I feel so seen lol I also forget what I meant to use it for after I order the random color of yarn especially the variegated ones and then they just sit there 😅😂 so glad I’m not the only one
Awesome wrap up video! Great job this year! 🎉 Thank you for addressing so many aspects of your crochet business. It was very helpful for us that are newer to to this. I especially loved hearing your thoughts on etsy vs. something like shopify. I agree that your own website is a great idea. I'm contemplating all of that for my business right now, too. Thank you for sharing, and look forward to this new year!! ❤
@rusticheritagecrochet aww, yaaay!! So glad it was helpful to hear some of this part of the business side of things. Definitely looking into another platform for selling online. I know there is a fee for those websites, but it has to be cheaper than what I'm paying in fees. Thank you so much for watching 🫶
This was the best crochet wrap up I’ve seen. Extremely informative and interesting. I think I’m going to have to check out that caramel color. I use a ton of Terra cotta from Michael’s, but I have a hard time getting stock and it’s not a fun yarn to work with. Thanks for the video!!
I'm so glad it was helpful! It's definitely a color you can't go wrong with. Here's the link if you'd like it! www.premieryarns.com/collections/premier-basix-line/products/bchbrights?variant=40423642333266
This was a great vlog. I liked the fact that you talked about some of the things that no one really mentions, such as adding taxes. I guess that is one of my pet peeves about the business end of things. For those of us who do add tax, it annoys me that there are so many that don't, and then when customers come into our booths to shop and pay, they are annoyed that WE add tax, even with cash sales!! Anyway, all of my price tags and signs say the price, with "plus tax" at the bottom, and even then, some customers act surprised!. I totally agree with you on the shopping from my stash, I definitely need to do more of that too, LOL!
I'm so glad it resonated! It can be hard sometimes to see other businesses not charge sales tax. I just try to remind myself that everyone is doing what they need to do for their business. I know several put the sales tax in their pricing so that it's an even number and not deal with change, but that just didn't fit into the way I needed my business to run. 🩷
I love following your small business, Allyssa! As a fellow small business owner, you brought up some great points I hadn’t considered. Building out my website is a goal I have for this year too! Thanks again you for all you share with us makers!
i like that color sweater, cute rose color!! share your shopping spot 🛍🛍🛍 i really like your recap. it was fun and insightful but not too heavy, if that makes sense. i like that it was a bit on the longer and chatty side not just all fact and figures, which is also ok, i obviously would have watched that as well. GOOD VIDEO.
@kimethaturner152 thank you so much!! I recently just picked up this sweater from Pulse Boutique. I'll link it here 🥰 www.thepulseboutique.com/products/captivating-in-color-knit-sweater-berry?_pos=1&_sid=232163766&_ss=r They currently are running a sale for 30% off with the code SWEATER30.
Very interesting and informative video. I can say I’ve had more sales from Facebook friends and my family than at any market I’ve attended. I’ve only done a few small town markets so perhaps this year I can find bigger ones and have better sales. An online shop appeals to me too, I’m seriously considering Square. I don’t want to even try Etsy due to the excessive fees.
It's so interesting to hear your experience! I feel like you've had a good experience with Facebook and family sales, and that's amazing. I know you're not alone, Etsy has so many high fees.
I am looking forward to watching your business continue to grow in 2025. I've found a lot of wonderful patterns through your channel and look forward to them every week. I was a bit startled to hear you use the term "gypped".Gyp/gypped is a racial slur derived from the term gypsy.
@SkullyBooSalem thank you so much for watching my videos and I'm so glad that you were able to discover new patterns. Thank you so much for bringing this to my attention, I didn't even think of that as I was chatting. I truly didn't mean for it to be insulting or use in a derogatory way.
@SkullyBooSalem After I take my children to school, I will go into youtube and see about deleting that section of the video out. I appreciate you so much for bringing this to my attention.
I was able to edit the published video and take out the section. Thank you again. TH-cam said it would take a few hours to process the new video, so for now it will still be the older version until it's updated.
Love your haircut! Very informative video. Could you maybe go into depth on how you reconcile yarn for tax purposes? My business is a sole proprietorship not an LLC. Not sure if that makes a difference.
Thank you! I will share the document I use for my business that helps with tax related questions such as inventory for yarn and inventory total for finished product goods, cost of goods, etc. shop.paperandspark.com/collections/inventory-tracking/products/inventoryfor-batch-makers-multiple-quantity-handmade-sellers
so funny 34:00 you're talking about variegated yarn colors like "whadda I do with that?!!!" make fun dino loveys with solid spikes. those variegated colors usually work well for unisex and then just do some solid spikes. hope thats helpful. if not then just let me know and ill give you my address and you can send them to me. wink wink 😉
I really enjoyed this video! Love your haircut! I am making the cuddle critters now. Could you tell me what colour you used for the deer cuddle critter. I use Bernat Blanket yarn. I can’t seem to find the right colour.
