    I sent all 3 into the official Luminox repair center and they confirmed that all 3 were authentic Luminox watches. But since Amazon is not an authorized reseller, they weren’t covered under warranty. They offered to fix them for me at their standard repair rates. Luminox told me that if they were not authentic, they would not be allowed to repair them. So once again, these are real according to Luminox.

      I've been scammed by more fakes and had warranty's denied from Amazon than all the other purchases I've made in my entire life. Amazon sells fakes, Amazon allows third parties to put corporate names as their company title. And legit companies like Honeywell sell their items that failed inspection via Amazon. Amazon doesn't care.
      I bought an Apple power supply from 'Apple' on Amazon. A year later it started to smoke. I opened it up to repair it and it didn't look like the photos and videos of real Apple power supplies. Total fake, Apple wasn't selling through Amazon at that time. I've bought Apple products for 30 years - the packaging fooled me. Could've burned down my house.
      I bought a Janome sewing machine on Amazon from "Janome" totally out of calibration. I called up Janome: lifetime warranty. "We do not sell on Amazon." Cost me $200 to fix a new $320 sewing machine. I complained and now the scammer has changed their Amazon name to "Brand: Janome."
      I would never buy an expensive watch from Amazon. Never. And what's with these companies denying stated warranty service because their item was sold via Amazon??
      And thanks for the video. I'll probably just avoid Luminox all together now. I have a G-Shock that's been great, thinking of getting a new watch with tritium for sailing. There's absolutely no excuse for the problems you've had with these watches.

      @@WillN2Go1 I can agree to that. Amazon sells fakes of Chinese watches. Pretty sad that we are buying Chinese fakes of Chinese originals.

      But he confirms these to be real not fakes. Also serial numbers? IMHP a serial # confirms the realness of a watch. For a company not to honor a warranty is just poor. This also would suggest why Luminox isn’t a REAL military spec watch or have a true military contract. These guys run around with “SEAL” every other word. And your shit falls out ? When SURFING?!? I mean surfing is great but it ain’t protecting democracy at 200 feet blowing up a submarine or whatever seals need Luminox watches to do. I think what bothers me the most is all that bravado : seals sp ops etc “manly music” playing in the background big burley dude getting out of an off road vehicle ready for business then his little light falls off his watch. I expect that in an action adventure comedy. Now there is Deep Blue who makes cheap tritium watches super affordable but doesn’t flex. Or get a Marathon that has a serial # and mil specs on its case

    I remember Swimming with a simple Swatch watch (30m) back in the 80s and i never had any water issues. Now 100m waterproof watches cant hold just laying in the pool. Hillarious!

    I am a retailer myself and authorized to sell Luminox brand in my stores. Not trying to be smart but just because it was purchased from Amazon doesn't mean it's authentic. The reason Luminox will not provide coverage for watches purchased online from anywhere online is because of the huge number of counterfeits which for the average consumer is hard to recognize. Not trying to be rude but I am surprised with the first watch purchased online having issues why would you continue to purchase online. Go to your local authorized retailer no Amazon is not an authorized retailer or Luminox would stand behind it. Go buy one from an authorized retailer then do a comparative review. I would say do not purchase any Luminox or any watch from an unauthorized source man. Based on your videos I bet you have counterfeits with all the issues you are having. I would be willing to send you one from our store and do not expect any sort of recognition. I just know that Luminox makes good watches when they come from an authorized retailer and the authenticity can be 100% guaranteed. Sadly in today's times buying this type item online is risky business and the reason Luminox strongly advises against it. Many online sellers with good intentions think they are selling a genuine Luminox brand watch when they realize that it is far from authentic once issues start to arise. Then it is too late and it hurts everyone. Sorry to leave such a long comment but I am so confident these are good watches I am willing to send you one for T and E that if you like it you can keep it, no obligation. Anyway good video man!

      Ryan Dacus to be fair, i bought my 3000 from an authorized retailer. never taken it off except to change time and replace a battery, and my glass capsule for the tritium housing fell too. not so surprising considering its not the most robust design for where its placed seeing as it will get bumped. you would think they would use a better epoxy. also the paint on the bezel is wearing off. for what the watch os supposed to be, i do expect more for $300, but i do aslo understand that aesthetics is not everything.

