- From Humming Birds to Kingfishers, I'm becoming a little obsessed with turning these wonderful birds. Watch as I show you how to make your very own Kingfisher diving into water.
As always ask any questions about the project in the comments below and I'll get back to you.

Another great informative content 👍.Colwin are you stocking blanks at your shop ?or is is it just finished pieces?
Just finished pieces
Very nice piece but I would love to see it with a more complex base. My idea would be to have the base be a larger, key dish-type thing where the bird is hitting the water in say the top left corner of a non-circular ‘pond’. I don’t know how would achieve that on a lathe but I’d really like to see you try it 🙏
Why not, most of my demos start with me not really knowing where I’m going 😬
I've been turning for 8 years and carving birds for 20 years. Here is my King Fisher.
Excellent turning Colwin. Bird and base are both wonderful. Tremendous piece.
Hi Colwin and team, another great instructional video thank you
Good morning from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor Michigan
HI Colwin, Tom and everyone
Really great fun project. Looks great
Another wonderful project and teaching video, Colwin. The dust collector makes a loud and persistent noise that is annoying. I appreciate the need for dust control. Perhaps a different microphone would help with this noise. while still keeping your commentary so clear.. Thanks
Thanks for the feedback, I changed the levels as people were asking to hear more of the tool sounds but I’ll try and get it in the middle
Looks great!
Great video Colwin
