      CAN YOU HELP ME? This combo is piece of xt for me. I have both and my pc freezes alllll the time. I have change every hardware 3 times, like, new ram, mobo, gpu power supply and still crashes. Look like short-circuit. What is going on ?

    • @KevinMuldoon
      @KevinMuldoon  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Have you updated to the latest bios?
      Reset your memory timings too to rule out that being an issue.
      Ideally, you want to check your PSU, memory, GPU on another system. I'd want to check the system using Linux or a fresh windows install too to rule out this bring a driver or memory issue.
      Being honest, i don't think freezes will be coming from the motherboard. Seems more like a GPU, memory, Windows or driver issue to me.

    X570's are awesome in backwards compatibility, I'm really hoping they last another generation, nice purchase Kevin, definitely the motherboard I'd go for!

      Yeah they've said this is the last generation, but it would be good if we get one more. I'm not too bothered either way as I'll get a few years out of it at least.
      Looking forward to actually building the thing haha.

      I think this is the last outing due to ddr 5. I wanted a good upgrade from 2700x & more than 5ghz (just psychological desire) and this ticked all boxes.

    Good. This is the revised version of motherboard where the completely removed the capacitor that was dangerously close to the CPU socket, causing problems with some build during CPU cooler placement. Good update!

    Great video Kevin, at the moment I’m working out my new build. My big problem is that my NLE utilises Intel CPUs better than AMD. I’ve already spec’d up my AMD option If I go down that route and I’ve decided on the same board and CPU if I go down the AMD route. Regardless of the CPU, I’ll be using a Gigabyte Aorus board. My last few builds have been Aorus and I’ve never had any issues, I’ve heard people complain about the BIOS for the Aorus boards but I’ve always found them really easy and straight forward, plus they’re really good for XMP RAM. If I go Intel for my next build it’ll be the next 11th Gen i9. The main problem is that Intel are going back to 8 core for Gen 11, which is just mind boggling seeing as AMD are at 16/32 for desktop with the 5950X. That said, not many programs utilise all the cores and threads on the 5950X and like I just said, I’m kind of a bit screwed because my NLE likes Intel for the QuickSync processor. If my NLE wasn’t an issue I’d be going straight to AMD without any hesitation. I’m also considering what GPU for the next build. I already had a 3070 but sold it thinking that January would be easier for a 3080. At the moment there’s all kinds of madness going on with all GPUs, not just the 30 series. The weird thing is that it’s actually easier to get a 3090 without getting scalped. Given that 3080s are going for up to £1200, it starts making sense to look at a 3090 for £1600 without being scalped. It also looks like all the prices at MSRP are going up, which is just ridiculous. Anyway, looking forward to how you get on with your build. All the best for the new year. Cheers, Dave.

    • @KevinMuldoon
      @KevinMuldoon  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good to hear from you Dave.
      I'm using DaVinci Resolve now and it apparently works well with both Intel and AMD. Only problem I havewith my current Aorus board is that there hasn't been a bios update in a while. Which I guess is irrelevant if everything is stable.
      How does your Mac Mini perform with OBS and video editing etc? Is that something you could use in the future? Perhaps it could work in a dual PC setup where it acts as the recording computer.
      Yeah the GPU situation is difficult. It's going to be near impossible to get a 3080 because of what's happening in the crypto work. My recommendation is to join a few stock update Discord groups so you know when GPUs are in stock. StockInformer is a good group to check out.
      If you sold your 3070, which GPU are you using currently?
      Kevin

