One of the most popular air coolers at least out of the ones ordered through my amazon affiliate account was the Mugen 5. With that air cooler many of you also bought and RGB fan to go with it. Well Scythe must have noticed the same because now they sell there most popular air cooler in a RGB, and not just a little RGB, A LOT OF RGB. Just how i like it, lets have a look.
That rgb top plate looks thick enough for someone to put an infinity mirror on it and that will look amazing on an air cooler
I have a Mugen 5 Rev B. and i bought an extra kaze flex 120 not even a week ago. Using push-pull didn't drop temps, maybe 1 or 2 degrees on the cpu but what i discovered was that the case temp raised by 2 degrees and the exhaust fan speed lost like 200-300rpm at 100% when both cpu fans were at 100% and it would go back to normal when i manually turn them of.
So after much frustration and testing to figure out what the hell was going on and since i don't have a 3rd kaze flex 120 but plenty old and loud counterclockwise spinning fans what i ended up doing was using 1 flex fan for the Mugen and 1 flex fan for exhaust deleting the AF120 fan that i had as exhaust.
As a result i have better temps than using 1 flex for the Mugen and 1 AF as exhaust and the system is quieter.
The Flex fans spin clockwise while the majority of the fans out there including my exhaust corsair AF120 spin counterclockwise... so it screws up the airflow it also did it with a single fan but the margin was so little compared to the other AF's (50-100 rpm) that i have installed so i attributed it to fan to fan variance. Never noticed that it lost speed when i cranked the cpu fan until now.
Also what i found out when testing with the old loud counterclockwise fans was that using push-pull didn't really drop temps. for example using 2 1400rpm fans only dropped temps by 1 degree but using a single 2k rpm fan outdid the push-pull by 2 degrees. Again using push-pull 2krpm fans only dropped temps by 1 degree and it was outdone by a single 3k rpm 38mm fan by another 2 degrees.
I don't know why but it seems the Mugen doesn't really like push-pull setups it just likes revs. Granted i don't have a 3rd flex to test but i have little reason to believe it will be any different than with using the all counterclockwise fan setups that i tested.
Thanks a lot for all the info! I've got a mugen with one fan right now and have been thinking about adding a second fan for a while now and this was very informative
Hey, have you tried removing the top cover with RGB? Does it have the same finish on the heatpipes like mugen 5 rev b? I love the looking of this cooler but can only find the ARGB version where I live, so I'm planing on buying it and removing this top rgb cover (the RGB fans are ok).
I have this cooler and I rotated the top plastic argb cover for easier cable management.
Man Scythe is coming on strong. I love the Mugen 5 Rev. B.
I would like this RGB light on the wall as a decoration.
I'd really like to see them jump into the AIO game, Scythe is really becoming the go to CPU company after maybe Noctua. I just wish they would have put their Logo in the correct orientation for the standard setup of this design. Great video great product!
Carey Holtzman: breathes heavily
Change your date when installing Win10 ;)
Try removing the rear case fan, the fans that close together may be disrupting the airflow
I think that it is because he has a micro atx board, which has the socket a bit closer to the left
Just wanted to let you know I like the outro on this video; nice, simple, and interesting. Very good format and I hope to see it again.
Finally... no more 1080p blurry videos. Thank you for upgrading your camera.
i havent gotten a new camera yet ive just went back to 4k and am now trying to color correct, my color skills are still sketchy AF
Nice little air cooler :-). Talking about RGB i got myself a PowerA enhanced spectra Xbox one Lighted controller for my PC and it looks so cool when lit up...
Some say it's not about size, but girth is what matters.
You could have mount it back to front so you can get more space at the exhaust aide
Does anyone know if this fits inside of the NR200P?
