Starring alongside actor and singer Zendaya, Hunter Schafer portrays Jules, a character searching for where she belongs in this new suburban landscape, recently moved from the city after her parents’ divorce.

I love how aware Hunter is of her self even when she says, "I'm white and I'm skinny and I pass, that's how I got here," is super poignant and compassionate.

Thats all, just acknowledging the problem so we can all work towards a better future that’s equal and fair for everyone. I would encourage you to do more research! Because you’re coming across very ignorant and I don’t know if you’re choosing to do that or if that’s just some thing that’s happened to you but either way you SHOULD, Try to be more understanding. Whether or not you actually do that is up to you, but I’m just letting you know how it is!

Her, acknowledging her privilege (white, skinny, "passing") is amazing and makes me fall in love with her even more.

@Henry Mv Passing doesn't refer to beauty, like ugly, passable, pretty, etc. it means she "passes" as her gender i.e. female. Some trans people don't look as much like societal standards of what their preferred gender is and it creates many problems for them, including harassment, abuse, rape, and murder.

Everyone group is above some other minority in life, but white men and women are at the top, and them not believing they're privileged is a big problem.

this show means a lot to me mainly for the fact that i could relate to half of the characters on the show, you don’t see stuff like that in real life because everyone keeps that kinda shit to themselves. from self harm, to even being a young girl and falling under the trap to older men and even lying about your age, to depression, drug addiction, sexuality, i mean a lot of it hit home. shit, even the scene when Rue was depressed watching love island 24/7 i could relate to lmao. it was kinda (really) triggering to watch, but i loved this show... it made me feel a lot less alone, and i love how it shows the consequences and the negatives instead of glamorizing drugs, mental illness, and all that kind of stuff.
I absolutely love this show..her and the Entire cast kill their roles.. It's so gritty and real..this was made for the Emmy's!!!

I feel like a lot of people are quick to be hard on particular characters, for whatever reason, and miss the fact that all of these characters have flaws and just like humans in everyday life, don’t always make the best decision. The show does a good job at showing how most of these people are trying their best, and shows how circumstance and context shapes what people think is best in different situations. Even Nate doesn’t ENJOY being abusive and violent, but he feels that that’s the best way that he can try to get what he sees as the best outcome. Some things deserve forgiveness and some things don’t, but I feel like this show is less about passing judgement and more about giving an insight to why some people are the way that they are.
(No I do not think that Nate is a good guy, I’m just using him as an example of storytelling).
teszness wow, yes! i’ve been trying to explain this to people. I do my best to try and understand every character, that’s why i love them all....except Nate, for obvious reasons tho lol. Jules get so much hate for how’s shes treating Rue after what she’s going thru but they won’t try to understand that Jules is going thru sooo much also and they’re just coping differently :(

Respect. That is the one word I could think to describe this individual. She's not Hollywood or affected by that bullship and it really shows this was an amazing casting choice I hope that she does continue to act cause she's a Natural. I love jules character so much. She is genuinely a artistic person and you can see it in her personality and clothing. And like hunter said her being trans is obviously an important part in her story but she is more than that. She is a normal high school girl just like everyone else. Especially in the special episode where she talked about feeling the need to be what men want her to be to feel like a woman enough or beautiful enough is something that alot of cis or trans girls go through. Plus hunter is absolutely beautiful and intelligent and her and zendaya killed it as rue and jules.
