A few people I know all brought me to this reason it holds up so well today. As kids we connected and related with Max thinking Goofy was in the wrong but now same kids who watched it originally related and connected to Goofy and saw the flaws in Max. It's perfectly balanced with nobody in the right or the wrong but very true to life.
My dad is Jymn Magon. He not only wrote A Goofy Movie, but had a helping hand in a lot of the Disney Afternoon. It blows his mind that people still talk about his work let alone still hold it so dear to their hearts. So thank you for keeping his work and his passions alive!

Back then, just seeing Max trying to be cool and trying to get the girl was so relatable. But now, as an adult, I understand so much what it means to Goofy to just have a loving bond with his son. This movie is a timeless classic!
That's one of the truly great things about this film. As a kid, it's VERY easy to relate to Max's side of the story. As an adult, it's JUST as easy to relate to Goofy's side. Both sides were given a fair and realistic treatment that let's the relevant demographic see themselves within. Thus it remains relevant even after growing up.
Yeah I feel the same way. As a kid just seen Max doing those cool moves and getting a girl was all the hype for me. But now it's an adult I understand the whole story better I really didn't fully understand what Max was getting in trouble for. I just wanted him to get the girl.
What's even more mindblowing is how well this movie resonated with urban themes at the time, from the high schoolers to POWERLINE. They caught lightning in a bottle.

As a 90s kid, it’s truly to hard to explain why this movie means so much to me. The best way I can put it is that this film was the unexpected because it came at a time where it was nothing but Disney films based off of a renaissance story. It was just a classic road trip movie. It dared to be different with characters we already know and love.
This movie has so much rewatch value. The story, the characters, the songs, the tension between what was driving the 2 main characters. It was so well made.
To be fair, I think the movie is extremely relatable no matter what race you are. I never correlated the struggles faced by the characters in this movies as uniquely black struggles. Like with the principal, I always viewed his attitude toward max akin to that of an old person thinking all teenagers are hooligans and not of one of racial prejudice. But I can see how one could draw that conclusion.
This. I know people want to read themselves into the movies they watch but what makes a movie relatable is it's ability to connect what makes us universally human. I come from a smaller city so the "urban" idea is lost to me. Us small towners connected for the same reasons. Everyone feels left out and misunderstood by the peers, parents and kids. The principal was clearly very out of touch with the teens in his school (suggesting they spend their summers having science slumber parties....no typical small-town white kid is doing that either).
Agree, I am Hispanic woman the grow up in the 90’s. This is 90’s culture but the story and struggle is something we all go through at some point of our lives, parents learning to let go and kids realizing parents are not the enemy but someone to guide you in life. A small but loud protion of them African American community really believes they are the inventors of being cool. Last I check there are not many black skaters which is what culture Max was part of. It was mostly a white kid thing (I know there were non white kids skateboarding but the vast majority were white)
It's the fact that the movie was heavily influenced by New Jack Swing, which is black pop music. But yea, this movie isn't about black struggles at all.
I have very fond memories of owning this VHS and watching it way more than once with my dad, after his divorce. Me being a latino child, we liked the movie for different reasons, but watching it together on a Friday evening was a repeated bonding moment in our lives. I grew up and eventually the movie kind of faded into my memory, but would come back time to time. We always got along fine, me and my dad, he was my best friend, but there were several moments during my teenage years where I would feel cringey with how he acted and would lash out against him once and again. When I was a young adult, I saw the movie being broadcast and I watched and, while watching it, I saw me and my dad from Goofy’s perspective, finally understanding why my dad loved this movie so much. I understood that his cringey moments were his attempts to keep relevant in my life as I was growing up and I cried after watching. I talked to him one day about the movie after that, saying how I missed watching it with him and invited him over to watch it with me again. He smiled and agreed that we would eventually watch it. We ended up never watching… I miss you, dad, and I love you ❤️

