    I think a lot of people won’t understand that it’s not *just* a phone. It’s about feeling lucky to be in a family that truly loves you. So many foster kids are not used to having money spent on them. Damn this was such an emotional video.

    • @maccifyme
      @maccifyme 4 ปีที่แล้ว +267

      I agree, and also probably about knowing they are trusted enough to get their own phone, they might never have experienced that kind of love and trust from an adult before. Getting a phone would make most kids happy, but these sweet kids ALSO gets "proof" that they are loved, trusted and respected in their forever family and I bet that is even way more important than the phone itself

    • @rue353
      @rue353 4 ปีที่แล้ว +93

      maccifyme A good point. Many foster kids will most likely not receive trust or care from parents prior to being adopted. This is an important step in realising that they matter and are valued just like all the other children in the family.

    It's not only that they trusted them with phones, but also brand new phones. iPhones! When you had spend your whole life moving from one place to another, from foster home to foster home, without nothing that really belongs to you, not even a shitty phone to keep in contact with your friends, having something like this is the most special thing ever.
    But also, having the same phone as the rest of your soon-to-be brothers and sisters it's a proof that the family really, really want you to stay there. I mean, it really means a lot.
    I'm getting a bit emotional, but I know what they're feeling and I'm really grateful that they have found such a wonderful family.

    When you are pulled from your home, sometimes you only have the clothes on your back. It is so hard to feel like you really ever belong. What you have done for these Children is truly a blessing that not many are lucky enough to receive. I can feel there genuine gratitude. Thank you for being a major part of their lives. Bless you.

It was also nice she really appreciated getting a new phone herself, of course she was already in bits by them. Nice move giving Hallie a phone too, also nice she didn't expect one and has no jealousy at all. Great kids, and the new kids have a bit of independence now. So nice to get them the thing that all kids get these days, and also the phones were not tied to them having to do something. Great move Crystal!

So nice for Lukas and Savannah, I think it really made them welcome to the family and made them feel valued and they have worth, which most likely has not happened too often before. Hannah got that too. Lovely for Hallie as well. Incredible reaction of appreciation and acceptance. Spot on Crystal, definitely got more than you bargained for but an important moment for sure.

    This was beautiful. Not only did the kids get freely given gifts just because they are loved - they got THE ultimate gift. The thing about a phone, in this day and age, it's a really important thing to teens. Especially during a pandemic when you have to social distance, a phone is Not just a phone; it's a way to connect to friends and groups outside your immediate family, and building social interactions are key at this age. These days they are all online. NOT having a phone sets you apart. And the fact that it's such an expense, it would be hard for a child in long time foster care to even hope for one. So this would be such a big deal to these teens on so many levels.

      @@gracieshepardtothemax1743 I'm not able to have my own children either so I fostered. I'm terminally ill now although 10 years ago when I was 32 I was given two years at the most and I'm still here albeit bedridden most of the time, so I'm a fighter. Anyway I had to give up fostering and being a primary school teacher which broke my heart. Before this I was about to start the process of adopting a 7 year boy that had been with me for about two years and even though it tore me apart it was best for him to go back into care in the hope that they would find him another family. He was a very violent angry boy and understandably so but this meant that potential parents kept putting him back into care and he is 19 now.
      Anyway I just wanted to say that I can understand how painful it can be when you desperately want children but are unable to. I always thought that families are made through blood but just as much so through love. I hope that you enjoy being an aunty to your friends children. My best friend that has been with me since we were 12 is like my sister and she has given me a lovely neice and nephew to love to bits. Xx

    Being a parent doesn’t mean just kids of your own being a parent means raising a kid, giving them love, feeding enough, giving them support, and telling them how much u love them
    Edit: I know this because I am a an adoptive kid myself and Because my mom has told me this millions of times and the fact how they these kids got new phones is just amazing. I mean they might have not wanted one but I know for a fact that giving them a phone made them feel like they are apart of the family and they are feeling loved the fact how they started crying, it was just so passionate I believe so much in them ❤️ 😊

    I really understand this kids. I was adopted when I had 7 years old. I hadn't had nothing that I really felt it was mine. When I first saw my adopted parents they gave me a hello kitty bag and to my brother they gave a book and it was a thing that I knew that was mine and since that moment I felt that I would be really loved in that family. I didn't really knew a lot about what was going on at that time but I really am grateful to be part of a family that loves me and give everything so I can be happy. I also don't know like where I would be profissionally. At 7 years old I didn't even knew how to read and I didn't understood why I needed to study that stuff why I needed to know how to read. I feel grateful cause my parents always supported me and now I'm almost a college student. I wish the best of luck and happiness to these kids. They deserve to have a good life. It's not that easy to forget what was our past but the thing I know now it's that we can be happy even if we don't understand the reasons why we had to leave our birth families. I don't really know nothing about my birth parents, don't know if they're still alive and if they remember that I and my birth brother exist. The only thing I know it's that I'm happy now.

