Wonderful basic principles, thank you for sharing. You might’ve had an easier time with another level of grey your demonstration, but it was good as it is. Alain Picard is another advocate for creating a value study before reaching for your colors! I am discovering soft pastels are truly a different medium! It is nice to know that you can still apply basic artistic or painterly knowledge to an advantage no matter what medium you use. I hope you’re able to include saturation in your color temperature section and part two, good luck Susan wonderful video thanks again.
Hii Mrs Jenkins, Thank u for the lesson ma'am this was really really awesome, like a game changer. I would too love to visit North Carolina someday. But talking about the lesson, I too got a color palette and shade book with soft pastels but I didn't pay attention to it and now I think I covered the entire lesson of the book. Thnx ma'am, anish said hii, he's studying for the semester. Prayers for ur mum in law🙏🏻, Hallelujah!!( Tc ❤️ Love from India ❤️
Thank you for doing this. It is a reminder to me to do more value sketches. I am trying to learn landscape so information will be helpful, Years ago when I was doing a lot of drawing, I created a value scale out of black, grey, and white paint swatch from Lowe's or other. I punched holes in the middle of the swatches. Think I need to see if I still have it. I have taken some of my pictures (mostly of flowers from Bok Gardens ot other) and changed them to black and white as a way of seeing value.
Eileen... what a great idea about the Lowe’s paint swatches with holes cut in them. Also, if you’re talking about Bok gardens in Lake Wales Florida… I love that place! And that’s also a great idea about converting photos to black-and-white. I do this often. Have fun!
@@eileenvalachovic9435 Wow... we were just there a couple of months ago. So beautiful. I've got to take my pastels and easel some time! Would be neat to meet other artists there in the area :)
@@monetcafe I'm doing a watercolor plein air workshop tomorrow on the 13th. I am so excited. Will just use a backpack but recently I got a used jogging stroller to take my heavier backpack to sketch at Bok Tower and Circle B in Lakeland. It's worked well in both places.

The horizon line is really the eye line. From the perspective of the viewer.
Yes, that’s true. Should have mentioned that too.
There’s so much to communicate. You do a great job, nevertheless.

Yes. I live a little less than an hour from Bok Tower. Love that place.

Meant to say the plein air workshop is at Bok Tower. Because of covid, only 10 spots. I was lucky and got the last.