Man, this brings me back. I loved the Powerline song. Also, as others said, the movie hit a lot of relatable notes. You had Goofy's perspective where he just wants to be part of his son's life while Max is scared he'll turn into his dad. Many of us were scared we'd become our parents, fearful of adulthood. Many of us realized adulthood comes all-too-soon for some while it comes for others if they want it to or not.
Mate! This was my favourite Disney Channel movie. I ALWAYS used to cry at the point where they have "hi dad" soup. I know it ain't that deep but this film made me understand my dad a bit more when I was like 12.
Bill Farmer did an AMAZING job at making Goofy a relatable and realistic character while still *sounding* like Goofy, that could not have been easy. No one else could have done that.
The Goofy Movie is a great example of how morals or priorities can shift as we get older. Max is a teen crushing on a girl, likes the latest #1 pop star, and is embarrassed by his accident prone dad; very relatable as a kid. Meanwhile Goofy doesn't fully understand his son, but is doing his best to try and be part of his life and keep him out of the electric chair; very relatable as a parent watching. The movie really shines when the two meet in the middle, sharing their interests with each other instead of trying to force their own interests on the other. When Goofy gives Max control of the map, he originally picks things he wants to do before choosing destinations him and Goofy could find joy in together while Goofy shows trust in his son to make the right decisions.
I still have the VHS tape to this day. I would watch it every weekend as a kid, I absolutely love A Goofy movie. Hilarious moments, great and catchy songs, and a father and son story where they reconnect and become closer again.
The Powerline songs always get all the credit and rightfully so they are fantastic but “On the Open Road” and “Nobody Else But You” are underrated classics! They represent a beautiful story about a father and song from a company who often kills off the parents.
One of my absolute favorite animated movies and Disney movie, even being born after it came out and even recently rewatching it. I love it without a doubt and will always hold a place in my heart

This is why diversity and inclusion are so important.
Well yes and NO. A Goofy movie was diverse AND it was WELL WRITTEN. MODERN Disney and it's seconds are "kicking and screaming" at their customer base to be predictable and easy to entertain with cut-price story telling...with a "side" of "diversity". Context, friend. Here you go! >;)

Minus how painfully awkward Goofy is when he's being stereotypically... You know, the official Goofy character... This movie is fucking overflowing with heart. "I have my own life now, Dad!" "I know you do, son, I just... I just wanted to be a part of it." That. Right there. That's the core. Everyone can understand that.
This movie always holds a special place for me. I loved it when I was young as a son who couldn't see I2I (sorry had to) with his dad to now a father of 2 soon to be teenagers just trying to "be a part of it" in their lives. Every time I watch this movie the flood of emotions hits me like a tower of cheddar to the face.
Sometimes, when you have to work with a small budget, it many ways it is better because more effort, heart and work goes into a project and that is exactly why the film was gold.
When I was a little kid, I begged my grandma to take me to see a Goofy Movie, and she did. And it's an amazing memory, trying to explain to everyone how cool I2I was, and having trouble finding a way to hear it again. Then again as an adult, I got to see it in theaters at the El Capitan in Hollywood a few years ago. I don't think most people have seen this in theaters, but i've seen it twice.
This movie was a huge part of my childhood growing up. Unlike many programs marketed towards the pre-teen to teenaged audience, this movie felt like it got it exactly right for the mid-1990s while being broad enough so that any person from any time period could relate to it. Also, Goofy's yearning to bond with Max, who he saw was distancing himself away from him and from being a "Goof", being the backbone and propelling point of the film is what has given this movie its enduring quality. It really hits you at the core. Also, did anybody else think "Roxanne" looked like early-to-mid 1990s "Mariah Carey"?
This is one of those true childhood gems for me, because we didn't have this on VHS, our grandparents did (left by our older cousin). So I could only watch it at my grandparents' and it was obscure enough for those certain years, that I never saw it in a store for us to buy it home. And because of that, it's one of the rare Disney movies I've never seen in English. And I am slightly afraid to see it, because I know they redubbed the movie for DVD due to some questionable dubbing choices (when Max tells Lester to beat it, after Lester hugs him, the original dub said something like "quit perving on me!"). The Finnish dubs have always been really good, so I guess it would still be really good, but when it's a movie you've seen so many times, the changes in words, cadence, rythym, anything, can really feel off.
My poor mother.. she rented this movie for my brother and me when we were little kids, and we ended up crying and angry at how sad the scene where Goofy and Max have a argument was :( :( Don't think I've ever watched it again, lol.

