I believe the floating villain Mio during her tarot reading portion is a parody of Grandmaster Meio from Strider. Especially after just now typing it out and seeing the "Mio = Meio".
In Mios tarot section, the black cloak with orange lining and orange sharp nails character is the main bad guy from Strider arcade. Funnily enough called Grandmaster Meio.
Great video! And heres a few more references I think you missed. I think they try to reference the Mario Allstars version of SMB and SMB Lost Levels during the title screen, Fubuki's intro bit, ending of the song, and any part that has that style of sprites from the font of the hud elements. 2. During Fubuki's into bit (before pokemon) it is a massive reference to Mario from picking up and powerup and growing to goings down a pipe and stomping on the boss. 3. 4:02 at this point if you continue to listening to the instrumental of the song itself you can here the Underground theme from Mario play too as the say G.A.M.E.R.S. 4. Anytime they show the "Mario Paint" scenes, it also represents the Gameboy and its limited color usage and screen. (Why it looks green instead of normal) 5. The ending of the song is also a reference to the original Super Mario with the goal pole and fireworks sounds at the end and the idols cheering infront of a castle.
In particular that bit with fubuki and miteru might be a reference to the koopaling boss fights in Smb3, one of them had a room layout that was almost identical to the one seen in the video
The guy holding Mio's Tarot cards looks very much like Grandmaster Meio from the Arcade Version of Capcom's Strider. Fubuki goes down a pipe and defeats a Fubuzilla much in the way of one of the Koopalings in Super Mario 3. The "cute-em-up" section of Okayu's is reminiscient of things like Fantasy Zone or Twinbee. Probably more Fantasy Zone as the Cat head has wings like Opa Opa does. One of the Cartridges says "YUBIGAME" and it's styled like one of the Famicom "Pulse Line" designs before Cover Arts got more sophisticated. One of the Cartridges is styled after the Hu-Cards for the PC-Engine/TurboGrafx 16 The Four Arcade cabinets onstage are, from left to right, Super Mario Bros., Street Fighter II, Tetris, and a Space shooter like Gradius. The Arcade Cabinets are the end are: On the Bottom row left to right, Megaman 1 (Yellow Devil fight), Kirby, Pac-man, and Dig-Dug One level above, left to right, Space Invaders and Arkanoid. It's Topped with a PS1 controller. The Blue Menu windows are likely a reference to Final Fantasy, which used that color scheme quite frequently in the classic days. Those are what I spotted.
Just that first part alone with the golden Magikarp.... hit me so hard in the feels, and I was so happy for Fubuki now just as I was when it originally happened. The joy and adulation you could hear her voice was such a wonderful thing, especially after she toiled so long and so hard to get it. Seeing Friend happy is a wonderful thing
Great effort Hololive, Gamers and especially Just Egg-san for your detective work (worthy of one Amelia Watson in it's own right) there. A real trip down memory save game lane right there.
The ending features a PS1 controller and the castle could reference to either Super Mario Land 2 or Wario Land. Both games endings feature a tall castle with the main protag standing in front of it. Also Kirby's Adventure in the bottom 2nd from left and Dig Dug in the bottom right as they were not referenced anywhere during the MV.
Everyone has their own kami-oshi in holo Gamers, for me Korone is THE kami-oshi to rule them all. A great blend of fun and doggy cuteness. In the words of eekum bokum do i trust.
While Fubuki’s sprite looks to be inspired by Gen 3 of Pokémon, the environment is undeniably Gen 4. The trees look like they were taken right out of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl!
I was waiting for someone to make a video like this. I was also trying to get all the references as well lol. I was sure 5:58 was a reference but i couldn't read well Also reading the comments made me realize there are even more references than i expected
The "G.A.M.E.R.S" voice through the song is generated by a Speak and Spell, but also more specifically a reference to the song "E.G.G.M.A.N" from Sonic Adventure 2.
The "G, A, M, E, R, S" synthesized voice is in reference to very early voice synthesizing modules used in a variety of children's toys, for example "Speak and Spell" (th-cam.com/video/cDelRihDxSo/w-d-xo.html)
Egg-san, are you solo producing content in your channel? Regardless, just don't forget to rest 💪🏻 you're constantly pumping content which is great! But don't forget to take care of your health as well 😊
I don't think that was the point. Mio hasn't talked about DDR nor played it on stream. I guess they used DDR to show the Miostep to fit the retro games theme of the song.
