  • The third piece of Krishna's recital at the FEA-curated The Essential TM Krishna in Concert in Kolkata was a Shyama Shastri composition entitled Kanaka Shaila Viharini in Ragam Punnagavarali.
Krishna was accompanied by Akkarai Subhalakshmi on violin, Arunprakash Krishnan on mridangam and Chandrasekara Sharma on ghatam. Tanpura support was provided by Krishna's student Vignesh Krishnamurthy and Ritwik Pal.
The concert was part of a tour of Kolkata co-produced by First Edition Arts and Experimenter Gallery Kolkata who were celebrating their 10th Anniversary.

Sri TMK is not singing for the audience or for the money paid for the performance. He sings for his own SELF SATISFACTION. Enjoy his body language which is very clear about his involvement, and how he wants to present in the best way possible. Akkarai Mrs Subbulakshmi enjoys playing the Violin for TMK . Sit in a quiet place and listen . You can see Sri Kamakshi in your heart

@@krishnaphanindra1841 yes, karna is ear. The name Karnataka Sangeetha came because at one point of time apparently the region below vidhya parvata used to be called Karnataka. It is synonymous to southern music. I think karnatik is englishized version of Karnataka

@@aparnack No. It is called carnatic because this form of music was(is) is the most popular form of music in the kingdom of the nawab of carnatic. Which is largely the same as the madras presidency. It is another matter that the music was also popular in other parts of South India like Travancore and Mysore. So I guess we should start calling it South Indian Classical Music or Dakshina Bharatiya Shastriya Sangeetha.