As a black kid in the 90s this movie was life. It was so black. It was blacker than Lion King and that took place in Africa lol and the Eye to Eye song lol we used to get so hype to that. It's funny a few years ago me and some friends were talking about this movie and since then it's just kept popping up and rising in popularity. I'm happy about that. I'm going to have to look for a digital download to watch with my kids. It's hard to share stuff with them... they have cell phones lol
Goofy was always my favorite character, but even moreso following this movie. He was just the kind of father I thought he would be. The film worked because of its problems, not in spite of them. Just like life.
Every single time i watch this movie i cry at the "dad, dad! Do the perfect cast!" The switch up of Max having faith and being proud of his dad in that moment when he needed help. Gets me every time
You’re not lying about the success of this film in the black community. We used to rent this from blockbuster multiple times. At the time we didn’t know why we liked it so much, but looking back it had hella swag. From the way max dressed, the way he danced, the way PJ’s dads was and POWERLINE sealed it!
Goofy Movie is my favourite Disney movie. My sister and I didn't have very much growing up , we were quite poor but my mum did her best to give us things she never had. So when she had spare money she would buy us Disney movies on VHS 📼. We ended up having nearly all of the Disney movies which adored but Goofy Movie was by far our favourite. This movie brought us so much joy in our childhood. I think because we saw a slice of ourselves in it. Goofy movie felt like a piece of black culture which is non-existent in Disney. As kids, we watched it so much that we memorized the words and would recite snippets of the movie to each other and be in barrels of laughter My sister and I are in our 30s now and we we still recite parts of the movie and just laugh. Your father must of been so proud of his work and as his child it must feel your heart with pride too. 🥰🥰🥰🥰 Thank you Mr. Magon 🥰

The fact Katzenberg requested the project and even laid out the basic plot, and then just proceeded to not give a shit, sums up corpo execs so perfectly...
I loved this movie the moment i saw it, the first week it hit video. The comedic timing is impeccable, the dramatic silences and pauses are impactful but subtle. The animation is fluid but direct. And the songs are amazing. It is one of the first times I realized that I loved my father but was ashamed of social stigma to express affection. It helped me grow as a person, a lot. I'm very happy to see that it has built a legacy and hope further generations are shown the joy and depth it has to offer.
Goofy is like, the nicest dude, esp out of the Mickey characters. Why wouldn’t he be a kind father? Now, a competent father I can see being a surprise just because, you know, he’s goofy.