Question / on my build, the fan on the left randomly won’t work at times, it will twitch, and I have to manually spin it to get it to go. Doesn’t really affect thermals in games / benchmarks because the other fan (right side closest to ram) is the main one that cools, but wondered if anyone has tips on what to do? Brand new to this
Scythe Mugen 5 ARGB Vs fuma 2 which one is better ?
if it was me i go with mugen 5 argb but if RGB isnt your thing fuma 2
fIRST VIDEO OF YOURS i'M WATCHING. YOU HAVE A NICE WAY OF PRESENTING THINGS. Ah darn caps... :P
its ok i just imagined you yelling a complement at me :-)
It don´t appears to be the best use you could make with your case right? might be a better idea to mount it in another orientation like sucking air from the back of the vga and exausting to the top? this way you could have a lot air flow and the vga can go down one or two slots if necessary and could use that rear fan in a effective way.
It weighs 1 kilogram. Is that safe for the Motherboard?
I don't understand the point of in-case controllers. Is everyone sitting with their side panel open?
what is the program to change colour?
I can't find this for sale anywhere. Sold out on Amazon for a while. Anyone know where to buy?
I just got one from cpufreezer or something like that? I’d recommend using PayPal just in case but they seem legit
Try this “megekko”
@@jarrettmaltry6305 did you get it?
Motherboard from Asus Strix version B550 chipset should be fine no? i asked also on support it should be
???
Will be good for my Ryzen 7 5800X?
Ok so I can still use this with an RGB board?! Thats what the controller is for?! Its possible to run with a ASUS B450- F Gaming?
Running this on a ryzen 3600 and idle at 32oc when the weather is 26oc outside. Sounds sad but I can't wait for the winter to see how cool this thing can get it. We get into the minus Oc here in Scotland in weather :D Will report back my temps then but I expect under 29Oc. As for gaming which is what most will want to hear. Im happy to report in games on high textures etc like call of duty warzone my processor does not throttle at the 70c boost AI because it never reachs it . That means my game holds 4.2ghz during gaming :D. If i run something heavy in the summer like a stress test on cpuz I will hit 74 Oc. Prime95 which is as drastic as it gets on small fft max temp was 75.5c. Now bare in mind its summer here and 26Oc outside so that temp on its absolute worst case scenario program run will only get cooler as temp outside drops. As for its looks its sooo nice I mounted it on the gigabyte x570 aorus elite. It left me a nice space between the fan and back case fan btw. Your motherboard is just a bit small I guess. I can fit 2 hands behind it there is a massive gap. I know you probably wanted a super clean look build so respect but It should not factor into a typical build I could fit another fan between that gap its so large.
How is temperature now? Same CPU, but on MoBo MSI B550 Gaming Edge, don't know how much space I will have, don't want to see this from video in my case...
Bro this is pretty cool but you haven’t RGB’d until you’ve seen the competition videos for Thermaltake’s new “Quad Ring” fans.
TIP : using your own charts when testing if way better than just saying the numbers, at least for me personally and I guess a lot of people would prefer that as well. I enjoy the content and all, but when it comes to benchmarks/testing, charts are better, not crazy hyped charts if that makes sense, but I would rather look at the numbers than actually listen to them!
Shame it doesn't come with a VDG adapter for Gigabyte motherboards.
I'm hoping this will push down the price of the non rgb version
H o w in the fuck do you buy this thing in the states. Jesus Christ I’ve been searching since March
It would have been x100 better to have big rgb scythes instead of that brick inside of a brick
Nah u crazy aesthetically that’s not rocking with the rear exhaust fan n the cpu fan up on each other ....come on u know!!!
*I FIX IT*
Its moo-gen
ARRRR GEEEE BEEEE! :D
is this an ad ? you sound like you are selling it .....
Cut the crap & get the Scythe Ninja 5 behemoth for real cooling performance for less money. If you want bling, just add these fans later.
OMG it's absolutely disgusting 😂

LIES😀
The website says 134 for its height, but you showed here 157.5, can this fit in the lian li pc011 dynamic which has 155mm cpu cooler clearance?
yea you can fit it...
