  • Uday Prakash: The Road Not Taken: Uday Prakash, Jason Grunebaum & Saurabh Dwivedi
Uday Prakash is one of the few Indian language writers who has been widely translated into vernacular and major foreign languages. Most of his short stories have been adapted for the stage and films. In 2015, he came into focus when he returned the Sahitya Akademi Award in protest against the murder of dissenting writers, which turned out to become a central nonconformist movement of writers and artists in India.
Awards: SAARC Literary Award, Sahityakaar Samman
Bestselling/ popular Books: Peelee Chhatri Wali Ladki, The Walls of Delhi
Jason Grunebaum is a writer and translator whose books include Uday Prakash’s The Girl with the Golden Parasol, The Walls of Delhi and, with Ulrike Stark, Manzoor Ahtesham’s The Tale of the Missing Man. His work has been shortlisted for the DSC Prize in South Asian Literature, longlisted for the National Translation Award and awarded the Global Humanities Translation Prize, a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship and a PEN/Heim Translation Grant. He teaches both Hindi and literary translation at the University of Chicago.
Saurabh Dwivedi is the Founding Editor of The Lallantop, India’s most talked about vernacular digital first news venture known for its election coverage and new age writing style. Dwivedi is also known for his news web series Political Kisse, which has millions of views. Previously, he worked with Aajtak, Star News, Dainik Bhaskar and Nav Bharat Times. He is currently working on some film scripts and a romance novel.
Uday Prakash: The Road Not Taken
Writer and independent filmmaker Uday Prakash has been described as ‘one of India’s most original and audacious writers’. A major voice in contemporary Hindi literature, his themes focus on the human and political contradictions of modern India. His fiction and poetry have been widely translated and he has been awarded major Indian and international awards yet he remains rooted in rural life in his native village of Sitapur in Madhya Pradesh. The erudite and everprovocative Prakash will be in conversation with Saurabh Dwivedi, pondering life and the world of letters with his trademark irony and caustic humour.

    क्या खूब कि 2001 में ही पाकिस्तान के वरिष्ठ शायर इफ़्तख़ार ज़ालिब की कविता 'पीली छतरी वाली लड़की' रफ़ीक अहमद के संपादन में प्रकाशित हुई थी. यह कविता पाकिस्तान की मशहूर उर्दू पत्रिका 'तहरीर' में छपी थी