I adore this movie! I was exactly Max’s age when it came out, so I really related to him. Imo, its two pop songs, “I 2 I” and “Stand Out”, are arguably the best Disney movie songs ever made. I still listen to them and sing along occasionally.
I watched this movie as a kid and I can't shake the feeling like, even though I was watching a cartoon film on disney channel it feels like I was sitting down to an HBO movie I can't quite get yet. Years later, looking back at this film and I totally understand where those feelings came from. This was a film with mature themes that would resonate more for modern living adults and teens than anything currently airing on disney at that time.
It's incredible that you've put out this video, because just last week we watched both the 1st and 2nd goofy movie. We needed a nice lighthearted film, and it was exactly what we called for. It's so interesting that things just seem to align sometimes. Thanks for this video, I never would've thought it was an underdog project, but it definitely was a success to us.
I love this movie so much. I first watched it in daycare when I was like 6 because we would watch all the classics like Land Before Time and the Chipmunks Adventure. I’ve been obsessed with it ever since. I’m not the target demographic at all because I’m a 19 year old white women. I was in no way near to being born when this movie came out but I still love the story and heart that it has and I’m so glad it’s on Disney+ so I can watch it anytime I want. I’m also a musical nerd so the songs are super fun and catchy. If I want to get pumped up then I turn on Stand out and Eye To Eye every time.
I’m a 2000’s kid who discovered a goofy movie randomly in my DVD collection and I LOVE THIS MOVIE. I literally have watched it over 60 times, usually a couple times a day as a kid. I loved the music, it’s perfect for young kids who just wants to watch older kids in age appropriate content.
My dad bought me this movie on vhs one night when me and him had a “daddy- daughter night” he has since forgotten about this movie and event in life but I will FOREVER think of my dad when I see this movie. Especially because our relationship was strained for years. I plan on having “nobody else but you” being my wedding dance with him (no matter how “goofy” it may seem)
My younger brother’s favorite movie for about 6 months when it came out on VHS. He was 4, I was 12/13. He watched it nearly everyday. I would catch myself watching parts of too almost every time. I never got sick of it either. To this day, we quote parts of it. One of the greatest movies over. “My life’s a living hel…” “HELLO LITTLE BUDDY!”
I learned to make the Sasquatch voice later on in life just because I loved this movie so much as a kid. My little brother had a habit of watching movies over and over to the point everyone hated them, and he would throw a tantrum until he got his way. This movie, Mortal Kombat and MK2, and the original TMNT trilogy, were the only ones where really the only ones where I was perfectly fine with it. It wasn't until we both discovered Monty Python, Mel Brooks, and The Goonies at the tail end of my elementary school years that we had other shared interests to bond over like that, cinematically.
The movie was made for kids like me at the time it had everything. A cool friend that loves cheese whips, a cute girl to impress. A lack of understanding between young and old, the movie had a good story and makes kids want to aspire to make everything work out in the end. If you don’t know who it was made for than maybe you’re too young to see it when it was first released.
I like cgi animation of today but my heart will always love the traditional hand drawn animation of yesterday. God bless the nine old men forever after!
I loved this movie. I could've related with Max and still understand where Goofy was coming from. I remember yelling at my tv saying, "You guys have to talk this out" and when they did it felt wonderful. The soundtrack is perfect. I still play Eye To Eye to this day. I'm grateful to all those involved in making this movie because at the time I was Max to my Mom but after watching I started to include and appreciate her more. Thanks
A Goofy Movie feels relevant because when you watched it as a kid, you sided with Max, now as an adult with kids of my own, I get Goofy and understand him. It makes for a great rewatch and longevity of the movie.
Disney should make more movie about Mickey’s gang or Duck Family. I mean, they’re the company’s most iconic character and also got a lot of story potential to tell. I would pay anything to watch a 2D Scrooge McDuck origin movie
When I was a kid my mom and granny LOVED this movie. I never even thought about how Black it was. I always noticed Powerline but I figured everyone else was just white.
I really wish they would make more original films starring their classic flagship characters, instead of relegating them to Playhouse Disney shows while cranking out live action remakes of retellings of old timey folklore.
My main complaint with this movie was that it aged every one up but ONLY focused on the male characters of the "Goof Troop" TV series not the female ones. it was for people who saw the series but also made for fans of Goofy and didn't fit the canon of either not to my satisfaction Post Disney Afternoon people are enjoying what's basically an episode of the series with out knowing the missing characters. And it never connected back to Duck Tales or Darkwing or Chip and Dale. It would have been so fun to have included aged up Duck Tales and Chipmunk characters.
Never understood why they didn't include Pistol and Peg from the show. I can only conclude they just really wanted to focus on Max and Goofy's relationship....or Peg divorced Pete at some point 🤷🏾♂️

I connected to the story because of the Roxanne plot line lol every kid went through that experience trying to impress a girl they liked
I felt a strong connection to the leaning tower of cheeszah!

