What's the chance that Alison and Tom imprisoned him because they realise he is someone new, but they don't trust him? I mean the fact that he was the one to put the items on the pedestals in chapter 1, that he knows what items they are, AND that he knows there's a secret down there makes me suspect him, so I see it reasonable for Alison and Tom to do the same. It’s pretty common That Allison And Tom don’t trust Henry As I’ve seen something similar where two characters don’t trust one Character so they hold them Prisoner.