    • @treygregory7929
      @treygregory7929 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Codga2001 It’s not the company’s responsibility to prove every counterfeit version of their watch is fake. Especially if the buyer didn’t listen to the company and didn’t buy from an authorized dealer. Had he bought from an authorized dealer, they would cover it. It’s that simple.
      These businesses don’t have unlimited time and resources to dedicate to every person who gets ripped off in a transaction they had nothing to do with. There’s a difference between good customer service, and losing money (in employee’s time) to deal with something that was completely out of your control. I would be worried about the future of any company that took the time to do something so silly.

    Thank you for the review. The Luminox is a nice watch and I would like to get one. After listening to your comments I truly question the reliability and quality of the watch- it's a big issue for me. I don't want to waste 300-400 for nothing. I see it can be used in a limited tactical situation but not in combat. In a real tactical situation, you need a stopwatch, timer and on a dive, a watch that won't leak or fail. Time accuracy is extremely important when coordinating with units in a combined arms situation.

    As a watch dealer for many years, watches that range 50-275 dollars, time after time you will have minor issues. Whatever activities you might do, you are bumping into things you might not notice, things happen, but they are overall great watches, well built. Also the moisture part from the water sometimes after setting the time, as humans the crown tightening is not perfect ever. Sometimes it just doesn't close enough, or we didn't tighten it enough.

    One question...
    is the water issue most often due to the back of the case not being secured....or is it from the permeability of the area around the crystal? I have an 8800 series Recon...and I barely got the top wet, and it fogged up.

    I bought mariner blackout model. The movement went after about five years, never abused and worn only going out socializing. Had it checked out, too much money to repair. I have a 30 dollar Casio with a ten year battery and it is still going after ten years. Heard similar stories from people I know about Luminox watches, never again.

    I have an older Titanium Luminox 3600 series. It has taken to "sticking" periodically when the date changes over. This causes loss of correct time. The problem does not appear to be battery related and is somehwat random. No longer under warranty. Having read all the comments for this video I am unsure whether it would be worth it to have the watch repaired.

    I work at the only authorized Luminox repair center in N. America. In Cranston RI, send the two watches in with the missing bezel glass covers. I can replace the entire bezel for a mere $15... These watches are indeed durable, however they're still plastic.. And you said they are 2+ years old? Plastic is not forever lol... As for the watch with water, it's said clearly in the manual NOT to take a watch into a hot shower.. Why do people continue to do this and then complain water got inside... Steam ruins the rubber gaskets inside therefore allowing water in. Plastic and rubber wear out, and need to be serviced, end of story. So get ur facts straight about materials and be reasonable with the $200 piece of plastic you bought.

    • @dmmcky
      @dmmcky 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can assure you his watches are authentic.. I've looked at them for the last 4 years now... And do NOT buy from Amazon or another non authorized dealer.. If they had that watch in their warehouse for 2 years, you think that battery is still good? And more importantly do you think the Amazon employee is remotely qualified to change your battery before they send it to you? Rofl... You'd be lucky they even put the gasket back inside

      I sent a Luminox to you're place of buisnes. They said that the motor needed replacing and a case re seal. I got the watch back still dirty,and crystal scratched worse than before. And all this for $145, I would have expected a new crystal maybe a new bezel for that price. They also did not even replace the battery. Now a year later I have to replace the battery. I know you or you're company don't care, just letting everyone know Luminox sucks ,partly because of their only warranty center. And since you're such a snotty fuck I'll call to let you're boss know!

      MXarcx Hi, my 3050.BO is also missing the little glass crystal above the tritium tube on the bezel. Did you ever have it repaired or could you find the part yourself? I would also like to fix this withouth sending it to Luminox and all. Greets.

    • @Hickory33
      @Hickory33 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      sh1zzle I had the same issue with the little glass piece at the 12 o'clock missing. I had mine repaired (out of warranty) from the US authorized repair center: Lumondi Service Center c/o Saltzman's Watches and More. If that is the only thing you are fixing, the cost to replace the bezel was $15.00 plus $12.95 S&H. I also chose to get the "general overhaul" service which is a new battery and fresh waterproofing gaskets and they perform a waterproofing test. The whole process of sending to them and having the work done are returned was about 2 weeks.