Mate! This was my favourite Disney Channel movie. I ALWAYS used to cry at the point where they have "hi dad" soup. I know it ain't that deep but this film made me understand my dad a bit more when I was like 12.

Bill Farmer did an AMAZING job at making Goofy a relatable and realistic character while still *sounding* like Goofy, that could not have been easy. No one else could have done that.
Agreed. The brilliant Pinto Colvig laid the character's groundwork, but Bill's played the character to the hilt. He'll always be my Goofy.

The Goofy Movie is a great example of how morals or priorities can shift as we get older. Max is a teen crushing on a girl, likes the latest #1 pop star, and is embarrassed by his accident prone dad; very relatable as a kid. Meanwhile Goofy doesn't fully understand his son, but is doing his best to try and be part of his life and keep him out of the electric chair; very relatable as a parent watching. The movie really shines when the two meet in the middle, sharing their interests with each other instead of trying to force their own interests on the other. When Goofy gives Max control of the map, he originally picks things he wants to do before choosing destinations him and Goofy could find joy in together while Goofy shows trust in his son to make the right decisions.
I still have the VHS tape to this day. I would watch it every weekend as a kid, I absolutely love A Goofy movie. Hilarious moments, great and catchy songs, and a father and son story where they reconnect and become closer again.
The Powerline songs always get all the credit and rightfully so they are fantastic but “On the Open Road” and “Nobody Else But You” are underrated classics! They represent a beautiful story about a father and song from a company who often kills off the parents.

Man this movie has such a special place in my heart. This is easily my second favorite Disney movie of all time! Some of the best Disney songs, the story! I saw this movie in theaters when I was 10, and loved it. Watched it a million times on vhs. Not to mention "Stand Out" is still a damn good song.
This movie has a special place for me, when I went to Shriners hospital, every night I’d watch this on my TV before I went to sleep. This movie is definitely underrated… but this was deeply rooted in my childhood.
As a black millennial myself, I was OBSESSED with this movie growing up. It's funny though because I never much thought about why. But I found myself nodding my head in agreement as you were explaining it here. The movie appealed to my demographic without me even realizing it. This is why diversity and inclusion are so important.

Well yes and NO. A Goofy movie was diverse AND it was WELL WRITTEN. MODERN Disney and it's seconds are "kicking and screaming" at their customer base to be predictable and easy to entertain with cut-price story telling...with a "side" of "diversity". Context, friend. Here you go! >;)

They didn't go out of their way to "code" any characters as any particular race, they just told a good story that touches on different real life struggles, and anyone can learn from that. Modern "diversity and inclusion" mandates are skin deep and completely miss the point.

This movie always holds a special place for me. I loved it when I was young as a son who couldn't see I2I (sorry had to) with his dad to now a father of 2 soon to be teenagers just trying to "be a part of it" in their lives. Every time I watch this movie the flood of emotions hits me like a tower of cheddar to the face.
Sometimes, when you have to work with a small budget, it many ways it is better because more effort, heart and work goes into a project and that is exactly why the film was gold.
When I was a little kid, I begged my grandma to take me to see a Goofy Movie, and she did. And it's an amazing memory, trying to explain to everyone how cool I2I was, and having trouble finding a way to hear it again. Then again as an adult, I got to see it in theaters at the El Capitan in Hollywood a few years ago. I don't think most people have seen this in theaters, but i've seen it twice.
This movie was a huge part of my childhood growing up. Unlike many programs marketed towards the pre-teen to teenaged audience, this movie felt like it got it exactly right for the mid-1990s while being broad enough so that any person from any time period could relate to it. Also, Goofy's yearning to bond with Max, who he saw was distancing himself away from him and from being a "Goof", being the backbone and propelling point of the film is what has given this movie its enduring quality. It really hits you at the core. Also, did anybody else think "Roxanne" looked like early-to-mid 1990s "Mariah Carey"?

