Dok nailed it; 40 seconds in when he said Bendis lost it around 2012 A vs X. I was really fan of Bendis' work in the early to mid 2000s, loved his Daredevil and Alias, New Avengers was solid, and Ultimate Spider-man was honestly one of my favorite books for a while. Then around that time things just fell apart... never was a fan of Jason Aaron, tried to get into his stuff but every series he took on I never liked.
As a big fan of his first avengers run, I absolutly agree. The 2000s stuff is fantastic and I persoanlly think is one of the best avengers runs to date, but then the 2010s started and everything started to shake. His writting got weaker, and while he was able to write some enjoyable stories, it was clear is just wasn´t the same. Then, AvX happened and the only possible explanation of how bad that turned was that everyone got a massive seizure (lets not forget that Bendis wasn´t the only writter on that, Aaron or Hickman for example were also writting it). Since then, with some exception here and there, Bendis has been a disaster in almost everything he tried. On the other hand, Aaron just wrote one fantastic book:Thor: God of Thunder. Since then, I don´t remenber something good from him.
Your statements give me some hope though because I have been considering getting the morales Spider-Man omnibus’ (I am a DC reader) but massively put off from the purchase by Bendis writing it.

Bendis' Dark Avengers run was entirely based off Warren Ellis' Thunderbolts, that was published mere months before. Same artist (Deodato). And it was much, much better, too.
Did y’all READ this Avengers? The panel you show is Thor saying he’ll NEVER,side with Echo/Phoenix.Even after he “accepts”(?) the power of Phoenix,he’s still telling the current one they aren’t friends.
As I learn from this channel, *"you must have and follow rules".* Naomi basically is so overpowered there is no rules for her. I'm Glad the Bendis' Justice League is over. The positive effect is Black Adam is now in hands of a better writer, All of Ram V's Justice League Dark comics that was forced to be with Bendis' are gonna be their own separate trade. The negative effect Bendis' Legion of Superheroes cartoon on HBO max is still happening... Robbie Reyes and Death Lock is still on Avengers Forever? What they're doing? By the time i started getting interested in comics all i heard about Bendis was his cliches. And that people were dreading his arrival at DC. I have read the Ultimate Marvel series recently. And Ultimate Spider-Man was actually pretty fun for a while, i just hated how it took 4 issues to tell his origin (1 issue was enought). Even his first story with Miles was surprisingly good, despite how bland he would become later. But as i time goes on Bendis kind of becomes a parody of himself from what i have read from him after 2017. Also i can see why people would dislike how he likes changing characters with not much regards of what came before or how he could ruin them for others in the future.
I was never a huge Bendis fan but his earlier stories were tolerable. I didn’t like Aaron in anything I read. So all things being equal Aaron is slightly worse in my book. But they both are bad.
5:36 Naomi has some serious lazy-eye going on in the center panel there. This whole comic reeks of rush-job, but that doesn't excuse the awful Mary-Sue qualities of Bendis' fanfiction-OC-tier new characters. His New Avengers was the beginning of the end. I have to call BS on people who thought his Avengers was good. Even on its own merits, it wasn't good, but it definitely was out of character, in terms of both powers/abilities AND personality/characterization
@Ryan Wilson the first example of excessive horrible Bendisisms to me is House of M 2005 but in general his weaknesses and worst tendencies didn't fully start to take over his writing until the early 2010s.

And enjoyed the very early bits of his X-Men run... but the younger versions of the original X-Men overstayed their welcome (and with all the time travel equipment in the Marvel Universe, there was no really good reason not to send them back) and the writing got really lackluster. I would say is Bendis. Aaron may not be perfect, but his Avengers had some good ideas and moments (the whole civil vampire war should be the plot in a MCU Blade movie or Midnights Son). Bendis justice league was just boring and forgettable (except for Batman helping Naomi deal with anxiety by thinking on Ducktales song... that was just funny).

