Today on the Daily News You Can Use, Ray and Zach are joined by Marcello from Toyota Wold to talk all things Toyota. Tune in to learn more.
At least they didn't include SHOCKED in the headline. I've watched Zach and Ray for quite a while, but the inaccurate headlines get a little tiring.
Regarding Toyota, customers aren't buying because their engines and transmissions have gone from being the MOST DEPENDABLE to PURE IMPLODING CRAP. Engines that used to reliably last to 500,000 miles now implode at less than 75,000 miles. Toyota no longer designs for LONG TERM LONGEVITY, but for designed INTENTIONAL FAILURE.
Even if Toyota had not HOSED the powertrains on 3-4 of their most popular models, their MSRP pricing model would STILL be way out of whack. Sure, this is about reliability. But it's also about financial realities for buyers right now.
Chances are because they have changed so much the last couple of years..engine,tranny,ect that they are gonna have issues..no companies likes recalls..it's cost WAY to much..that's why it didn't change much at all for so many years..time will tell later once they fix the issues
@@NVRAMboi100% Toyota Dealerships are giving Toyota a bad name by selling over msrp!
It is not really planned failure , it is executives putting profits and shareholders over quality and their customers, by using inferior parts and procedures-@user-zo6xg8bx4I. This is what happens when you put Americans in charge of making Toyotas. Americans are total F^^kups when it comes to making Cars.
@@NVRAMboi I agree, but with their new attitude of building designed obsolescence into their vehicles, even if their autos were more reasonably priced many people would hesitate to buy Toyota products.
I'll keep my recall free ,no payments 2015 honda accord thanks
It’s not the tech it’s the quality of parts, all the car manufacturers are sourcing parts from all over the world where as they used to be made in house with proper quality control. Now either their specifications aren’t right , or the quality inspections aren’t being done on imported or domestic parts coming to the plant
Or standards have lowered
I think Toyota is making a huge mistake by putting all their eggs in one basket. Not everyone is enamored with hybrid cars. Some of us like the bullet proof cars that lasted half a million miles, what about us?
Yes, and they dismiss $2,000-$3,000 extra for the hybrid version as not significant. You know, I could buy a decent amount of insurance and gas for $2,000-$3,000 and still feel I was ahead that way.
Plus they throw their hybrid customers under the bus if the engine has major defects. They're recalling the non-hybrid Tundras with engine failures but specifically use the hybrid system as an excuse not to do the same for hybrid Tundra owners with the same failure-prone engine.
Spot on! I’m sooo glad I decided to buy my Tundra in 2015. Love that truck, got a killer deal on it and have no intention of ever letting it go
The added complexity adds $ not only up front, but down the line. Parts FAIL regardless of quality and manufacturer, except of some not as often or easily as of others. More parts = more failures = more costs.
$$$$$$$$$$$$
Hahaha this guy is such a Toyota salesman! Toyota is at the top..... Tundra (engine recall) Tacoma (transmission and diff issues), grand Highlander (airbags) Toyota safety cheating scandal.... They are still a great manufacturer but it's been a rough year and this guy is blind to any of the negative.... Terrible guest!
Also he mentioned they have a hot new 2025 Camry hybrid. BUT, it turns out this is the same as the 2024 Camry hybrid with a mild exterior refresh on the front and rear clips. The big change is that the Camry is only available as the hybrid now.
@@waynek805 he's a salesman for Toyota near Toronto. What he l said about adding the tracking feature is also false because they bring the cars straight to the ships in Toronto and Montreal. It made the news, ppl could track their vehicles to ship yard but by the time the police got involved, they got a warrant, the cars were at sea so... No. It's not a deterrent
The Tundra has also had tons of transmission issues, the engine failures just garners the most attentionn. There are many issues with a variety of vehicles Toyota sells these days. Not to mention the fact that for the last 14 years or so, Toyota says it's normal for their engines to burn 1 quart every 1200 miles. You could buy a brand new Rav4 and if it burns 3 or 4 quarts of oil between 5000 mile oil changes, they would shrug and say it's normal, and tell you to gtfo
@@hochhaulfake news mate. Where did you ever hear that.
Car Care Nut did a video on Highlander and Camry Panoramic roofs. Be careful getting one with it.
Right I seen that Video myself was thinking the exact same thing 🇺🇸👍
I absolutely despise the panoramic roofs. My 2024 Camry had one, as well as the KIA Sportage. Honda CR-V has a moonroof, which I am happy to have.
Is Toyota now following GM, Ford, Chrysler, etc by building garbage non-long lasting overpriced vehicles???