This is one of those true childhood gems for me, because we didn't have this on VHS, our grandparents did (left by our older cousin). So I could only watch it at my grandparents' and it was obscure enough for those certain years, that I never saw it in a store for us to buy it home. And because of that, it's one of the rare Disney movies I've never seen in English. And I am slightly afraid to see it, because I know they redubbed the movie for DVD due to some questionable dubbing choices (when Max tells Lester to beat it, after Lester hugs him, the original dub said something like "quit perving on me!"). The Finnish dubs have always been really good, so I guess it would still be really good, but when it's a movie you've seen so many times, the changes in words, cadence, rythym, anything, can really feel off.

I watched Goofy Movie 2 many times. I do not know how it is possible, but I vividly remember this film as a kid.
My poor mother.. she rented this movie for my brother and me when we were little kids, and we ended up crying and angry at how sad the scene where Goofy and Max have a argument was :( :( Don't think I've ever watched it again, lol.

As a black kid in the 90s this movie was life. It was so black. It was blacker than Lion King and that took place in Africa lol and the Eye to Eye song lol we used to get so hype to that. It's funny a few years ago me and some friends were talking about this movie and since then it's just kept popping up and rising in popularity. I'm happy about that. I'm going to have to look for a digital download to watch with my kids. It's hard to share stuff with them... they have cell phones lol
Goofy was always my favorite character, but even moreso following this movie. He was just the kind of father I thought he would be. The film worked because of its problems, not in spite of them. Just like life.
Every single time i watch this movie i cry at the "dad, dad! Do the perfect cast!" The switch up of Max having faith and being proud of his dad in that moment when he needed help. Gets me every time
You’re not lying about the success of this film in the black community. We used to rent this from blockbuster multiple times. At the time we didn’t know why we liked it so much, but looking back it had hella swag. From the way max dressed, the way he danced, the way PJ’s dads was and POWERLINE sealed it!

Goofy Movie is my favourite Disney movie.
My sister and I didn't have very much growing up , we were quite poor but my mum did her best to give us things she never had.
So when she had spare money she would buy us Disney movies on VHS 📼.
We ended up having nearly all of the Disney movies which adored but Goofy Movie was by far our favourite.
This movie brought us so much joy in our childhood.
I think because we saw a slice of ourselves in it.
Goofy movie felt like a piece of black culture which is non-existent in Disney.
As kids, we watched it so much that we memorized the words and would recite snippets of the movie to each other and be in barrels of laughter
My sister and I are in our 30s now and we we still recite parts of the movie and just laugh.

The fact Katzenberg requested the project and even laid out the basic plot, and then just proceeded to not give a shit, sums up corpo execs so perfectly...
I loved this movie the moment i saw it, the first week it hit video. The comedic timing is impeccable, the dramatic silences and pauses are impactful but subtle. The animation is fluid but direct. And the songs are amazing.
It is one of the first times I realized that I loved my father but was ashamed of social stigma to express affection. It helped me grow as a person, a lot.
I'm very happy to see that it has built a legacy and hope further generations are shown the joy and depth it has to offer.
As other movie critics have pointed out - this film is everything "Turning Red" tried and failed to be

This was probably by far one of my favorite Disney movies that actually stuck with me as I grew out of more kid friendly films. Just sucks all my friends today never heard of this

I adore this movie! I was exactly Max’s age when it came out, so I really related to him. Imo, its two pop songs, “I 2 I” and “Stand Out”, are arguably the best Disney movie songs ever made. I still listen to them and sing along occasionally.
I watched this movie as a kid and I can't shake the feeling like, even though I was watching a cartoon film on disney channel it feels like I was sitting down to an HBO movie I can't quite get yet. Years later, looking back at this film and I totally understand where those feelings came from. This was a film with mature themes that would resonate more for modern living adults and teens than anything currently airing on disney at that time.

