I grew up in Hammond moved out in 2009 New years Eve. Glad to see Columbia Gyros is still open around this time. Well haven't been to Hammond in years so at least glad to see the building is still there. Such a great place.
I’m from Hammond but was raised in Oakland,Ca, just visited my grandma, my aunt and older sister in July, Wolf lake is gorgeous, and the casino boat is nice. Much more nicer than Gary.
I grew up in south Hammond. 23 years there. Great childhood and memories. Left in 1990. Different now. My old neighborhood has changed a bit. Houses 125-150 there so you were correct. Cheers for the video.
There is so very little left of the downtown Hammond I knew in the early/mid 1980's. Minas, Goldblatts, Penney's, Rabins etc. I worked for the City of Hammond in the 80's.
Man, I remember going to that McDonalds WAY back in 1978 when I was like 4 or 5. My mom bought me a small chocolate shake with a straw that was shaped like Ronald's head. LOL! The Menard's was... Zayre's, I think?
Born there and grew up in east chigetto. I can write a book on that area. It went to shit in the early 80's. Graduated from noll in 82' and then prairie state college in 83 and 84. If anybody wants to know about that area let me know. In 1981 more than 10,000 people lost their living wage jobs all at once, I remember. If I get time I will write a book on that area that will titled "My point of View".
Thank you for your channel. Northwest Indiana us an area that has seen better days, but Hammond is better than Gary by far.i used to take a Greyhound bus that stopped in Gary and Hammond Indiana

Hammond actually touches Chicago. Where I lived, it was a 5 minute bike ride.
According to Wikipedia, Hammond is part of Chicago's fringes.

Thanks for the ride.
You get into downtown Hammond when you cross Douglas driving north on Hohman, in my opinion. At about the 17:30 mark.
It would be nice to know the names of the streets you are driving down for a sense of direction.