Whenever the song spells out "GAMERS" it could possibly be a reference to Five Nights at Freddy's 2 where whenever you die you have a chance of entering a minigame where you can hear a similar (it could actually be the exact same!) robotic voice spell out words
I believe the floating villain Mio during her tarot reading portion is a parody of Grandmaster Meio from Strider. Especially after just now typing it out and seeing the "Mio = Meio".
Yep! That's who I thought, too. His design and hands gesture also look similar.
That's the one that I was trying to figure out, thanks!
3:56 I think korone has a wonder swan in her hand
i know i wasn't the only one who thought of that
Making sure other people noticed it too. To be fair, it's a pretty niche console outside Japan.
Wonderswan...
The forgotten one 😢
Looks like a hybrid of Swan and Gameboy. That was probably intended.
@@sinocutar5193I only know about its existence via _Evangelion._
In Mios tarot section, the black cloak with orange lining and orange sharp nails character is the main bad guy from Strider arcade. Funnily enough called Grandmaster Meio.
Just Egg is once again out here doing amazing work collecting and presenting info like this. Legit thank you so much!
Korone being the antagonist in her part might be a reference itself to Evil God Korone. 🤔
(I'm not 100% sure, but it feels like that!)
Am I the only one who thinks a fan game based off the MV would be the coolest hololive game ever
Knowing this fandom we'll definitely get fan versions of stuff like the korone sidescroller shmup and the okayu rhythm game
theres already one based on gura and calis "Q" mv. Holocure. unless you talking about this mv, then gl to whoever does it
is cikutaku count for that? The MV is self is a games
I'm planning for Altered Hatotaurus 😃
Well, Ame did something like that for her own, although created by fans.
6:57 the score stop at 56300,not sure about what 00 mean, but 563 can be read as korosan
Great video! And heres a few more references I think you missed.

A genius, but devious move would be to leave out something obvious in a video like this, so everybody comments and boosts the video in the algorithm.

There is a gameboy Micro at 3:59 but what Korone is holding in her hands is a Wonderswan
This mv is an ode to retro gaming and their gamer careers
One worth mentioning is that certain points of the song use the WarioWare sound font.
So much love and effort went into the MV. Sasuga!
Just that first part alone with the golden Magikarp.... hit me so hard in the feels, and I was so happy for Fubuki now just as I was when it originally happened. 4:06 Secret manei, ehehe
Thank you~
you are welcome!
The altered beast and star fox bits didn't have to go that hard 🔥
Nice work spoting the references both Game & Hololive
3:28 korone is also striking the kamen rider 1 pose
pretty sure they all does kamen rider poses, fubuki as den o, mio as kabuto and okayu as ryuki. Dont know If I get it right
2:21 I believe it's also a reference to those two button games where enemies come either from left or right, like One-Finger Death Punch.
Dude, amazing work sleuthing out all of these! And so quickly! Haagen Dazs was a genius catch
I was hoping someone would do this! I caught many of the references the first time, but not all, so thanks for this!
Thank you very much. I'm waiting for someone to analyze the MV for this song.
Dude Huevo-san, you are doing a great job. Thank you very much!!!!
This is up there in my ranking of hololive MVs
Very good 👍😊
Thanks for the effort egg-san
ミオしゃステップの元ネタも載せてて草
てっきりゲームの元ネタだけだと思ってたからありがてぇ
the amount of work they put into the video is crazy
you did good job as always, thank you!
okay that altered beast reference was so nice to see.
it's one of my favourite games of that era
"RISE FROM YOUR GRAVES" is one really good line
Great effort Hololive, Gamers and especially Just Egg-san for your detective work (worthy of one Amelia Watson in it's own right) there. A real trip down memory save game lane right there.
The Altered Beast one really caught me off guard
I never expected someone to referencing this game in 2024
Beautifu video Just Eggsito san! Thank you!
Edit: 5:10 xDDD
These videos and the comments are always a treasure trove of interesting facts, so thanks for putting this together!!
Seeing Mio go Altered Beast was my favorite part of the MV. I love classic Sega references like that
Ohh nice breakdown of the references!
This is so much effort put in to get all the parts! Good job!
I think it's a great comparison video!
You have found so many references! Amazing!
I grew up playing Altered Beast, so seeing my oshi reference it makes me very happy.
What doesn't make me very happy is Altered Beast on PS2.
