Glad to see someone actually lapping the cylinders to each cylinder! I still do it on every engine for piece of mind . You can’t always trust the machining !
marcijunebug thank you for the kind words, I figured with so many people watching Mustie and some of the others that it would be pointless to even record these videos. You and a few others have proved me wrong. Thank you 🙏
@@VWJawbreaker i have a piston question. So I bought a set of big bore 81mm pistons from WW. On the top of the pistons there is no marking ( arrow ) to show which way to install towards flywheel. How do I install these pistons ?
Great tutorial. New Subscriber just because you're smart and that makes me smart, smarter, smarties anyway thanks for sharing your knowledge. Blessings and more Blessings to you and your family
I appreciate the kind words! I’m the first to admit I’m not the smartest, I just know a thing or two. With others in the VW community, we are stronger together. Hope you stick around, comment and share your thoughts!
How many times have I heard..."back in the day I could drop my VW engine, rebuild it, reinstall and drive down the road in a day." After watching these videos....Bulldinky!!! Laughing, those are all the same people that swear they were at Woodstock! hahaha
William Cronin it definitely can be done that way but I prefer to mock things up so I know everything is right where it needs to be instead of saying it should be close enough. There are a lot of people that just slap them together and they run fine. But why take a chance? Not to mention Bentley wants to put a supercharger on this at some point down the road.... he needs to know the exact details of this engine for the supercharger guy.
steve pimentel that is how you lap the cylinders to the head. The heads aren’t always flat and if you don’t do this there is a good chance you can have a compression leak. This is a metal to metal contact surface that must seal 100%. However there are plenty of ways to skin a cat.
ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!! I checked, FL vanity tag "ME OCD" is available!
William Cronin lol, might have to look into that!!
Awesome video!!! Appreciate you taking time to do this!!
Vintage Beetle And Memories thanks for the kind words!
Great video brother! Keep them coming! =) Be good!
CT thanks man! 😎
Nice and thorough! Makes me want to start another engine build! Very nice work!
E-man Deluxe thank you! Luckily I have another one coming up soon hopefully so let me know if there are any other details you might want to see!
@@VWJawbreaker I will definitely keep it in mind. Looking forward to more
Thank you for taking time to show this and why. great video
+Tom Turk thank you for watching
Thank you for making these videos Gary! They are so helpful 👍😎
Dust Buggy I do try! Thanks for watching and I hope you find them useful.

rusty65vw most definitely can not trust run of the mill machine work. Glad to know I’m not the only one still doing it!
Make it look easy! 👍great video! I know it’s hard to film/teach as you DO sometimes so I really appreciate when folks can do that

We all do and learn things differently! I like getting different folks takes on things! It’s how I learn best! Keep it up man!
marcijunebug I couldn’t agree more. Thank you so much for the support and encouragement!

Great work there bud!!
VeeDub P8 thank ya sir!
Love this stuff, VWJawbreaker! Thanks for sharing your expertise, this is important stuff in the life of a VW engine!
Haptic Garage thanks buddy, I try to share what I know. Maybe someone will find the info useful

@@VWJawbreaker supercharger 😍 that'll make a good episode!
If you buy new case ,heads and cylinders can you skip the mock up the top end when you building a engine?
kg4qpb Laureano not really unless you don’t want to know what you’re compression ratio will be. It’s a good idea to know that.
👍✌
Vintage Speed VW 🙄😂
Cylinders should not be spun all the way around..must mate them just the way thay sit in the head..