Hannah was emotional also but when you surprised Halie with a new one she was very surprised. So the obvious results were me a 50 yr old woman crying my eyes out for all your kids. What you did for the new son and daughter as well as the other 2 was a tearjerker. The thing that made it more special to me was Aroura’s reaction. I think she thought they were tears of sadness and tried to console them. More so was her doing it to Luke and Savannah, it showed unconditional love with two people she hasn’t known for long. ❣️💖

      Missy Davenport personally I have been seeing a little progress for a while. Recently I noticed she was making amazing progress. Her words if you paid close attention you could hear her sounds were becoming closer to words. But today it sounded pretty darn good. Not to mention you can see much less frustration when someone couldn’t understand her. I really think the best speech therapy is being around so many kids talking. Giving her almost all the time we’ll accept now that the kids are in school. I adore her display of affection but it touched me the most today. My tears flowed more today when she was hugging Luke and Savannah. I think she has the best parents. They have soft voices, I don’t think either get loud accept when announcing something good. They are also both mild mannered, extremely patient, huge hearts, and have enough to love to give to a 1,000 kids. They amaze me!

    those who perceive (wrongly, if I may say) that Aaron & Crystal have favorites, your misconception is represented by those boxes. but their real love is represented by what's inside: abundant and SAME for all their kids. the attention they give is not unequal, it is equitable depending on the kids' NEEDS.

    Late to this whole party, but I've now binged a number of your vlog entries. I'm a parent, my kids are all in their late 20s now. We have 2 bio-kids, and have...'acquired' three more, that we helped get out of really bad situations as young adults. My kids sometimes turn to us and say "you and madre are such great parents!", and my response is always "We are *adequate* parents - the problem is that the parenting-bar nowadays is So Damn Low it makes us look good."
    Now I can send them links to y'all and say, " *This* , this right here, *this* is Great Parenting." Bless you both, bless you all, for doing the work of the world. I don't know you, will never meet you, I'm sure you have your own challenges and moments you wish you'd done differently - but I am so damn proud of you and your family. Rock on!

    We are foster parents, and our agency requires us to spend x amount on new clothes per month. And even still, there will be kids coming from one family to another with very little. It's so hard. We had a little guy with us, and when he left, he had no idea that the clothes we had bought were his to keep. He said, "Wait, even the pikachu swim suit?" You've given them a gift of normalcy, and that means so much!

      I fostered under 4 for awhile until my husband was just done with it. They always left my home with everything I bought for them. Including birthday and Christmas presents. We used to get praised for sending along a little backpack on parental visits containing a few diapers, wipes, bottle or sippy cup, snacks and a change of clothes. Apparently we were one of the only foster families that did. I understood that ideally the parent would provide during the visits but should the kid be without if they didn't?

      @@tammyk6358 We have only had one placement, but the family they went to fell all over themselves thanking us for sending all of their stuff. And one sibling group we had for respite's next placement said they came with nearly nothing and they had been in care for a year. It's sad.

    I honestly can’t even put into words the emotions this video brought out in me. I had never considered adopting. But the joy and feelings I got from just that short video is something I cannot explain. I can tell you though, this video has made me realize a goal of mine is to adopt. If this video made me feel this way I can only imagine what giving a child/children a life that they’ve been without for so long that they so deserve. When Hannah started crying I was done for 😭🤍

    You guys have such a beautiful heart, an amazing family. Your children are so blessed to have you guys as their parents. When I was in foster care it took me a while to warm up to my foster mom so I wasn’t physically close to her but when I found love in my heart for her… to me hugging me and her hugging me was honestly the best feeling ever. You guys are doing such a great thing in life with these children. May god bless you guys all😭❤️

    What a precious family ! This is the type of family that should be on a reality show! Their love and kindness for one another is what life is really all about! That mother is an "Angel Mother" the mother of all those little angels. Their precious tears of joy is so beautiful and inspirational and heart warming! I wish all families were like this! The world would be a better place! Kudos to the father iof thosee angel children as well! Merry Christmas! May God shine down his love and blessings on you always!!

    When you come from nothing, and are loved, accepted, honored, and trusted, that alone is everything. Kudos to these parents for showing these adoptees just how much they belong in their family. (It's literally not even about the phones. Any gift that normalizes them would have likely had this same reaction).

    Me: I'm not going to cry. I am not going to cry.
    Hannah: Starts crying bc she sees Luke crying and then savannah starts crying too.
    Also me: Damn it. *blubbering so much I can't see the screen anymore*
    It's more than materialism, it's a statement of acceptance. So so happy for the kids. If I'm half the mother that Crystal I'll have succeeded in life 💕

    I know from experience from being in foster care my whole life. It’s truly amazing when you get a forever family. My siblings and I finally found them. We never got adopted because we had 2 failed adoptions . But they made us feel like we were their own. That’s why I love this family so much💕 I love seeing other people open up their homes for kids in need! Thank you so much for sharing your world with us!