It's incredible that you've put out this video, because just last week we watched both the 1st and 2nd goofy movie. We needed a nice lighthearted film, and it was exactly what we called for. I love this movie so much. I first watched it in daycare when I was like 6 because we would watch all the classics like Land Before Time and the Chipmunks Adventure. I’ve been obsessed with it ever since. I’m not the target demographic at all because I’m a 19 year old white women. I was in no way near to being born when this movie came out but I still love the story and heart that it has and I’m so glad it’s on Disney+ so I can watch it anytime I want. I’m also a musical nerd so the songs are super fun and catchy. If I want to get pumped up then I turn on Stand out and Eye To Eye every time.
You have Thomas Washington to thank for this film. Without him leading the way for artists to draw him dancing, we wouldn’t have this film.

I’m a 2000’s kid who discovered a goofy movie randomly in my DVD collection and I LOVE THIS MOVIE. I literally have watched it over 60 times, usually a couple times a day as a kid. I loved the music, it’s perfect for young kids who just wants to watch older kids in age appropriate content.
You should do a video on _The Lion King_ , and how Disney had little to no faith in it when it was in production.

My dad bought me this movie on vhs one night when me and him had a “daddy- daughter night” he has since forgotten about this movie and event in life but I will FOREVER think of my dad when I see this movie. Especially because our relationship was strained for years. I plan on having “nobody else but you” being my wedding dance with him (no matter how “goofy” it may seem)
My younger brother’s favorite movie for about 6 months when it came out on VHS. He was 4, I was 12/13. He watched it nearly everyday. I would catch myself watching parts of too almost every time. I never got sick of it either. To this day, we quote parts of it. One of the greatest movies over.

I remember my cousins and I watching this at the $1 movie theater and beg my aunt to take us again, and she did! Sigh.. 90’s
I learned to make the Sasquatch voice later on in life just because I loved this movie so much as a kid. My little brother had a habit of watching movies over and over to the point everyone hated them, and he would throw a tantrum until he got his way. This movie, Mortal Kombat and MK2, and the original TMNT trilogy, were the only ones where really the only ones where I was perfectly fine with it. It wasn't until we both discovered Monty Python, Mel Brooks, and The Goonies at the tail end of my elementary school years that we had other shared interests to bond over like that, cinematically.

The movie was made for kids like me at the time it had everything. A cool friend that loves cheese whips, a cute girl to impress. A lack of understanding between young and old, the movie had a good story and makes kids want to aspire to make everything work out in the end. If you don’t know who it was made for than maybe you’re too young to see it when it was first released.
I like cgi animation of today but my heart will always love the traditional hand drawn animation of yesterday. God bless the nine old men forever after!

I loved this movie. I could've related with Max and still understand where Goofy was coming from. I remember yelling at my tv saying, "You guys have to talk this out" and when they did it felt wonderful. The soundtrack is perfect. I still play Eye To Eye to this day. I'm grateful to all those involved in making this movie because at the time I was Max to my Mom but after watching I started to include and appreciate her more. Thanks

A Goofy Movie feels relevant because when you watched it as a kid, you sided with Max, now as an adult with kids of my own, I get Goofy and understand him. It makes for a great rewatch and longevity of the movie.

I really wish they would make more original films starring their classic flagship characters, instead of relegating them to Playhouse Disney shows while cranking out live action remakes of retellings of old timey folklore.
My main complaint with this movie was that it aged every one up but ONLY focused on the male characters of the "Goof Troop" TV series not the female ones. it was for people who saw the series but also made for fans of Goofy and didn't fit the canon of either not to my satisfaction Post Disney Afternoon people are enjoying what's basically an episode of the series with out knowing the missing characters. And it never connected back to Duck Tales or Darkwing or Chip and Dale. It would have been so fun to have included aged up Duck Tales and Chipmunk characters.
Never understood why they didn't include Pistol and Peg from the show. I can only conclude they just really wanted to focus on Max and Goofy's relationship....or Peg divorced Pete at some point 🤷🏾♂️
Honestly, giving Goofy a character drama warmed Bill Farmer up for Kingdom Hearts. This miracle had a butterfly effect, for certain.