They usually are
There are 3 or 4 youtube channels right now that are constantly using misleading thumbnails. Very negative ones too. I have actually stopped watching the other channels. It's just too much. People are coming to these channels for good information, they don't need to use these misleading thumbnails. PLEASE STOP.
Yeah, how hard is it to add Grand Highlander Hybrid to the end?
you must be new here
Welcome to the channel! Their click-bait is almost as good as Scotty's were....LOL.
I just wanted a plain old corolla and could not get one who the hell can afford a grand highlander??
This.
There are MILLIONS AND MILLIONS of dumb folk who are convinced they NEED a grand highlander or some other OVER PRICED POS! They'll point out: The gas mileage savings of the hybrid offset the higher payment, LOL!!!!!

They dont build low end now. It is very rare😂😂😂. They will make you buy the high end trim corolla.
Get a Honda non turbo. I was a toyota loyalist
Get a 2025 Camry for $35,800 and a $799 doc fee.
The interview doesn't justify the click-bait title. So the Grand Highlander isn't being sold, Toyota is not in major trouble.
The beginning of the end
Toyota is in major trouble. This has nothing to do with it.
Yes they are. Grand Highlander, tundra, and now customers talking about transmission issues with the Tacoma
Toyota holds the questionnaire title of being the most indebted company in corporate history. It does not sound like they are in great shape to me.
I live in a beachside town in Florida and I can tell you I've never seen so many older Japanese imported Kei mini trucks. You can get a Honda or other brand Keitora (light truck) with simple manual transmission that will last FOREVER and has cheap tires and maintenance for 8,000 dollars. Screw buying the 50,000 dollar cars that corporations in USA force upon us.
Exactly. Because ALL of the car companies sell cheap transportation in other countries but not the US.
Every single state is slowly banning those things from being road legal. Even Florida will do it once the big car companies grease enough palms.
@@nodak81 corruption is so big in USA.
I want to see what one looks like wadded up under a semi.
@@nodak81 the rich people in Florida will not give up the allowance of their gas powered golf carts on A1A so they can’t ban Kei trucks
*** It would be really useful to know the typical buyer profile for each of these cars. What is the average household income, credit score, amount financed (as a % of the car's MSRP) and loan to value, term of the loan - length and rate, how many pay cash, how many have a trade-in, average payment per each model. This would reveal who the addressable market is currently.
Agreed. The reality is that most Americans choose the features they want for the PAYMENT they THINK (not well) they can afford and that's it...! NEVER MIND: Insurance, track record of the specific vehicle, its engine and transmission, Phantom costs, other financial obligations, etc.
I'll hold onto my '86 Yugo. Got another ten years in it.
I thought that all the Yugos had already been converted into nonfunctional art cars. Oh, wait. They were already nonfunctional cars. ; - )
My VW dealership has shut down , here in the Palm Springs area...
"Economic Darwinism".
Higher prices, higher interest rates, poorer quality and dealership games are the norm at Toyota now. Also here in FL lots of dealership inventory especially the failing motor Tundras and made in Mexico Tacomas. I won't buy from them now.
I started working at a Toyota store in the early 90's in parts. We had 3.0 V6 blocks stacked to the ceiling. People said the same thing back then (before the internet I might add). Those engines are considered extremely reliable now. These "failed" Tundra engines are just a small hickup. Mark my words, these will go down as very reliable engines in the future.
Engines made in Japan had the same problems , nothing wrong with Mexico !
Car insurance is also skyrocketing.
I'm in FLorida, too. Lots of Toyotas on the lots near to me.
Please people: BOYCOTT and keep driving what you're driving unless we are talking MAJOR FAILURE (like trans or engine...)!! Pass it on!! Toyota pulls this crap of not building popular vehicles to keep the prices up and shaft those stupid enough to pay their excessive prices.

Even "niche" vehicles should be affordable. Niche market doesnt mean luxury, it means specific tastes.
Zach, you are correct about the fact that our phones know our GPS destinations for advertising, but our phones also "listen" to our conversations now, too!! (And we all likely approved it whenever we click the "approve" button for every app that likely has this permission buried down in paragraph 175 of the approval doc.)

