This is incredible. Just brute forcing their way through the game. I love how a game like this is only possible because the game won't let them play against the rules. If this were an IRL chessboard, it never would have worked. Like I love that they can genuinely just go in with almost zero knowledge and still technically play a proper game of chess. As well as being able to finish the game and still have almost no idea how the game is supposed to work lmao.

@@ThaSandwitch It happens because of two rules: One, making a move on your turn is required. Two, moving your king into check(mate) is illegal. So when your king is not already in check, but there are no moves available that won't put your king INTO check, then it is impossible for play to continue, which results in stalemate. It's like an analog game crash.

In the video, Miko's queens cover all the legal space around Subaru's king. In Subaru's case, the king is not under attack so it is stalemate instead

For that reason, some players could even prefer NOT to promote two queens to avoid accidental stalemate. Although, of course, you can mate using two queens safe and quickly with the right technique.
