I just loved this, My family for generations have enjoyed Edward Lear's wonderful rhymes and still they live on enduring the test of time. Your animation is enchanting. Edward Lear must never be forgotten :)
I am a sort of musician and write a lot of music for children. I have become completely fascinated with the poetry and writings of Edward Lear, his wonderful artwork and indeed his amazing life story. What a beautiful mind and unique person. I wondered how you decided upon the Jumblies as an animation and whether you had explored and animated any other of his works? I am introducing some of his poetry into my children's music sessions, The Quangle Wangle's hat and of course, The Owl and the Pussy Cat. I am always making little things out of paper and fabric, and trying to make them come to life one way or another and your style really appealed to me, in the way it is like a book is coming to life. I think he would have approved! Thank you Caroline :)
A trip down into vastly forgotten aeons when I was 11 years old and a prep master who thought Lear was worthy of a laureateship.... Very nicely done too, especially the sea animation which was very cleverly done. Top class reading to boot!
Thank you for this a trip down memory lane when I used to borrow this poetry book from the library so I could have my daily dose of the Jumblies, its even more entertaining if you put on the subtitles - you tube has re-written this poem!!
