I have seen mega airports built in less time than it is taking to renovate Timehri Airport. It’s been more than 10 years since the renovation began. Wow!
Bantu king, wrong, it's been 13yrs to build this little shitty airport that no one recognized has an airport. People in the Caribbean are laughing at us. I have seen Ghana built a beautiful world class airport comparable to European standards in two years time for 300 million USD. Guyana is blighted and curse. We just can't get anything done.
The building that is going up on the other side of the airport near the departures drop off is going to be an administrative building to house Airline offices and offices for airport management
The plan was to build a new airport with 8 jets ways in the first place, but the APNU went in power and modified the old building with 4 jets ways and cost them more.
Hopefully the air bridge has an electric/automatic rolling system on the surface, where you have the option to not walk....similar to the ones at jfk, schiphol ..etc

Many grew up calling it Timehri Airport, others call it such to show respect to the amerindians as the name change can be seen as disrespectful, the Amerindians are the natives of Guyana after all, which ever name should be fine, they are talking about the same thing

Where the average traveller entering this country will see “Cheddi Jagan international” on their boarding pass or on the info screen. I can call you by your maiden name if you like. But that doesn’t reflect reality.
A waste of money. Ghana built a world class airport with the same money, 300 million USD. And by the time we are finished building this ugly airport it will reach over 300 million USD. We have already spent over 200 million USD and we ain't close to finished this dump.
Blame the PNCR/APNU because If the APNU did not interfere with the original plan and reduce the footprint, the airport would have been much more nicer and more modern. And another thing, you sound more of a dump than the airport. And can’t you see this new government is trying to save airports and make it into something better.

They are screening outgoing travelers for drugs not locals who are visiting that airport.
