in the first Reno fight, if you dodge into him as he does his thrust attack that leads into beat down (the attack he opens with) cloud does a flip over him, opening him up to a huge combo. i found out about this on a "no damage reno" video. haven't found any other enemy you can do this against :p
You can pretty much cancel most anything of Tifa's with the Parry Materia. Early enough at times that you can do so while she's mid-air after landing a Focused Strike.
Thank you for your vids you took my Tifa gameplay to the next level. I am not going to lie, I really wasn't fond of using her at first until I saw her value with staggered opponents, and those glorious, buttery smooth combos.
With cloud, in punisher mode, once you finish the regular square attack sequence, you get stuck in animation for a bit. Just press triangle to swich back to operative mode right away, skipping the animation. That and disorder skill is a blast to use and attacking non stop
I have two strats with Tifa that worked for me quite well. First, against bulkier enemies that don't move quite as much i tend to use atb boost and chi trap x2. This just wrecks anything that doesn't move out of the way and many don't know that it actually deals magic damage so it ignores those pesky physical barriers or enemies that dodge physical attacks. The second i don't often hear mentioned is using the starshower buff. You have quite a bit of time to use the next skill which can even be an offensive spell and the buff is more significant than people think. So for instance you could stop the enemy, use starshower then cast an -aga spell. It works even better if you are anywhere near Aerith's ward because you get some time to do the next skill after starshower and still get the bonus damage. You would also get the skill master bonus with the above combo.
Abilities don't take Cloud out of punisher mode.. try combining triple slash and focused thrust with disorder to enter punisher mode, it increases punisher mode mobility and makes being outnumbered alot more fun. Its almost cheating. Mythril Staff, plus 2x Master magic plus.. Aerith has over 500 magic at lvl 50. Dodge away from Renos first attack, then dodge directly toward him and enjoy the result..

@Derek Bartlett yup. You can do that. It's just a workaround for people who would have depleted MP. But ya, once the bosses are staggered I unload magic attacks.
Its not as bad as some people make it to be. I noticed that I would regain a bit of mp after each fight with regular mobs on hard mode and I would come across boxes on the regular. The last chapter is where you really have to watch your mp since its a bunch of boss fights. Having prayer and chakra on each character helped a lot for the healing. Also if you can get the accessory from Pride and Joy before you start your hard mode run it’ll make your run a lot smoother.
Not a build, but did you know that Self Destruct auto death can be avoided with full Warding + Subversion materia? Note thought that you still take a crap ton of damage, so if you're not at full health you most likely will die. But good trade off for 4-5k worth of damage and possibly even more with fury ring equipped. Just have chakra and healing carcanet handy and you can spam self destruct all day :P

Don't need refocus to hit 500% stagger on Fat Choccy. Just have the same ATB bonus materia and full Focus, as he hits Stagger 160%, Spam out True Strike (+30% Stagger), should be able to land at least 5 (+150%), Then use your Rise and Fall (+30%), spam 2 more True Strike (+60%), Omnistrike (+30%) and one more True Strikes (+30%).
One of the benefits of fitting Aerith with a deadly dodge materia is simple in reducing the delay between dodging and performing a basic attack. If you find yourself trying to use Aerith's dodge to make space between her and another opponent (eligor fight when he's in the air as an example) you can get a lot of mileage out of those repeat dodges by attacking in between each one. This is much more sluggish when she doesn't have one of these materia equipped. Small caveat being that dodging with Aerith is usually less useful than simply running, so your mileage may vary.
how do you get that accessory for Tifa that gives her instant limit break? also, if you made your 2 other party members into frogs with that ring, you might be able to get staggered up to 500%? they won't be able to do as much damage that way
It's an item for defeating pride and joy at the shinra battle simulator. You need to best the game first, then chapter select 17. It can only be done in hard mode

Tifa's Unbridled Strength (and the "Concentration" weapon ability) raises her "Chi Level", of which there are 3 tiers: level 0/normal, level 1, and level 2. The levels buff her combos and damage, and unlock her higher-level triangle moves (Level 0 = Rising Uppercut, 1 = Omnistrike, 2 = Rise & Fall). The levels degrade over time (the counter is behind the triangle move in her command list) or after you use the triangle move.
Its a 2 different genre, so its not comparable, dmc is an action game with very minimal restictions, the main goal is to string up combos to kill enemy and get a rank sss, in ff7r its actionRPG, there is alot of variables and restrictions to balance the fight, ff7r is a tactical, precision and skill based battle mechanics while managing atb well of not just 1 but 3 characters, its hard to compare it now cause it is unique system, it kninda like ff13 lr or 15 or type 0 or 4-10 atb system or kh, but its really unique, its not perfect but its really good, dmc on the other hand is comparable to bayonetta or metal gear rising... i love dmc too man, i just play dmc as dmc and ff7r as ff7r

U can reset your upgrade to your weapons to lower your damage, u could hit a higger stagger % on chocobo
If he stopped attacking and just did abilities that upped the stagger he would be able to as well

You regain 10% mp per mako shard. It takes me at most 5 mins to replenish mp. It's not hard or as time consuming as people seem to think.
My comment was really more to help ppl who were struggling with the MP issue.

maybe reset your weapons and don't place anything in attack or magic. maybe that is how they were kept alive long enough to reach 500
