it's just so spot on and hilarious. My Mum and Dad knew Terry-Thomas and he was just as amusing in person.
@@Elitist20 for those who don't know, he got Parkinson's, in the early 70's, his pension worth nothing and the actors union did nothing (except stir untrue stories such as he was an alcoholic), after investing in some film projects that all flopped, he was finding he couldn't afford the medical costs. @@dennis8196 That's disgusting. How could that happen to such a fine actor and grand gentleman? As an young boy across the pond he was to me the epitome of the British male specimen. One of my favorites.
This film and “The Naked Truth” both make me laugh out loud every time. The brilliant cast list in each of them is something we will never see the likes of again.Terry-Thomas and Peggy Mount give me infinite joy and Peter Sellers was a genius.Thank you.
Great scene - one of the best things about this completely brilliant comedy is that EVERYONE gets the piss taken out of them - not just the unions, but the management as well. The whole society is shown as corrupt, and the only person who wants to show this corruption for what it is loses out, whilst all the others pretty much get what they want! And Fred Kite is a totally unforgettable character.
LordHealey Having been involved in unions myself I'd say it's pretty damn close otherwise why parody it so well. Union reps are ONLY, I repeat ONLY, in it for what they personally can get out of it.
voxac30withstrat Parody necessarily involves a level of caricature. It might have been slightly more accurate when it was actually made. Are you aware of the significant differences in trade unions between now and when this movie was made?
.....and the union shoots itself in the foot. The writing for this film was absolute genius. Everything backfires on both union and management, all their downfalls being of their own making. I loved Sellers in so much of what he did, but this was (in my opinion only) his greatest acting role.
What a fantastic cast. Terry Thomas and Peter Sellers were brilliant in this classic British comedy film. ‘What a shower.’ An unforgettable phrase from the one and only Terry Thomas.
privates progress and its sequel I'm alright jack have to go down as two of the best British comedies ever made. Richard Attenborough Terry Thomas and Peter Sellers. It does not get any better than that
@@Ididntchoosethisname yes, you're right. But those political failures have cascaded through i.e. the whole of our education system, which has cascaded further into the society itself.
Outstanding comedy 👌👌👌 I'm all right jack. Two way stretch. Make mine mink. Ladykillers. The naked truth. The wrong arm of the law. Just to mention some of my favorite classic british comedies 😁 Watch them, if you can
This wonderful film's sheer GENIUS I have always found quite overwhelming....and 'sad' for we'll never again see the like. Roy & John Boulting had a truly amazing 'eye' but now the 'kaleidoscope' of life has now taken on a pretty unsavoury focus....due in no small measure to Ken Tynan's 'eff' word in April 1965. PLUS atop that a relentless cynicism which drags MOST cultural attempts into a gutter of smut and largely 'wall to wall' depravity. Doomed Mr. Manwaring.....DOOMED I say! LoL!
Maybe the best movie ever on union and corporate corruption and disloyalty. Instructive and hilariously funny. Go BNP. Go Nationalist. 'Pro-Family, Stewardship, and Fair Trade.'
Jeropidised ,classic.withdraw and consult ha ha,we do not and cannot accept the principal that incompetance justifies dismissal, nothings changed then ,you only have to look at Gordon Browns so called Government.
I loved this film, but why advertise this as a full movie ? that is misleading, however any clip with Peter Sellers brings back happy memories, a brilliant actor and well lovedcomidian. RIP PS.
British Comedy in its heyday. For year my dad and I used to listen to the Goon Show every Saturday at noon here in Australia. I learnt an aweful lot about how one can manipulate the english langauge from the Goons and the Likes of Morecombe & Wise, Two Ronnies et al. These days, to my mind at least, we are inundated with truly mediocre American 'laugh-a-second' idiotic 'see-it-coming-from-a-mile-away' sitcoms.
… "well I think we can all congratulate ourselves on a most productive morning’s work" - absolutely brilliant
This movie has lost nothing in the decades - it's just so spot on and hilarious. My Mum and Dad knew Terry-Thomas and he was just as amusing in person.
So sad what happened to him in later life.

Absolute classic British comedy the best screen play about union/management extremes ever written
You are so spot on.
Agreed and should be mandatory viewing in workplaces!
So many great British actors here, real talents. Oh for a time machine...
Amen!
😂😂😂😂 When comedy and irony meet! Truly brilliant actors! I used to watch all the Terry Thomas films, cthey were all fantastic!

