And the fact that Korea is so romanticised and admired because of Kdramas and Kpop and that so many people eagerly wish they could live there or date a Korean person without knowing what is really going on there and how Korean women especially are being seen and treated there and have to suffer is a whole other issue.

If so, she should get one of those so she can be more comfortable and not worry about getting soiled. But, I have to admit she is so strong and mighty in such a small body. I know another US case similar to this one and it was done to an adult, unfortunately she did not make it tho. I do hope sooner than later that SK changes their whole Judicial system to help protect victims instead of the other way around. There seems to be too many cases where it feels no one got justice or that too much neglect and not enough sympathy/care from law enforcements and other ppl in authority to take any of the victims seriously. Because if these bottom of the barrel ppl are only getting slaps on the wrist, the long sentences are given to petty crimes HAS to be... genuinely feel nauseous multiple times listening to this... anger and dry heaves quite literally
I hazard three primary reasons... With his degree of compulsion and rage issues and the limit on his drinking, not to mention going from having a disgustingly but legitimately respected place in prison hierarchy, now being back on the outside, I guarantee you he wants someone to come after him. All that prep in prison isn't just about self-defense someone like him would just love for an ordinary person to try to come take him the gross degenerate out only for him to beat them to appalled if not killed him outright and then claim defense. It's just another way to stroke his own ego. Next obviously on some level she's very much likely wants to be a constant reminder and mental emotional psychological thorn in the victims mind in the mind of her family, to let her know that she may have gotten him locked up but just look at the overall result, not even a decade and she's still back to having to be in close proximity to him with no legal ramifications whatsoever. Her for going to the police and ask her did it change anything? Also make sure everyone else knows that he is the one in control he is the one with the power... Last he looks at this not as his home the sea is his territory, and that time in prison did not make that any less true in his mind of anything it's sharpened that sense of entitlement over an entire city. The law doesn't matter, please don't matter, even the public doesn't matter at the end of the day he views it as his territory and he is reclaiming it and he wants them to know it. Annette theory about them being able to relate to the perpetrator, I wouldn't say all politicians are people in power but I would definitely say a disturbing number many probably don't even realize it... Mostly because just like the perpetrator many of them have a false inflated ego that leads to you and obnoxious sense of self-righteousness, meaning of the very idea of them having to think of what they're doing is wrong or worse disgusting is absolutely offensive to them as they think of themselves as "other". The primary similarity between the two groups or individuals and question being that they are completely okay with detrimentally affecting the lives of individuals and or large groups of people even in a very detrimental way because it solves a means to an end... Some of them make convinced themselves this means to an end is better for everyone or better for themselves, others are so biased or discriminatory they feel that this action no matter who it harms will make things better for a certain group of people who are more deserving and yes they are typically going to group them in with that more deserving population as well. Many of them will consider the fact that they are willing it to go out and do what some would call a heinous act is evidence of their being other because they're the ones that are willing to be an alpha individual and do the thing that average people are too cowardly a nd average, too beta if you will, to be willing to do what is necessary to maintain not only their own survival but their way of life or the way of life they feel they deserve along with whatever demographic they feel is also deserving the way they are.
1:47:12 I always hate that logic because it’s like, he is a monster but what’s our excuse? What’s the enforcements excuse? They can’t do that. We can’t do that. We can’t stoop to his level.
they wouldn’t be able to have a “Neighborhood Watch” app or anything in Korea bcs of the protection laws…. and the map would be feeler with red and blue….

I remember watching the movie Hope..and i cried for a week like this man is the most evil person ever
I think that people can change, and if they really do, they will also come to the conclusion that they deserve the punishment...

i think it's a cultural thing im from saudi and if knew someone is taking drugs it would be a big deal to me but when I see any American talking about it it's so normal
I think the point is how the crime is treated, because saudi has strict laws for drugs but CRAZY strict laws for sexual offenders, which is not the case in SK. I dont think anyone is questioning the cultural thing
yes, i get it but I see a lot of Americans talking about how they don't understand how drugs are treated in Asia but they don't know In many Asian countries, drug use is heavily stigmatized. It's not just about the individual, but the entire family's reputation is at stake if someone is found using drugs. This stigma is so intense that even a single instance of drug use can ruin the reputation of the whole family. @@Zyna-0

2:17:40 I think it is bad though. However South Korean law arrests citizens who smoke abroad. When they come back home they can still be arrested
there's a movie made about this case is soo heartbreaking i couldn't stop thinking about it for like a week ..it was painful to see but i felt as a psychologist and someone that has a genuine love and care for children i really wanted to be educated and understand their experiences in life...they really are one of the most vulnerable and violented on this earth together with women and animals these cases are more common that we think and i have so much compassion for them peopke are genuinely evil bro there's real evil in this world...the movie is called "hope" and also shows the struggles of parents after an abuse as violent as this one it explains their feelings of guilt after what happened to their daughter but also their resilience and strenght their spirit and willingness to do anything for their daughter that survived such a thing ❤️🩹 its the most angering, heartaching movie I've ever seen