My first Bendis written material was his Avengers Disassembled story. There was only one good thing about that whole series for me, and that was David Finch’s art. That story, and everything else I’ve read since, has been boring, dull and sleep inducing. If Bendis is writing a comic book I don’t buy it. I’ve heard he’s written some good stories in the past, but nothing I’m aware of or have ever read. I ... endured.... his work on Superman and crew. Glad he's gone. At least there is, for now, Action Comics. As for Jason Aaron, I have no opinion other than I tried to read his Avengers run ( from the first issue through about 10 or so ), but with each issue they got more and more… boring, dull and sleep inducing. He, for my money and time, just doesn’t seem to know The Avengers, as a team or as individual characters.
Yea I couldn’t read Bendis JL, it was horrendous, I continued to buy the comic for months just for the JLD backup story. But when I dropped all my comics I wasn’t sad to let it go like I was with other comics.
Bendis is worse. Jason is just as bad but his earlier stuff was pretty good. Bendis just keeps destroying every character he touches. Everyone keeps saying his early work was better but frankly after looking at his recent work, I now believe that the man is a one hit wonder. He keeps getting worse and worse yet people keep giving him work.
They should have left him do his thing in the Ultimate universe, but letting him do whatever in 616 was just dumb. Just Avengers Dissasembled left a negative impact on many characters that hasnt washed off.
Jason Aaron is pretty bad but Bendis is very worse. This dude is a cancer for industry in the past two decades, your awful excess of dialogues, the decompress style, the bad characterization and your disrespect with the former chronology,Bendis is worse in every sense. The most overrated writer ever I see.I never like anything this dude wrote in Marvel.
All this talk about one member of JL going to survive in death of the Death of Justice league I just realized.....its going to be fucking Naomi isn't it?
Comics should stay as a strong story telling medium. Not the writer's and editor's backyards for childish prank's and political dictate's. Most of the writers start's good, and along the way some of them loses perspective. If I were to read those s**t fest of comics! I would have needed a shower and head examination. And Naomi,(fake) I never read her comic, never will and I don't even wanna know. coz Bendis just made her to s**t on all the other Legends, and show how bestest evaa she is. And same with those Green Lantern wannabees! Now all of a sudden Nightwing has a bestest evaa sister. come on! The more I see deconstruction of comic medium, the more I wanna stay away from the big two (DC & Marvel)! Thanks Wes & Dok!!🙏
Both guys ran out of steam years ago. Bendis Ultimate Spidey was a good book back in the day, and Aaron's early Wolverine and Thor were solid when he first started at Marvel. But both guys have been lazy hacks for a long time now, and sadly, there's no editors with balls at Marvel nor DC; so no one ever checks these guys and tells them that their story ideas are lame, or that they need to put effort into their work again.
Aaron was better. Wolverine, his Vertigo stuff was great. I never was a big fan of Bendis. Too wordy, plot that doesn't made sense, bad characterization.... His Ultimate Spiderman run was OK, I never knew why people compared it with Stan Lee/Kirby run in FF.....except for lenght. Power was meh for me. Probably my favorite was MK Daredevil. But just that.
amazing that bendis and aaron are still lead writers for the big 2, i wonder if it is a legacy thing ? there is simply no way that the editorial heads are looking at customer feedback... the sales are at an all time low (and dipping despite twitter echo chambers). i will say this though, at least bendis created a new character (even if she is a mary sue) instead of continuing his destruction of legacy characters, unlike aaron that is making some select legacy characters into mary sues and others into a disney knock off of gaston
Bendis was excellent in his own niche, namely Alias/Jessica Jones, which was about super-hero de-construction, kind of like tales behind the super curtains. But, like Phil Collins in the late 80s, he became too big and omnipresent, being used even in Marvel's most four-colour titles such as the Avengers, where Bendis' verbose decontruction amounted to cultural vandalism. I don't know about the other guy.
It’s sad because Bendis once upon a time was one of the best comic book writers bar none with ultimate Spider-Man and a whole lot of marvel miniseries. I used to be a huge fan of him, and then he drank the Kool-Aid.
Probably Bendis at this point. Haven't liked anything he's done since Powers (which turned into a pretty good TV series. If you're a fan of The Boys and Invincible, go back and watch it if you can find it bootlegged anywhere; I snagged both seasons a while back). But this week I bought the last copy of Jason Aaron's "problematic" King Conan #3 at Phantom Oakland (not sure if Dok ever shops there?) and it was entertaining. I don't think the Hyborian Age ever had an analogue of the Aztecs yet, so that was a smart idea, opening up a new world of macuahuitl-and-sorcery beyond the Western Ocean. And Aaron hasn't turned Conan into a soyboy...yet. So I'll pick Bendis as worse, since he's responsible for both Riri and Naomi, self-inserts for his two adopted daughters.
I think it's all a matter of playing to your strengths and recognizing your weaknesses, or just realizing what you are STILL good at. With Bendis he did put out both Pearl and Cover while at DC and I thought both of them were great. Naomi was praised when it first came out as well. So Bendis should maybe return to crime fiction and stuff like Powers (I would love to have more Powers). Jason Aaron...so I liked his quirky, comedic Wolverine & The X-men, but felt that his run on Ghost Rider was overrated. Based on strength of W&Xmen I thought that Avengers would be great...yeah I ended up dropping that book. It was incredibly boring. His run on Conan was not bad though. So maybe he should stick to solo books.
Laffing my a$$ off as I beg indies and manga to take my hard-earned money. Though still buying lake house and strange academy. Also will try to fight for the nightmare country #1 1:100 frison variant! Damn you Salazar! Be safe. Mabuhay!
Why is Flash wearing a Lab Coat over his costume? To tell us that he is doing science stuff? I stopped liking Bendis after he killed the White Tiger in one of the most racist way.
Tie both are bad, I think Bendis lost it when he *made Iceman gay* which is still ruining his character and should be retconned like One More Day. Seriously it's like he started a horrible trend. They make it like Iceman is pretending to be gay, to try to make people forget that he was straight. Also remember what Jason did to She-Hulk and I have heard that his X-Men and Avengers runs are terrible. Edit: both writers have done and continue to do things that are bad, there's way too many that I feel like naming or some that I forgot and or don't know about to name.
Bendis hasn't been good since DD. His Avengers run, albeit most of the time is talking heads, is a masterpiece compared to Generic Aaron's run. However, Bendis' xmen was pure garbage
4:06 It is understood that Dot, Dough? are unable to speak like a semi-educated adult, with all the fuck, fuck, fuck, but at least talk about what happens in the comic. Naomi was not alone against Xanadoth, it was Black Adam who went completely full on dragon ball against the bitch. Naomi was nothing more than a catalyst for the spell that Nobu, Xanadu, Zatanna and Dr. Fate were doing. Criticize the comic with what really happens, please...there are ways to criticize the thing (what u said about the art is real) without having to erase the role that most of the JL Dark had in the final segment of the fight.

