I haven't done a lot of laid-back songs, even though I very much dig jamming to them.. so I LOVED recording this one. Not as tight as I hoped it would be (practiccccce..) and I also totally missed the splash bell at 2:18, confessed :) Anyways, John Mayer = beyond legend.. so this was AWESOME.

Found myself going back through old videos, I didn’t realise until now that Cobus is probably the first person to introduce John Mayer to me! Would be awesome if he was to revisit this!
this is not overplaying because it's a DRUM cover..emphasizing the drums.. if he kept the same exact pattern the song did then there wouldn't be much to show off..
i love love love this video with a passion, the beat stays steady whole time, but i LOVE how he incorporates all of the little intricate things like ghost notes on the highs and snare!!! this is totally my style of my playing love it cobus keep it up man

Cobus is amazing, and i admire him just for this video because he does whatever the hell he wants to do. you never expect what song he's gonna cover next, and he does songs like Bat Country and Afterlife which of course are hard, because lets face it, The Rev was amazing (R.I.P), but he's never subjective to anything. Never thinks he's too good for certain songs and will always just sit down and play a nice little groovy song by John Mayer, and make it AMAZING! cheers Cobus, your a god.

with john mayer tunes, i think he puts like...idunno, a lot of "open space" in them so those who cover his songs can fill it in with whatever they want. i think he purposely writes his music in this manor so his fans may express their creativity within his own music. like cobus clearly did he, and not to mention this sounds amazing.

To everyone dissing Cobus playing this song: I would LOVE for you to play as many genres as he does, and do it as well as he does. Obviously since this is a COVER of a song, he's not trying to have the original feel. He's having his own feel of the song.

really if you look at it cobus does basically his own version of each song...and yes it wasnt as tight as his other covers and there was the missed splash bell.... but the tom triplet he has introduced and the cross over tom fill with the tri picture

this is very good! this song is kinda difficult to play with all of its off beats and the jazz/rock feel it has but i like how you did your own thing with it and made it sound ten times better i think lol
