Ian is cray strong, but also a super nice guy. He came up to me at the start of the race, speaking broken French (because it's my first language) to wish me a great race. 🤟
What I love about all those guys is how approachable they are. I spoke w basically all of them at the expo. They all are at a different level but still amazing ambassadors. Congratulations Ian!!
I am so happy that the crash didn't stop him, it just changed his direction! Congratulations Ian! Couldn't have happened to a nicer or more deserving guy!
Congrats to you and Gretchen. I have 5 kids and it's special. Good luck to you guys and congrats on the win!! Been following you a long time and podcast, so happy for you
So great that you got the win Ian, but definitely even greater that you're back on the bike and plainly loving it so much. To see you guys on the front, smashing it, enjoying each other's company and socializing too!! It's just lovely to see - Continue to do what your doing👏
"I'm not as strong as when I was on the road" really gives perspective to how strong the WT riders are if Ian is strong enough to do this while at a lower fitness than he was 2 years ago.
I remember Ian coming up through the domestic ranks on Bissell. He has always been an exceptionally strong and classy bike racer. So awesome to hear his news at the end of this video.
I am so happy for you, Ian! I remember watching the daily TdF vlog's you did with your buddy and have been casually following you since. You're such a genuine person and I can't wait to see how the next chapter as a father turns out!
I imagine being this good on a bike then I think of all the work and time these men and women have invested. Their level is not incidental and accidental. It's earned. I haven't earned what they have. I will be happy with my improving level.
They are genetically gifted! I could work and work and NEVER be that strong! That being said I agree with you and will be happy with "marginal" gains 😂
Looks like a humble cool fella! Congratulations for both life changing events! The victory and the baby coming! First year will be hard bc you won’t sleep as much but after that everything going to be alright!
Expecting Ian in Kenya for the Migration Gravel Race starting from 23rd to 26th this June. It's a 650km route taking place in 4 stages. It will be lit!
Back when I was racing, “gravel” races were just mountain bike races done on dirt roads. I find it a little sad that cycling keeps getting divided into more subcategories. I liked that we only had road and mountain bike racing (downhill was fairly specialized).
It’s gonna be ok… MTBs are still around and have their strong and safe place in the sport, road bikes are still around and have their strong and safe place in the sport…and now there’s a new exciting category, one thats attracting even more people to get into cycling for the first time, creating new racing and more revenue for small towns and brands that would otherwise not have any from the other categories ( road and MTB) , giving retired ( by choice or not) racers a new lease on life and the fans a very cool new sport to watch. No one is replacing MTB or road racing or the bikes, theyre just being joined by a sort raced o terrain that was usually ignored by the other two. The proof that this was missing in the sport is the popularity it garnered it such a short time. The other reason its popular is that much like marathons, these are events that regular folks like me can participaste in along side with the pros. Cant do that with MTB races or road races. Dont be that guy on a horse yelling at the first cars ;)
Basically all ex world tour racers are crushing everybody in gravel races in the US. So how well could do in gravel races top classics racers who are on the top now.. There would be crazy gap in fitness level... Sagan, MVDP, Van Aert guys from Quick step etc..

What a nice chap. Its like the old saying, be gracious in defeat and humble in victory. Well done 👍
it’s pretty easy to love Ian Boswell.
As a rider and as a fan, it is so cool that these riders are so genuine. These are grand times for gravel.
Bikes come in kid sizes. Good luck. Best winner's story I have seen.

Nice video and chapeau to Ian and all those who finished. He's a very likeable guy, not sure about his choice of shorts though...
What a stud. And humble as well. Congrats Ian!
I didn't know who he was before this race but I'm certainly a fan now
I knew this dudes story, but i didn't realise the dude who won was that guy. It all makes sense now!
He was a pro cyclist in team sky

Nice when good guys succeed 👊🏻
Great video on and videographer
Ian, Congrats on the new kid! Keep us posted on how you balance riding with fatherhood. For me, having 3 boys under 5 yrs old, the ride is therapy.
Quality film

I keep thinking what will I do after my Ironman... and here I am watching more and more gravel things! 🤔
Humble
Looks like Teddy Bear is going to have to fight for all of his KOMs again up here in VT.