True post, our dealer where I live doesn't have much of anything new, almost all are used. It has been that way all summer!
There are a group of people who can only afford Toyota Yaris and Honda Fit. They cannot even afford Toyota Corolla or Honda Civic. But in 2020, US government conspired with all car manufactures to stop producing subcompact and hatchback cars in hope to drive people to buy EV. Big mistake. Now the market lacks used subcompact cars. So people have to buy even older cars than 2020 models and drive up all used car prices.
Carmakers generally have nothing to offer, to over 80% of Americans.
It doesn't matter how nice it is, if people can't afford it or aren't willing to pay for it, the market is limited.
The idea that, if you just add more electronics and leather, you can sell all your cars for $80,000 and up, is just silly. Jeep is finding this out, and Toyota is only selling what it makes because production is way down.
The 2024 Tacoma just cracked 100,000 units. They have a few months left, though anything not already shipped is probably a 2025.
They had been selling a quarter million a year until now.
You are saying that the Government caused the Chip crisis? Interesting. Just to sell EVs that have more chips in them? Really? Tell us more.
@@davidbeppler3032
IN nature, EV has to be small in size. The logical buyers are those buying Honda Fit or Toyota Yaris. To discontinue these models, the buyers of such small cars will be switched to buy early EVs when government wants to make ICE obsolete before 2030 or 2035. So even cars like Honda Fit has still been sold in the rest of the world (as Honda Fit or Honda Jazz), USA no longer sold them for years. All brands stopped selling subcompact cars at the same time about four or five years ago. This decision has already been made way before the first Covid 19 case or chip shortage during the Covid 19 pandemics.
Government doesn’t want us to have cars period.

Bought a 2008 Toyota Sequoia with 200k miles, still runs like a beast.
My dealership in Spring Tx is selling regular Highlanders as soon as they come off the truck. I had them pull the keys as soon as the one I was after that was coming in. Knew about it two weeks earlier. Went I went to start shopping for one, they had 6 on the lot, but only 1 was not spoken for.

Toyota has slowly went to crap as a tek i see the insides the older 2007 and around that year 4th gen i think 4 runner had a v8 option that engine had low end power now it a 4 banger and cost 2 time s more and even that engine has head gasket issues due to a small hole in block make sealing surface a bit small .the first 1uz-fe was built right in 1990 or so the vvti heads fixed power issue but even that one got tiny connecting rods but only affects hot roder and we junk them for china made better forged units or usa top shelf stuff
Funny that Mazda, Subaru, Honda, Ford and Chevy all have new vehicles on the lot where I live, but Toyota has almost nothing new on their lots. And it has been that way for a LONG time now.
The title is a complete lie. Toyota had the lowest days inventory in the industry. They are not struggling to sell, neither are their customers struggling to buy
Not going to buy another vehicles for a while with all the recalls and the crazy prices.

Plenty of 10+ year older Toyotas out there to buy, which are reliable and much more affordable to maintain/insurance rates. I would stay out of the newer car market. Why take the hit on a depreciating item that’s overloaded with tech and safety features?
Having the warranty would seem like the only reason, unless you find that new vehicle smell irresistible.
Why didn't you ask him about the tundra where 100,000 trucks have a recall , I bought one of the trucks in canada, piece of junk . I used to like your site, but it sounded like a love fist with toyota.
The average wait time for a new Corolla or Yaris in Australia is 12 months - even after waiting all that time, you won’t necessarily get the actual vehicle you ordered. To add insult to injury, they charge a premium for relatively meagre engines. I’ll be getting a Mazda.
It doesn't make sense to go hybrid bc the battery is old and needs replaced by 5 to 8 years unless you plan to get a new car that often. Bottom line: It costs more to buy and more to maintain. At least the hybrid doesn't cost electricity to charge!
I’ll never buy any vehicle where I have to wait a year for delivery. This slow delivery scheme is just a way to maximize pricing and profits by artificially raising perceived demand . We need to return to where inventory is on dealer lots and we can walk in, make a deal and drive away same day.
Just go buy a Mazda or Honda instead, they have plenty in stock, no need to wait 2 years for it to be delivered.
I'm going back to Ford. Better quality than these cheap plastic Asian brands
Better yet: BOYCOTT and keep driving what you're driving!!
I would love for you to have racers on your channel
We ordered a Corolla Cross Hybrid in August 2023 here in Canada 🇨🇦.They told us it would be 8 months, which we were fine with. Sept 6 2024 (13 months later) we went into the Dealership. They have no information for us whatsoever. No production date, Nothing. This I find is bizarre and unacceptable.
I would seek consumer protection laws or an attorney in Canada, don't wait, be proactive, doesn't sound good
fr Boston. can confirm. We went down to Disneyworld and weee standing in line talking when some girls tapped us on the shoulder and asked, "Are y'all from Boston? You keep saying WICKED and AWESOME! We LOVE your accent!" Meanwhile we're thinking THEYRE the ones w the accent for saying y'all etc lol
I'd rather spend 90k to overhaul/rebuild a 30 year old car then buy new crap that spies on you and breaks down constantly. Too much tech in cars!
Let me know when you have spent the 90K.
I find it hard to believe that these large vehicles manufacturers, like Toyota, make super expensive daily drivers and expect to sell them to the average consumer. They too must think the Federal Reserve and US Treasury will continue to print and hand out free money, called QE. The average car payment today is $750, and $1000 is not unusual. So why not raise prices? The money machine is working overtime. It's only now that we are seeing some cracks and it can only get worse.
Ray, you don't have to develop the software and/or hardware to get a patent. And sometimes patents are filed to prevent someone else from doing it. Not that they are looking out for you, but so that someone else doesn't get the patent and then start making money from it.
And for instance the Lexus TX all trims are affected as well.
I was rear ended by a Hyundai last week...the air bags never went off on the Hyundai and they took the woman away in an ambulance. I asked around and many different makes have this problem...they haven't told owners there are recalls. Everyone should check their own vehicles if there is a recall.
What's the point in theft GPS when the RCMP won't even go recover a MPs car when it had GPS tracking to a container set for export?
If someone thinks that vehicle prices will jump in 2025 & 2026...they have no clue what's installed for the vehicle market!!