Classic Terry-Thomas. What a grand performer.
What a superb clip. Terry Thomas an absolute genius.
A true British classic with so many greats, now all sadly long gone.
Brilliant film from an era of brilliant films with fantastic actors and characters
"I'm Alright Jack" was a great movie, ..especially the 'Stanley Windrush Critique' of predatory corporatism and parasitic unionism toward the end.
Agreed, it's only political agenda is to call out those who should be called out.
Brilliantt A Proper Sunday afternoon movie
I think old Fred Kite is now working for the Health and Safety Executive now, slowly destroying industry from the outside this time.
''The management is wilfully jeropardizing the safety of it's employees'' LOL
These films are immortal...
Acting talent is so wonderful....fantastic
A fantastic movie, and it is spot on with the way unions work!.

All it takes it solid talent and a good script and a love of the work and you get this sort of thing... absolute genius
One of my favourite films, ever !!!
one of my favs, along with wrong arm of the law .. two way stretch and billy liar..what great actors and great story lines we had then
Sam Kydd..few words spoken but remembered down thru the years.... he was ffffffffffflippin' great!
Absolutely brilliant. Nothing has changed in 60 years in the Trades Union thinking.
One of my favourite films- ever
i love the bit when the stuttering bloke says - "they should go f- f- f- f- photograph something worth while for a change!"
hahaha yea even as a child I thought he was going to say why dont you tell them to fuck off haha
The great Sam Kydd... It has been said, that he had more roles in British movies than any other actor.
@@kybone25 there's another classic bit where he says "you silly c - c - c - c - c - c - c - c - clot!" Amazing they got away with it.
What Precisely is the Trouble? 🤣🤭😂😆👏 I'm stealing this line for any future quibbles
That summed up Britain nicely back in the day
I'm a trade union branch secretary and I love this movie.

So you'll know exactly how accurate it is then?
voxac30withstrat It's not an accurate representation of modern industrial relations whatsoever. It's a movie. It's known as "humour"

What a treasure !
Thanks ..and that's unanimous Brother
This is absolutely extraordinary.
How did Sellers do it? The perfect caricature of the working man. He was incredible.
Magnificent. Peter Sellers along with Tony Hancock was Britain's best comic actor.
What a fantastic cast. Terry Thomas and Peter Sellers were brilliant in this classic British comedy film. ‘What a shower.’ An unforgettable phrase from the one and only Terry Thomas.
Always one of my favorite British films that really does not age. Labor vs Capitalists and corruption make this a classic.
TT was a genius the best of 🇬🇧
"What a shower!"
It is a great movie.... the actor Sam Kydd, played parts in over 290 films, more than any other British actor.
Whoever designed the suit that Sellars is wearing was spot on with the double breasted Eagles Nest look of a dictator.

I was introduced to Terry-Thomas through Disney's Robin Hood.
look where the unions got us today..
Yes, a 40 hour week, mimimum wages, unemployment insurance, child labor lawas. All to the good.
Wonderful satire rightly lampooning Capitalism and Socialism in equal measure.
That's exactly how the unions used act and talk.
Bang on !!

the more things change, the more they stay the same.😂
I agree, jpck, it's a great Sellers performance. Check out his Brummie vicar in 'Heaven's Above' too.
And Billy Bragg is a national treasure!
"spindle polisher"
An unforgettable naughty line. The thought of Liz Fraser is a happy one.
Incompetence is not a reason to sack someone that is victimisation. This was the dogma throughout the 60's and 70's
You can hear this guy speaking on the news fairly regularly even now, in the form of the RMT leader, Bob Crow.

Strong Mr Burns vibes from Terry-Thomas here, from his voice to his mannerisms
Windrush ? Whenever I hear that name it only brings bad memories !
Note that. the leader of the Union is the same who played Mr.Nash on Are You Being Served , who was -The Head of the Union at Grace Bros.

Is this the same actor for “Mad,Mad,Mad,Mad World” where he talks about not understanding America’s infatuation with Boobies?
That spokesperson for the union has a striking resemblance to Peter Sellers.
Royal Mail workers needed Fred Kite 😢 , completely sold out by the CWU

So typical of the unions back then.
For the benefit of Mr Kite.
