This movie gave me major "Signs" or "Dark Skies" vibes. Movies that actually make Greys scary. Plus the whole subplot with the main character being a pariah. The whole thing was very tense.
I think the scariest part is that it’s not actually the Greys. It’s another organism, an entirely different sapient species that is merely using the Greys and their bodies for transport. A species capable of interstellar travel and psionic abilities is being puppeted by a fleshy ball with tentacles.

Tell your friends in the Kia Sorento to come back.
The ending gives off The Host vibes by Stephenie Meyer. In the book they are called Souls, and they are peaceful parasitic aliens that invade worlds that are on the brink of destroying themselves. They discreetly stepped in and successfully occupied almost every human being on the planet. They do not change our world, but experience it and perfect it. They then breed a new generation of humans that won’t be occupied by the Souls. Their goal is to teach the new generation how to take better care of their planet and each other. It was such an interesting book and when I finished this movie, that’s the first thing it reminded me of. It seems like the squid aliens here have similar intentions maybe.

MAJOR vibes for the Host- that was an amazing book

Exactly the movie was great until the confusing abduction and ending ruined it
The isolation and ostracization sequence of our main character almost brings me to tears

It was warranted she f***ing killed her friend. What the hell is wrong with you...
She is kind of a menace though, she brutally slaughters like 4 aliens and beat you-know-who to death 💀 watching this movie with a friend was so much fun though, it always kept you guessing
This chick is literally a hillbilly version of Ripley!
@@dizo-jp2tdno thanks
Also snaped out of a mind illusion in minutes, and managed to expell a parasite lifeform of her throat. That girl was a totally badass, she could totally be an warhammer 40k protagonist.
Finally more alien related horror that doesn't involve a Xenomorph.
The Xeno is an amazing alien, but I see what you mean. My favorite alien that isn't anything Xeno is Jean Jacket from NOPE
Try being a fan of friendly alien "discovery" movies. Like Contact, for example.
We've got Contact, and some people will say Arrival; though personally I did *not* like that movie. And, that's about it really. As far as I know. Aside from BS like the MCU and, I'm certainly not counting that.
Instead, it’s the classic LGM’s.
If you could call this "horror".
These things seems far more dangerous. Individually they are laughably easy to kill but as a whole they seem significantly more effective at conquering.
I love how a number of the aliens got the “Home Alone” treatment. 😂
I love this channel, simply because if it wasn't for this channel, I wouldn't be able to experience any kind of horror movies, because my dumb brain scares easily. But watching these analysis videos allows me to experience them in a manageable way, so that my brain doesn't go into that nightmare state and make the movie hard to understand. Appreciate this channel so very much~💖
No one's perfect.
Glad you enjoy it.
Can you make an "Ice Age explained," just for laughs. I want that creepy music in the background as you explain how Sid is a secretly a psychopath. 😂💀
Damn good movie. They get all that deep, meaningful story across with almost no dialogue. What an achievement!!!

@@filmcomicsexplainedI'd like to think they might have felt a bit of pity for her state of mind and how she is treated
That's pretty cool that the alien parasite thing studies and then copies the way other species operate and just DOES THAT once it's taken them over.
I am pleased to see that it's a alien movie that isn't about Xenomorphs or some other similar aliens. This one actually looks a little intriguing.
It is until the ending and hardly any explanation as to what actually happened in the end which ended up ruining the whole movie
This is such a realistic movie. Especially the "bus" scene. I think all of us would turn on our inner track star like she did.
The ending gave me a Lovecraftian/ Twilight Zone and Signs, of course, mixed vibes, it's a shame that this movie didn't receive enough attention:(
Wow the explanation really shows how allagories can be quite difficult to understand, I saw the movie as being a bit of an homage to old 50s sci-fi (with the Grey's, the saucers, the mind control and the ending being what propaganda from the 50s wanted you to think it was like, etc) as well as something about communication and things not being what they seemed.
There were definitely themes of grief and getting over things but I didn't realize how well it could be read, tho I still find it a little confusing.
BUT with this reading the title makes a lot of sense "No one will save you" because you have to let go and move on yourself
Think this took inspiration from "The Invaders" episode from The Twilight Zone. Isolated woman fighting for her life, very little dialogue, twist ending including aliens. Either way this movie was an absolute treat.
Scariest grey aliens since Fire in the Sky.
Honestly Bryn is a badass. She managed to kill multiple of these very powerful aliens (and also remove the parasite from her throat) solely because of her sheer will to survive.
Even the Aliens themselves are fascinated by her.
She’s a child murderer..
This movie was phenomenal…. The lack of dialogue amazed me. The actress is so good without saying a word…
Intergalactic therapists practicing their questionable methods
Almost like that Anthology that had Art the Clown in it,where that woman suffered a home invasion by alien wearing scuba diving equipment.

