I saw her perform this live at Bluesfest in Melbourne. We, as a crowd were like stunned mullets. We could not believe what we were hearing. I was right at the front and all you could hear was the occasional wow and oh my god. There were tears. The applause at the end was like an explosion. She is absolutely amazing.
The reason this video exists is because of all her fans filming. Kasey asked them to send any footage they may have and she was overwhelmed with videos and this was edited together. She’s the best!
I was at the concert. The average age of the crowd would of been late 40's. Civic theatre is seated and Kasey music is very much a listen and feel her emotions as she connects to her songs. But that song just hit different and feel majority of the crowd might not of recognised the song but in the end they appreciated it like it was her own. Just goes to show what a good lyricist Em is and what a talent Kasey is to bring that raw emotion.
she is a country and western star in australia and lyrics that touch her she does her version of the songs . She has won 40 country guitar awards and a golden guitar award
and just to add a little juice to the whole performance, that's her dad shredding it on lap/steel with his cowboy hat on. Amazing, I just never get sick of this performance and I have never been a rap or hip-hop fan, considering I am an octogenerian..... it's still gets me each time I hear it.... great reaction and glad you didn't pause, pause, pause like some reactions....
Just to add also, it's a seated theatre more accustomed to musicals and stage productions than rock concerts. The theatre is heritage listed (important historic building), which likely also means that there could be rules banning jumping up and down to protect the building that wasn't built for modern equipment weight and audience dancing.
In my opinion ( yeah, I know opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one ), but I think most hard core rap "Purists" will not like this.......but Kasey's heart-felt, real emotion.......told from a female perspective........makes this performance stand alone.....besides, artists cover songs (1) to give props to the original and (2) to express their interpretation of what they felt from the original .........The Fairy Voice Mother said "She strums that banjo like it owes her money !"
Thank you for your wonderful reaction to our Kasey! This is a testament to Em’s lyrics, Kasey’s passion, love of the song (and reimagining during lockdown) and her innate ability to draw the power in a live performance. ❤ As to a seated audience…that is the norm in an Australian theatre/closed venue performance. Me, if I would have been there in Newcastle that night….I would have been on my feet the moment the band kicked in and groovin’, theatre or no damned theatre! 😂 Think we all “lose ourselves in the music, the moment” during this performance! ❤ Kudos to Kasey, the band, and her Dad, Bill, on slide. Also…totally illegal what Kasey does with the banjo during this! 😂
❤❤❤ Lol...Thanks for saying you thought this person could pull this off...OOPS!!! THAT WOMAN PULLED IT OFF!!! WITH A BANJO!!!! enjoyed watching you react to this 👏 👏 👏
I think the crowd was as dumbstruck as I was, and still am! Your face when the band kicked in, that! That’s how I felt exactly. Funny that music can connect people, I’m a little white boy in New Zealand and you a black dude in the states, grooving on the same vibe! Cool as fuck dude, I’m subbed!subscribed
Just so you know, the civic theatre is super steep and old. If everyone stood and rocked out who knows, cheers from Oz. You should look into a lot more from our fine country.
I've watched these reactions, quite a bit of them..and you were the FIRST who pointed out the seated crowd. And then I noticed it for the rest of the video! Amazing video ❤
@@WadeLiveTV It was in an actual theatre though, not a gig in a pub or whatever, so the whole space was seated. But you can hear their enthusiasm at the end!
@@WadeLiveTV it’s a seated venue and you heard some at the transition but we don’t want to ruin it for everyone else by being loud and pre applauding. We wait till the artist is done then EXPLODE THE HOUSE DOWN! At the end of this song everyone was on their feet mate! It blew us all away!
@@alliegal45 LOL .. why? Different culture - jumping around in a seated theatre and making a lot of noise would just ruin the experience of all of the others wanting to listen and would make you look like a fool.
In Australia in a seated theatre, you have to remain seated. No standing or dancing allow usually. Also, I think the audience was stunned at this performance. I know I was.
The Civic can be a bit tetchy. My first show there was a Guy Sebastian concert. They tried to keep us seated but Guy over-ruled. I think it's an OK rule to have especially if it's an artist who also has a lot of child fans.
Very well said. 👍👍 I'm with you 100%. Is there any reason for anyone in the audience to make any noise to distract from, or drown out the music for everyone else? Most musicians have enough confidence in their ability that they don't need any reassurance. So, NO! No reason. Audiences should be quiet and let everyone hear, then show their appreciation at the end. Making noise during a performance is disrespectful of the artist and others in the audience. Best Wishes for 2024. ☮
@@WadeLiveTV What a disappointing response. You had a great opportunity to respond with grace, sensitivity and intelligence. You could have acknowledged comments. You could have explained why you don't feel making noise during a performance is disrespectful to the artists or the rest of the audience. You might have explained why you think drowning out the artist's performance for the rest of the audience is NOT childish or selfish. You could have explained that you wouldn't feel you were being authentic reacting any differently. However, you failed every opportunity. Worse, you didn't even thank people for feedback. I am not your target audience. Best Wishes for 2024. ☮

God given talents fr !!
So envious! ❤
The crowd were mesmerised, stunned into silence as it all washed over them.
lol I know right
And this was in a traditional theater, there wasn't enough room to stand without blocking everyone's view (or falling over).
I've been to concerts in this theatre before and v as Brett said, you'd struggle to stand up and rock. It's quite an intimate venue.
It's also sometimes par for the course for Aussie crowds. We're often quite relaxed :)
They knew she was recording
Eminem loved it so much that he allowed her to put it up on Spotify. The vid comes from crowd footage that she crowdsourced. Creativity af.
One of the best covers I've seen. Certainly the most passionate performance I have ever seen.