Love Korone doing the Kamen Rider Ichigo henshin pose in the MegaMan sprite.
Fubuki Magikarp arc was amazin
I'll never understand the Häagendaz thing. Korone says it exactly like everyone else. There's literally no difference.
Super fun vid from egg san the goat
They are foing ALL OUT on this MV😂❤
Yes I like you are amazing ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙂👍🏻
I think just before Dedede Drum Dash for Okayu was supposed to be Fantasy Zone? Kinda? Might be wrong.
such a well-made mv
Never thought seeing altered beast in the reference
Fubu san on that legendary hunt for the gold magikarp ❤
there's also Fubuki speaking in monotone as a Yukkuri, a Touhou Project meme
The MV is so good!!!
Honestly seeing korone performe the raging demon was pretty sick and funny.
Wonderful job picking all that out!
Everyone has their own kami-oshi in holo Gamers, for me Korone is THE kami-oshi to rule them all. A great blend of fun and doggy cuteness.
In the words of eekum bokum do i trust.
That Altered Beast part is too epic
0:35 not only it was capturing the memorable fubuki's moment, the
Arts also from 3rd gen pokemon 😊
While Fubuki’s sprite looks to be inspired by Gen 3 of Pokémon, the environment is undeniably Gen 4. The trees look like they were taken right out of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl!
I knew the character select part was Street Fighter 2, but Mega Man X3? Never thought of it like that. Even X2 would be a consideration.
The game they use to make the E between dragon quest and pacman is "breakout" or brick scape,
4:58
oh this is definitely the cyberdemon room from map10/refuelling base, korone please play doom2
nice ingfo~ loved it
so many references! thanks!
I was waiting for someone to make a video like this. I was also trying to get all the references as well lol.
I was sure 5:58 was a reference but i couldn't read well
Also reading the comments made me realize there are even more references than i expected
2:58 That's the evil Grand Master from Strider.
Just imagine if it were Altered Beast 2 that they made the reference of instead.
4:54 DOOG!!!
ohh thx !!!
Amazing 🎉
i think the doom segment was also a doog ref
That's for sure Mario All-Stars rather than Mario World, not that it really matters
on the MV at 2:59 I think it's a reference of Fubuki talking like a Yukkuri
The "G.A.M.E.R.S" voice through the song is generated by a Speak and Spell, but also more specifically a reference to the song "E.G.G.M.A.N" from Sonic Adventure 2.
Awesome reference!! 😂
助かる
2:49 ストライダー飛竜のグランドマスター?
4:16 I think this is not Dragon Quest. I think this is MOTHER1. Because Korone like MOTHER so. If it is wrong I'm so sorry.
I think so too, the enemy art looks more suited to Mother also
Amazing job on compiling all these references 😊 (also was the tokimeki footage taken from game center cx, the font look familiar?)
POWER UP!!!
you missed an aditional dragon quest reference
Akai na~
Thx❤😂❤
The "G, A, M, E, R, S" synthesized voice is in reference to very early voice synthesizing modules used in a variety of children's toys, for example "Speak and Spell" (th-cam.com/video/cDelRihDxSo/w-d-xo.html)
And contemporary gaming streamers under Yukkuri head avatar much like later Vtubers.
凄い!元ネタ知ってる奴あったな
4:13 ここはどちらかと言うと初代MOTHERでは?
4:43 only part I was confused about, I've never heard of the game before
Edit: except of course for some of the Japanese bits
Yes I'm that Oldge
Egg-san, are you solo producing content in your channel? Regardless, just don't forget to rest 💪🏻 you're constantly pumping content which is great! But don't forget to take care of your health as well 😊
Mio likes DDR? Neat. Its a fun game but I am terrible at remembering where the steps are if I am playing the arcade version.
I don't think that was the point. Mio hasn't talked about DDR nor played it on stream. I guess they used DDR to show the Miostep to fit the retro games theme of the song.
I know that there will be a lot of references but not this much
ころさんの持ってるゲーム機はワンダースワンでは?
ころねが持ってる携帯ゲーム機、ワンダースワンじゃない?
Www
I kinda want to see AVGN's reaction
o7
Whenever the song spells out "GAMERS" it could possibly be a reference to Five Nights at Freddy's 2 where whenever you die you have a chance of entering a minigame where you can hear a similar (it could actually be the exact same!) robotic voice spell out words