@@TMF979Resurge I will say that's the best thing i've read of his, but every other writer on the title was better
Bendis.
Must see YT, right here - Like, subscribe and hit the bell. By the way, who's in the East Region bracket - Vita v. Tom King?
Naomi Season 2 and Legion v. Justice League wrap the same month. The end may be near! 🙏
All this talk about one member of JL going to survive in death of the Death of Justice league I just realized.....its going to be fucking Naomi isn't it?
Bendis stopped being readable the moment he created Miles Morales
I will Never, Ever, Ever forgive or support Bendis after Superman.
Doc was spot on here, nuff said
Aaron's Thor God Butcher run was great but everything else is just awful
Try doing a video comparing Jason Aaron to Donny Cates
Both guys ran out of steam years ago. Bendis Ultimate Spidey was a good book back in the day, and Aaron's early Wolverine and Thor were solid when he first started at Marvel. But both guys have been lazy hacks for a long time now, and sadly, there's no editors with balls at Marvel nor DC; so no one ever checks these guys and tells them that their story ideas are lame, or that they need to put effort into their work again.
Is the black adam jl cover an homage to the jla avenger crossover or just a bland copy
Supongo que Geoff John no puede escribir todos los comics, aunque lo intenta 💥
Kepp the cool work caballero 🧐
I think avengers 54 was ok I know it's not a great run but I still enjoy it
amazing that bendis and aaron are still lead writers for the big 2, i wonder if it is a legacy thing ? there is simply no way that the editorial heads are looking at customer feedback... the sales are at an all time low (and dipping despite twitter echo chambers). i will say this though, at least bendis created a new character (even if she is a mary sue) instead of continuing his destruction of legacy characters, unlike aaron that is making some select legacy characters into mary sues and others into a disney knock off of gaston
"Who's Worse at Comics Bendis or Aaron?"
Yes.
BOTH OF THEM.
Either series in top 50 ? Bendis was on book less than 2 years ?
I was exited when I heard he was coming to DC. Everything he’s done has been horrible. I honestly can’t believe DC is so bad right now.
Thank you for reading terrible comics so I won't have to.
It’s a tie.

The covers for marvel and dc look cool but the content sucks and breaks the characters
Thors literally fighting a god of hammers
Bendis si è svuotato... O forse è sempre stato solo molte chiacchiere vuote 😊
Either way can agree both not good lol
I bought JL and immediately bagged it and threw in the long box. I have no interest in the story he’s trying to tell. Just completing the run
Bendis' writes characters to pander to the woke people in charge of Marvel and DC.
Bendis is worse
Both made me quite those titles
Both are terrible writers, but Bendis is by far the worst of the two.
I have Aaron's first story that he won in a contest. Never liked him. Bends is a joke but Aaron is absolute garbage.
Greatest Superhero Naomi? Debuted Less than 3 years ago and almost 95% people who don't know who she is 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Those comics suck period
Both are terrible I will stay with Aaron who decided to make Thor's book about another character.
Edit: both writers have done and continue to do things that are bad, there's way too many that I feel like naming or some that I forgot and or don't know about to name.
they want to do a huge event in a book nobody cares about written by someone they overpaid that nobody likes. lmao peak comic books
Bendis is terrible. I mean he created one of the worst characters in decades, Naomi. Shit character. So is Ri Ri.
Is Dok really Alex Jones? He sounds like Alex Jones. Anyway, these guys are hilarious. They come across as kind of dumb but they are entertaining.
Bendis hasn't been good since DD. His Avengers run, albeit most of the time is talking heads, is a masterpiece compared to Generic Aaron's run. However, Bendis' xmen was pure garbage
Bendis is far better than Aaron. Bendis was an amazing writer for a decade. Aaron's only written a couple of interesting things...
Not a fan of either of these writers. I pass on most everything they write.
Aaron is better.