You would think some of these "Car Guru" channels might talk about the fact that Toyota is in more debt than any other company on the planet (aside from financial lending companies). $221 billion in debt.
Not surprising if you think about it. This is a US Presidential Election year and I've heard/read/seen nothing about the US Federal Deficit. It's like ignoring Mt. Everest in your own backyard.
He's full of crap. "we're very busy, very very busy." Toyota can't sell Taco's or 4Runners & Tundras. Low interest on Tundra's?? Engines grenading?? Give me a break. I worked for dealers in sales, one thing you can always bet on, they will lie to you. That's why I don't sell cars, tired of my managers lying to my customers.
Honestly, I love the fact that Toyota stopped production on said vehicle. If it was an AMERICAN company they’d still be pumping out junk. It’s sad but true
If Toyota is in such big trouble why are sales up 14.3% in first quarter 2024 and second quarter they are up 9.2%.
Nokia's highest sales were the same year the first Iphone came out.
@@davidbeppler3032 So, from the looks of things Toyota is the leader. Their hybrid sales are up almost 65%
I don't think Toyota (the corporation) is in any immediate trouble. The problem is the stock. It hasn't moved much since 2019 (from around $136 in 2019 to $176 yesterday). That's not good and only about 27% in 5 years. Moreover, analysts have concluded that car prices will return to normalcy this year and actually decline, etc. 2025, etc. I think the entire auto industry may be in for some tough times in the years to come.

Hybrid: With two power sources, it sounds like there are more things to potentially go wrong. ICE is less complex.
If you use Toyotas search inventory feature the Grand Highlander isn’t even an option.
What is the ratio of new car purchases to new car manufacturing capacity? For example, China consumes 21 million cars per year. What is the manufacturing capacity in China?
China was a 'for example'. What are the consumption of capacity numbers for the U.S.? I understand that some models are imported, that is, not made here. But we cannot import buyers. So how does manufacturing/importing square with consumption? I'd guess that worldwide - and in particular the biggest markets - the auto manufacturing capacity is greater than auto consumption.
I agree Toyota will never see BEV segment above 20% of their sales because they have no interest in putting out a BEV because it competes with their hybrid technology they covet so much. Hybrid was never going to be the solution, it was only ever going to be a bridge to a more sustainable power source. Be it BEV, HFC, ect.
Once again Great video Thank You Both.

This guy from ToyotaWorld, either doesn't know $hit, or is a salesman that makes up stuff as he goes. The stop sale on the GH was the 3rd week of June, now going on 3 months. They obviously don't have a clue if or when Toyota will get this issue fixed. Not sure, but seems like these 4 cylinder engines w/turbo's or hybrids, are not able to push these large heavy vehicles and the engines are not dependable. I saw a video on youtube of the GH, in the front offset crash test, where the crash test dummy's head ended hitting the A-pillar, as the head slipped between the drivers side curtain airbag and the steering wheel airbag.