    • @DavidHarry
      @DavidHarry 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Alright Kevin.
      I’ve tried Resolve and like it because it does work better than anything else with various CPUs and GPUs and does take advantage of CUDA etc. for rendering. My problem is that Edius is faster for my workflow and is a better editor, although Resolve has all the extra colour and audio stuff and is no match for GPU processing. If I had the time I could put more effort into Resolve but when you have a production workflow that’s working great for TH-cam, it’s hard to find the time to properly test other stuff.
      The Mac Mini is great for what it is and is a brilliant platform for moving forward with. Although, regardless of how good it is it doesn’t compare to a Windows PC or even a Mac Pro with a modern multicore CPU and modern GPU. Although in that instance you are talking about the difference between £700 and a minimum of at least a few grand. In the future I can see Apple Silicon ARM SoCs taking over once they’ve got up to speed with high CPU and GPU core counts.
      As for OBS. I mostly capture from external sources and quite often use two 4K capture cards, this is defo something you can’t do with a Mac Mini. Also and regardless of what you may have seen on YT, a Windows PC using NVENC is defo better than any Mac M1 device using the M1 GPU as the encoder. Bottom line, the Mac Mini is awesome and is a brilliant buy if you’re not already over invested in certain Windows and Mac workflows and it’s will definitely only get better.
      Yeah, the stupidity with the GPU stuff is just too much. As Edius doesn’t use CUDA and only uses NVENC for encoding, I’m back to my GTX 1660. Outside of CUDA and if you are mostly encoding, there’s no difference between a GTX 1660 and an RTX 3090, they both use the same Turing 7Th Gen NVENC encoder. I sold my 3070 to a friend for cheaper than what it’s MSRP was, I had no intention of selling it at a profit on eBay, I absolutely hate all that greedy scalping thing. Basically sold it for what I paid £550. Problem is though, I seriously thought that I’d get a 3080 in January and that looks like it’ll never happen and it looks like all the 30 series prices are due to go up at MSRP, so expect the scalping prices to go up.
      End of the day, for my use with Edius the CPU is more important than the GPU. The 3070 was great for gaming but after trying my best with some PC games, which played great on the 3070, I’m just as crap on PC as I’ve always been 😆 For me personally, the latest Xbox or PlayStation are a much better buy for gaming. Although I do prefer to play in 4K or the highest resolution possible, the GTX 1660 with my i9 is great for 1080 PC gaming if I ever want to mess about on PC for gaming. I doubt I’ll look at another RTX until Edius does GPU processing or if I maybe go over to Resolve at some point.
      Cheers,
      Dave.

    • @KevinMuldoon
      @KevinMuldoon  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah from a workflow point of view, Windows definitely suits me better.
      I was reluctant to change from Premiere Pro as I had used it for several years, but when they started being assholes to me, I jumped. I'm glad I did. It took me a couple of video edits to get used to it all, but I'm getting there now.
      I love how audio and colours and everything is all integrated into one interface.
      Yeah I don't think the M1 would replace anything I have now, but it would be good for a computer somewhere around the house.
      It's PC I play games on, which is another reason why I wanted a new GPU.
      I've picked the worst time to build a new PC though ;)

    Also what is common is we both use Corsair AX series PSU, the difference is I bought 1600i(last week) operating on single rail mode.
    Also similar is we both have 3090 Aorus edition, I got two of them but Xtreme Varient(One bought in November, and another last week along with AX1200i). Not using it in SLI mode for gaming as there's no need. But two cards are used for my 3D work stuff.

    • @KevinMuldoon
      @KevinMuldoon  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I had to update the bios. This was something I had planned to do earlier, but didn't do it until the build was complete (of course, there's no harm in doing it last).
      You just need to download the firmware to a USB drive and then connect it to the bios usb port. On my board, I had to rename the file to Gigabyte.bin and insert it into the Q Flash USB port and then hit the flash bios button.
      It's straightforward and I wasn't even connected to the monitor when I flashed it.
      I think you're right in that you only need the power connected.

      @KevinMuldoon My original build was around this time in 2020 and I'm doing a sort of lateral build.
      Before I go to the 7000 series AM5 board or decide to go Intel next build.
      I wanted to upgrade as much as possible before I switch mobo.
      So I went with the 5950x, 128gb of 3600 ddr4 & the main upgrade was my GPU.
      The RTX 4090.. because I went with that, I bought a better PSU as well... I got an EVGA 1600w Gold on sale.
      I'll update the bios before I put in the new cpu.
