I've seen her interviewed, she grew up in the desert in South Australia. Her father was a professional fox hunter and a musician and also played slide guitar in the band on this clip. She grew up beside the campfire at night singing and playing music. Some might think that's tough but I see it as an awesome upbringing. It's obviously shaped her into the artist and person that she now is. My parents met her and her parents when she was a teenager. They were travelling around Australia in their caravan and camping. Her parents were travelling around Australia performing country music at heaps of small towns . She must of made an impression because I remember my parents talking about her when she first started appearing on the radio over here in Australia years ago. They said what a lovely young lady she was and such a talented country music artist 😅 country music was the only type of music worth listening to in their opinion. To this day you can tell she doesn't take it for granted and is still a very warm lovely genuine lady. I hope this has given her that chance to be recognised for her talent to an international ordinance. I wish you and her every success with your endeavours 😊
I read her first autobiography a few years ago & was captivated by her amazing story, & natural writing style. Last I heard she's gone back to the bush... don't blame her. She's incredible live. I think her Blues On Broadbeach (Gold Coast, Queensland) gig was the best I'd seen... but they've all been incredible. Like John Farnham, she's best live.

The thing with this is that all the emotional beats were always there it's just the relentless cadence of Rap doesn't lend itself to conveying the subtler emotions. By slowing it down bout 40% and allowing those emotions to show through it elevates what was already great song. I am pretty sure Mathers would be proud that someone was able to bring the subtleties of his songwriting tot he fore in a way his own style never really could. The moment she kicks it up with that key change and goes all Janis Joplin bring home the same change in the original even more where fear gives way to anger and determination. I think she’s singing it from the perspective of the daughter, as an adult, finally understanding her father’s struggles and shortcomings and resilience 😮 her dad was a musician too…it’s just brilliant and beautiful and heartbreaking.

@johnnewman366 As we know from the Taylor Swift/Scooter Braun saga, there are various copyrights etc attached to music. I would be curious about which ones Em owns & which the record company/third parties own AND which ones apply to Apple Music/Spotify etc. I have a feeling it's complex & anyone making statements about the songwriter allowing or not allowing someone to publish a cover version on a streaming platform (no one has said it was for free, have they?) had better check all the legalities first. @@kathydurow6814 all of what you have questioned is public knowledge. Eminem does not own the rights to ‘lose yourself’. 8 mile style does. That is not his company.
That said, I'm hoping he has heard & approved this cover. I've heard Ed Sheeran & Kelly Clarkson try to do musical covers & I still think Kasey did it better.
@@kathydurow6814 all of what you have questioned is public knowledge. Eminem does not own the rights to ‘lose yourself’. 8 mile style does. That is not his company.
Cover songs do not require permission, they require notification of intent to cover, and assignment of statutory royalties. Again, this is public information. The copyright mess you refer to is around the original recordings, which this is not.
Unless em or Kasey publically state one way or the other, there is no way to know what his feelings on this cover are. Anyone who ties its presence on Spotify to his approval is a hopeful, clueless idiot.
@@johnnewman366 great argument... Care to fill me in on some of YOU'RE research since you failed to offer any counter argument to my logic whatsoever?
That is what the term "putting it all out there" was invented for... 😳🤯🥲😎
