I got fired one day, got dumped the following day, got kicked out of my apartment, and had to live in my car, which I felt like hitting the rock bottom, but I had never had a moment of giving it up because there's always tomorrow, and the sun will shine again.

I believe most Asian men should experience living in Asia. Living in the western society is honestly not great for our mental health. In the west, they will make sure to make you believe that you are unattractive, not deserving of respect, inferior and stay submissive. Even if you have a successful career, finding genuine connections and dates will be hard.
Everyone desire companions, love and sense of belonging. But in the west, getting those needs met can be tough even if you were born there.
It’s great you are proactively learning about yourself and figuring it out. Most don’t even have the courage to do that. You don’t have to be the western version of “cool” to be happy and whole. Don’t let their ideology or indoctrination make you feel less about yourself. Most of the western society are already sick anyway.
If you want to make a lot of money, sure being in North America can be easier for that. But if you want to be happy and at peace, I’d argue Asia might be better.

Hello bro. I’m a Vietnamese person, maybe some years younger than you or maybe we’re around the same age, and I have been watching your videos roughly 5 months ago too. I found your journey to be very interesting and authentic, and I liked that so I kept watching your videos. I don’t know much about this content creator thing, but as your audience, I think authentic content which comes from your true interest and curiosity is more valuable than a scripted one. I’m very interested in your journey coming back here to re-discover your roots, to re-connect with the motherland. As you described it, you heard Vietnam calling you back, I think it’s very poetic. One cannot ignore the calling of his motherland. I suggest besides learning your mother tongue, you should also dig deep into the history of Vietnam, the history of your own family, why they left, why they made the choices that they made… and be prepared for some major shocking revelations… it might be political ugly, it might be painful, it might be controversial, contradicting to what you’ve known before… but to re-connect with this country, it’s always good to learn about its history. There are a lot of museums you can visit, war museums, art museums, make a few vids on your museums trips and tell us your take on that. Once you’re able to feel the history, the art, the culture running in your veins, your connections would get stronger and you’d understand Vietnam more. Also travel across and throughout Vietnam too. Go to poor villages, go to high mountains, don’t only stay in comfy cities. That’d also help to shape your perceptions around things a lot. And about the rat race in Canada and Vietnam, I think it’s the same anywhere on earth, just same fishes in different tanks :)). But I hope your time in Vietnam will give you the healing you need. As for me, a young Vietnamese person, having international passport sounds nice, being able to work abroad in different countries are nice, but my home base will always be in Saigon, Vietnam. No matter where I go, I would always want to come back home. Best of luck to you bro. 👍

You know life ain't easy, but Canadians like you are good people. Canada is going through a rough patch for sure, but it's a great time to explore the world and see what else is out there.
Whether you decide to stay in VN, go somewhere else, or even choose to come back to Canada one day (don't forget it's a huge country, a lot bigger than just BC!) the world will be a better place for it.
At the end of the day good things only come from good people :)
I also don't live in Canada anymore but this quote often makes me think about home:
"We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time."

It seems like you need counseling. It seems like you still don’t know who you are and seemed deeply disturbed or traumatized/hurt from your experiences. I still see a-lot of low self confidence and comparisons when you interview other viet kiểus successful stories. Should concentrate on doing videos that uplift your spirit. There is still a tone of loneliness and sadness in your videos. You can do this! Don’t let your past failed experiences forge your future.

I'm from Hong Kong and grinding at the US Reno Nevada. People are broke world wide and what used to have a lot of magical connections are no longer here to connect us with the different culture. Everyone is busy grinding in many ways there are no more free time and your free time going out is just more and more expensive to a point that you are spending 100 dollars easy just to go out on your "free time". People stick with their Race now is easier to communicate with the same culture with out exploring out of their comfort zone while they can continue the grind. It even make more sense to just go back to your own country with the money and knowledge we already earn with such of low cost of living. You can counts how many State that have more than 10% of Asian in the US and non of them are cheap on cost of living. Why would you stay here if you have the option? only if you don't have the option. I'm fortunate or unfortunate enough to be at end of my grind. I'm tatted with a Koi sleeve on my left arm to protect myself and to remind myself of who I am when I was age 25. I will be doing my right arm at age 50 when I return home for retirement to remind myself what my mom and myself have sacrificed and accomplished here at the United State. Hang in their everything will turn out alright.

Great video! I think if people keep getting a particular pull and it doesn't stop, then they should at least entertain the idea of looking into whether or not pursuing that pull would be worth it. I have heard countless times where people move to other countries and they feel like strangers and sometimes never really feel like they fit in. I wouldn't blame you for going back to explore where your family is from to find yourself and see if it's a better fit for you. I would love to be able to move to a different country for a better life, but I know that, as much as the cost of living and overall lifestyle might improve, deep down I believe that I'm Canadian through and through and the best place would be the most suitable location within my own country for the simple reason that I'd be surrounded by those that have lived their lives in the same environment (Canada).
Good luck during the process! I hope you figure out what you need to do and for all of those watching this video, you should all take action if you experience enough days in a row where you wake up and you know something isn't right.

I always always feel like that, Chinese-Vietnamese growing up in Canada at 9, and never fit in with any group, until the host of the Vietnamese music show Ky Duyen said she belonged to the "1.5 generation" as she came to USA at the age of 10-11, and her co-host said "yep, 1.5 generation not yet westernized but no longer Vietnamese"..........
I couldn't get anyone to understand me wanting to move to Vietnam, my whole life I wanted to explore what's mine but for a long time unable to reach, just like when I'm in school, all the kids talked about their countries, backgrounds and cultures, I started to question, what's mine? I needed to dig in to mine....
Yet, talking to Vietnamese about moving back, to them is looking for girls, massages, drinking, investment, giving up your future, support commie.....in my head all I could say is F-you......
I love the culture, I love the weather, I love the lifestyle, I love to be able to reach out to the unfortunate kids selling lottery tickets, beggars, I'm fascinated with the things that Vietnamese considered ordinary....like driving through towns and cities in Vietnam, I tried my best to stay awake just so I ccould see things outside the car, I didn't want to miss any image passing by.....I want to live a life where I can spit my time evenly between work, family, friends and even neighbours, here in Canada it's all about 8-10hrs of work and 2hrs commuting to work, and 8hrs of sleep, what's left in a day after shower and eating dinner?
I couldn't get anyone to understand or engaging in the conversation for longer than 10mins before I swear and curse at them because they wanted to persuaded me not to move back to Vietnam. But now I know it's the 1.5 generation Vietnamese that I can relate to, we have the same mentalities, same timeline, same experiences............For the time being I;m still stuck here in Canada because of my mom........good luck to those who has the freedom to live your dream.

Corporate job is actually not that bad if you are ok with going by the rules, and is relatively secure. At the same time, they cannot expect you to do manager level work, for example, in professional practice, because you are just not there yet. The thinking would be considering yourself as an assistant or support to your manager. No, your name cannot go on the projects because you are not authorized, but you also won't be held liable.