      OK, I think what you mean is that the number seven in the date box should have the short vertical line coming down from the top on the left side instead of just a horizontal line and the diagonal that goes to the bottom. However, after looking at many pictures of various Luminoxes, I see no 'barbs' on the bands anywhere.

    IMO the G Shock is as good as you can get for the price. Check out the GA100-1A1 which is a very good looking stealth/tactical watch that can be had for less than $100. It also is 200 m water resistant. Like the tan then check out the GA100SD-8A or the GD120CM-5 for camo.
    I cant see buying this when the G Shock is much less money and been used for years and proven by LEO and military in the field.

    I invested in one of these, and regret it. The tritium markers only last about 10-12 years from the date of manufacture before the glow starts dying off. And getting them replaced, if you can find someplace willing to do it, costs so much that you might as well replace it, which is what I ended up doing.

    11 years USMC in numerous deployments.."yes combat".. the only watches I or anybody else wore was GShock. The shit that them things went through and still worked is unbelievable...and is why military wears them. I love the design of the tactic-cool watches... but its all a gimic.. if you want to look like a Navy Seal at your computer desk than go for it. I like them.. but legit luminox price does not match the tritium tubes that have been known to just fall off the sticky tape. Still..if I were to go back in...Out of any of all the "military" watches...Im grabbing a GShock. But good vid..I trust ebay more than amazon now...at least I know who is sending it.

    I own a colormark and a 3000. I would have to see the movement on yours to be sure. BUT on the 8800, did your Dad screw with the case back? On authentic Luminox, 3000 for example, It will have a rubber o-ring seal that when I replace my battery I need to make sure to use vaseline on that o-ring before reassembly. This happened once to me - same thing. Dried it out, reassembled as described, dove 25'- 30' in sea water- no problems.

    I know this vid was posted ages ago, but it still makes me cringe in 2021. First of all, you question why the sapphire is missing from the bezel and then drop the watch very carelessly onto your desk, smh. It's very common for the tritium tubes to unseat themselves from that behaviour and I wouldn't be surprised if that eventually happened too. You wondered aloud about why the sapphire was missing from your 20th anniversary model, but you could clearly see in the vid that, contrary to your claim of lightly using/ handling the watch, there was distinct wear and tear ON the moulding of the pip, not to mention other places on the bezel.
    Your third model had actual water in the case and yet you still had the battery inserted! A Ronda movement is not expensive to replace, but then, the watches themselves are not of the highest quality. However, having said that - you need to care for your watches. If there is water present in the case, you need t immediately open the case, remove the battery, remove the crown and remove the movement and let the whole thing dry. Then, you take it in for service and have the gaskets replaced. I think there are a lot of folks who mistakenly believe that there is such a thing as waterproof. They also erroneously believe that a watch that looks rugged, or is branded with some military insignia is actually indestructible. I know the rant is not fair to the guy who posted this so many years after the fact, but still.

    i know this an old video but its still interesting for someone that has bought Luminox watches from Amazon. my issue wasn't the "fake" problem. my problem went back before they started using Asurion (spelling?) for warranty watch repair. i bought one 4 years ago. had a warranty issue. contacted Luminox and they said my warranty was void because i bought it from Amazon they are not an authorized distributor. Amazon eventually made good after i complained. they refunded the $280 purchase price. after that they started using this after-market repair company to handle warranties on products they're not authorized to sell.

    If someone buys a watch (or in fact any product) and its not to spec, why don't people just send it back to the retailer as faulty. It is clearly Amazon's responsibility to provide something that is as described and fit for purpose.

    Thanks for the video, beebrett619. I have the same issue of the missing window on the 12 with my 3001.BO. I've had other issues as well - the movement died at ~4 years, the strap tore at ~5 years, the crystal is chipped and scratched, and now the movement is probably dead again after another 4 years. The saddest part is that this watch is one of many, and has seen very light use. Although it sees almost daily use, it's in the evening around the house and overnight while I'm sleeping - it's by far the most comfortable watch I own, and has the best lume at night. For those reasons, and those reasons only, I am considering replacing it with a similar Luminox again...

I have beat the hell out of it in construction and in the ocean as well as in swimming pools. Its got tons of signs of wear and tear and to this date has not leaked or malfunctioned.