Lmao wtf
I really enjoyed this film. Thanks for reviewing it. Great insight!
I liked them better as stickers on my elementary lunchbox. 👽😱
😂
@@filmcomicsexplained I recommend a review/analysis of the success of the original Red Dawn, and the flop of the remake.
To me it really felt like the whole movie was depicting Brynn’s psychotic break. There’s tons of little details in the movie that hint at the “aliens” actually being humans that she murders.

This is one of the few horror movies I enjoyed, as well as a sci-fi horror I found original and well done. It's from a new perspective, a new direction and no matter who wins, humanity loses. It's an awesome film worth a watch.
I think this was impressive on a small budget scale and the lack of
Dialogue.
It makes me wish fox still owned predator and would make a predator movie showing an elite predator going about their home planet and then on a major hunt to cleanse a hive (hunt gone wrong).

I love her house and her property - I'd gladly isolate myself there. Who needs townspeople.
Haha yea same here!
If it was like this for me, id sell the house and move away from that town. You literally can't go into it without being attacked
God loves you all
Considering the movie took place over the course of around a day and her attempts to leave town all failed, I don't think that was an option. The movie was pretty clear in that this wasn't an isolated phenomenon either, there were dozens of saucers and signs of the invasion everywhere.
I love this version of the greys.
Was looking forward to you dropping a video on this alien movie

I hadn’t seen this movie looks promising will go watch it then return here to see what I missed. Thanks FCE!
I have not watched this movie. But it really seems like she had a mental breakdown and everything is just her mind trying to cope with it. Like "I Kill Monsters". As soon as the aliens let her live, i was convinced. The tap on the forehead seemed like an indication of lobotomy. Her euphoric life afterwards is further evidence of lobotomy.
God loves you all
... Life after a lobotomy is anything but euphoric.
The alien parasite seems to operate like The Black Mercy plant from DC comics.
I liked it. I really wish they held off the big reveal of the creatures until
More towards the end. To build up that suspense
I hear you, but I also think by introducing the different variants, it sort of worked. But yeah as a general rule, the less you show the more our minds have to fill in the gaps

Now when I watched this movie my skin had goosebumps when watching it but when I looked at the title it reminded me of this quote from the Bhudda "no one will save you but ourselves" because even though we make mistakes and broke a lot of promises throughout our lives we have to understand that although you've made that mistake you can forgive yourself and mend that past mistake.
I’d love to see your run-down of Manyeo/The Witch. It’s a weirdly satisfying story about a Mary-Sue wreaking havoc in South Korea, from 2018. It has a sequel.
This movie is literally in my top 3 I love the design of the Grey and the different types of them
I would love it if you covered Exam (2009) by Stuart Hazeldine. Its a fantastic thriller with a twist that ive only had 1/10~ people get before the movie ended, and she got it like five minutes into the film.
SOunds interesting. Adding it to the list, thanks :)
This movie is sooo underrated have the de facto alien design and having them be antagonistic is something that needs to be explored more in cinema
What about Apocalypse Now, for the next or future video? Due to its cinematic design and its discussion regarding the brutal and dehumanizing aspects of war. Along with how hellish the production was during filming.
I just wanna say that your videos are some of my favorite of the lore summary genre. I have a good movie for you when you find yourself in a lull. Enemy Mine.
The only thing in the movie that scared me was that big fucking alien roar and the way it ran at her

I Just watched this movie today, and watched your recap right after. I really enjoyed the movie and your video.keep up the good work 👍🏻
Oh man i need to watch this movie. Tomorrow
The first time I saw the movie I watched the trailer and and decided to watch. I loved the fact there is almost no dialogue and the effects are excellent. Bryn also fantastic. I watched it again and thought less of it. The movie works on the level you described, however, makes it fall apart is this alien invasion fascination with Bryn. The filmmaker was obviously attempting to tell us something about her experience, but then I started thinking “does this alien invasion force do this with everyone who suffers from PTSD?” Were they trying to harm her at first and then changed their minds? So many questions…
Thanks for the video. I just watched the movie on HULU, but it looks too dark, some scenes almost pure black, compared with the previews you have here, which are very clear. Why is that?
I just watched this and it's best viewed in the dark with the lights out. Also hate to say it but it might also be your TV settings that need to be adjusted.
BOUT TIME!!
this movie was so captivating by the end. i believed the lead''s emotional journey and was kinda blown away by the end!
To be honest, I was only expecting this to be okay. But was pleasantly surprised at how good and genuinely creepy and scary this film is. 9/10 for me. Would highly recommend.
