Im loving your videos. You bring the nostalgia feeling in me. An Easterner, my whole life growing up in the eastern part of Singapore. Thank you for covering what our school history books didn't. You covered my history lessons in 1 short video that I learnt through my old relatives, teachers and historians.
And please don't give me a heart attack by walking away further and further away from your brommie..Yah, Singapore IS a safe country but..."Low crime doesn't mean No crime"...

Richard, the colourful eucalyptus gum tree at the fort road park is called" katong park". It was famous renowned park back in the 50s 60s in my.parents era and many of my aunties and uncles relatives dated here in their hey days. Heard it was packed area with many couples going there with street hawkers lined up.around the park in the evenings and weekends. Pity the govt did not.allow the tradition to prolong just like the famous bugis street beach road hawkers. The old esplanade park was once bustling street hawkers too famously.all these hawkers served great food until the early 80s. Just sharing withn you too if not.for your welcoming historical video👍

Fun fact I learn from my grandma, East coast reclamation's sand came from the Bedok HDB area which is relatively flat. The original landscape of Bedok is similar to Siglap which is hilly!

    • @AsiaHikelopedia

Oh Tanjong Rhu. My dad use to work at Vosper Thornycroft naval ship builders there until it was decommissioned in the mid to late 80s era. I was amount 5 but I was struck by seeing empty vessel ships and the room with all the shop models where the Naval architects were. Few of these Naval architects stayed in Singapore as marine consultants until 2020 or so. LOL.

Walking from to my old primary school Haig Boys near Katong Shopping Centre. Life was eazy even we dnt have much money that time but its was very meaningful. Every day we will spend time at the beach, fishing, bbq and have lots of fun with family and friends and not much people. The happiest moment of all time till the end of 80s

Cher cher**, thanks for the history lessons 😍💘! Gosh didn't know anything abt 20 houses or Emmerson (Raffles hotel part) 😲🤔. Was listening attentively abt the shipping industry and then suddenly you say "I am so hungry"🤣🤣, caught me off guard totally but that was funny. Thanks for the informative, educational video. Lol. Go, go take a good break. Merry Xmas and happy new year, blessings upon you and family ✌️🤗🌻🌈!
**Cher is a local term for teacher, shortened version. Many of us used it during our younger days as students. Still in use today.... I think. Lol.
