  • Hey everyone. Today, my "Building the World" series continues with the Sydney Harbour Bridge in Australia. If you have any requests or suggestions for future episodes, I would love to hear them.
    Materials List:
    1283 Cobblestone
    700 Iron Bars (264 Iron Ingots)
    262 Chains (321 Iron Ingots)
    252 Cut Sandstone
    232 Smooth Sandstone
    52 Smooth Sandstone Stairs
    38 Cobblestone Walls
    36 Lanterns
    32 Chiselled Sandstone
    12 Smooth Sandstone Slabs
    12 Light Blocks (Sea Lanterns, Jack o'Lanterns, etc)
    If you are having trouble collecting enough iron for the Chains, you could use Iron Bars instead, as they are considerably cheaper to make.

    Im probably the only one who has made this but i accidentally made the whole length of it 108 blocks and it is abit off in the middle so i had to put 2 stems in the middle. I also made it out of iron blocks and made the width 9 blocks to match the rest of my roads.

      Well I’m glad this was useful to you. Iron Blocks are certainly the most logical choice, but a bit too expensive for survival players without a farm. Anyway, enjoy your new bridge! :)

    Could you build the Tyne Bridge from England.

    • @McPlayer8t
      @McPlayer8t  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I appreciate the suggestion, but the short answer is unfortunately no, I wasn’t planning to build the same type of bridge twice, because if you wanted to build the Tyne Bridge or any other through arch bridge, you could take the principals of this one and just change the colours and dimensions to suit your needs. For the Tyne Bridge, all you would need to do is take away the flags, and bend the arches down on a steeper angle so they meet the base of the tower, rather than the cut-off design the Sydney Harbour Bridge uses. If you can do all that, you’re 95% finished, you would need to redesign the towers as they do look a bit different, so it may take a bit of messing around in creative mode, but I think this tutorial should serve as a good enough template to work from. I realise it’s probably not the reply you wanted, but as I said, I think it’s more worthwhile for me to work on more diverse things, I hope that is helpful enough. :)
      If you have any other suggestions or still want to see me build the Tyne Bridge, let me know and I’ll certainly look into it.

      I'll use this tutorial as a bench mark for the Tyne Bridge so thanks for the reply.

      I appreciate the suggestion, but I think that might be a bit out of my league for now at least. I don’t have much experience designing buildings with complex shapes like the Opera House. I am trying to learn more, but it takes time and practice.

    i counted that the bridge is 109 blocks but the suspension chains dont connect properly i followed the tutorial but it didnt connect i checked everything its how you say to build it in the video

    • @McPlayer8t
      @McPlayer8t  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hmm… not sure why that could be. I will double check what I said, but I’m usually pretty careful with these things. Is it out by just one block? Or is it completely off?

      when i do the cobblestone walls on one side its under a block@@McPlayer8t

    • @McPlayer8t
      @McPlayer8t  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      To me, it sounds like your bridge is either a block too short, or a couple of blocks too long. You should have 19 walls and 18 lanterns on each side. Also, the 109 blocks includes the end sections between the towers, in case you didn’t include those. Other than that, I really don’t know what else it could be.

      @McPlayer8t  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well, I am at a loss for ideas, I double checked the one I built to make sure 109 is correct, all I can suggest is perhaps checking the arches again. Do the arches line up as they should? If you check the top row of cobblestone of each arch, it should be 9 blocks long on the top arch and 13 on the bottom one.
      If it’s not the arches or the length of the bridge, I’m almost out of ideas. The only other thing I can think of is if you measured the length by looking at the coordinates, it is easy to get confused. You need to include the block you started on. For example, if one end of your bridge is at x=100, the other should be at x=208, not 209, though I suspect this is not the issue from the description you gave, but it’s all I can think of.

    L am doing the bridge right now but it long

    • @McPlayer8t
      @McPlayer8t  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Long as in the span? Or how much time it takes to build it? I guess one comes with the other. My dad actually designed this bridge back in the PS3 days to cross an ocean to a mushroom island, which is why it’s so long. The location I showed at the start of the video is the only part of the river in our current world that is wide enough to accomodate the long bridge. Anyway, I made a number of changes to my dad’s original design to bring it closer to the real thing, for example, chains didn’t exist when it was first built, and the towers were completely redesigned as well.
      Anyway, I hope you like the bridge, and if you have any feedback or any other structures you’d like to see, I’m always open to suggestions.

    • @McPlayer8t
      @McPlayer8t  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, you may want to check that you built the rest of the arch correctly. Either that or the bridge deck itself is too long. But, if the bottom arch seems right, I would assume the former is the issue.
