It would be nice if they could rebuild the route from East Kilbride through to Hamilton, but I think part of the trackbed has been built on.

Why wont they say the line IS to be doubled all the way to East Kilbride and not mention the fate of Thorntonhall station
I mean surely they have to build a second platform there if it were to be so because it’d be daft to have a double, single then double track again heading towards the new hairmyers station especially if they plan to run 4 trains every half an hour on the line

Hi, the route isn't being double-tracked all the way to East Kilbride, we're extending the current double-track section by 1.4km though.

Yes but if some of it is as stated double tracked i.e at the new Hairmyres station and a bit is single track I.e at throntonhall then essentially you have a logjam if a 4 trains per half an hour service is to run. The sensible thing IS the double track all the way for that kind of service to operate like at Barrhead where there is a platform for trains to stop

5 routes between Edinburgh and Glasgow. I can only find 4. Can you elaborate on what the 5 are?

What disused railway is he talking about?

Hi Fergus, it's a disused bridge over the railway. We're removing the old abutments.
