You forgot the various references on the book sleeves on the shelves in the first 2 episodes. The farm houses in E1M2 and E1M7 are good places to look!
Instead of just having "You're not supposed to be here, go away" over and over again, the devs could've switched it up with each one. So lazy, 0/1000, won't recommend, burn this game with deadly hellfire, may the devs toes always get stubbed by surfaces for the rest of their days.