    Presumably if these watches are fake then they would be identifiable as such. It could be the materials or the time keeping etc.

    @steinman1746 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    If those are fake then my Luminox might be also. Regardless, my first Luminox was great and lasted forever. The one I have now had moisture beading up inside and I decided to open it up. This voids your warranty but my watches get used. The gasket was folded and caused the leak. I straightened the gasket out and set the watch in the window so the sun could warm it to get the moisture out. It was winter time so the air was dry. I left it there for about two or three hours and put it back together. It hasn't had any moisture in it since.

    Don't be so sure about buying from Amazon "direct". We were Amazon FBA sellers. (Fulfillment by Amazon). We ship our merchandise to Amazon in bulk for them to warehouse, process the transaction and ship to our customers. Unless we stuck our own personalized barcodes on every piece of merchandise, Amazon would co-mingle our stuff with other seller's identical merchandise in their warehouse INCLUDING AMAZON'S OWN LISTINGS. So you buy something from Amazon "direct", they just pull it from the bin of dozens of sellers with the same item. After a few incidences of our buyers complaining of receiving opened or damaged packaging, we started using our own barcodes. Our merch was now stored separately. When someone bought from our store, they received OUR merch. But every so often we would get a notice that Amazon used one of our items for their own transaction. The co-mingle bin was empty.

    I have a Luminox 8401 and it has performed flawlessly for the last five years. I'll admit to not caring for the plastic/carbon cases as they feel cheap on my wrist. In my opinion, the weak spot is definitely the straps. I have replaced on of those. That said, I'm still purchasing a 4221 this week because I like the look more than mine. I always buy all of my watches through an authorized dealer in LA (I live in PA) and still enjoy a 30% discount and free shipping which I feel is more than fair. I have never had to send one in for repairs, but I pay the extra money up front just in case I need to have them repaired. Amazon is a joke. Is it really worth saving $100 when you have nothing but problems with the timepiece? Pay the extra cash and make your life easier.

    I have worn Luminox since about 1995. But 20 years ago Luminox made a very high quality watch. Sorry to say that is not the case anymore. In recent years every single Luminox watch I have purchased has had issues taking on moisture just from rain, or washing hands, or swimming. This is unacceptable from a company that makes their mark by selling "DIVE WATCHES". Do yourself a favor. Save tons of money and have a watch that you can't kill under almost any circumstance...Buy Casio G-Shock. They have a bazillion styles from analog to crazy digital. The ones I have enjoyed the most are the GA-100SD in Sand Tan, the GA-100 All Black, and the GW-9300-1JF with Carbon Fiber strap. The GW-9300-1JF is Atomic/Solar, totally badass.

The other Luminox was a Navy Seal titanium watch, that still works. I've never bought another Luminox since the F117 died. I started back buying Casio and Citizen (and Chase Durer) which are still running despite the punishment I give them. Never put the Luminox under any stress. To me Luminox is just a poor timepiece.

Had a Luminox for ten years, beat the crap out of it at work etc. Fished with it in salt water, swam with it, never did any special care with it and never had any issues with it. Finally broke the Case at work and it gave out. Always buy watches from Brick and Mortar anything else and you are asking for trouble.

    you may not realize but waterproofing needs to be redone each year for any watch from a rolex on down, new gasket, retested, etc. furthermore, the watch may not go down farther than 3ft when used as surfing, but the water pressure of rushing surf will increase the measurable water pressure on the watch depending on how fast the surf/water rushes against it. MOST important is that NO watch (no matter what sales people say) should be exposed to hot tubs, hot water, hot showers, etc...this is a separate issue than depth, the heat will expand the watch allowing water to enter, then when the watch cools there will always be water in your watch which turns to mist when it is warm or hot, drops when cold. these waterproof watches are made for natural ranges of heat or cold, not hot showers or hot tubs...easiest way to ruin a watch or at least get water in it. i've been selling watches for 15 years and use some of the top watchmakers in the world to service my watches and have learned that most people, including watch salespeople, do not know many simple things...these among them.

    As some others have said. You're buying from Amazon. They ARE NOT an authorized retailer of Luminox. There are select places you can get them from that are authorized. If it's not an authorized retailer, you do not get a manufacturer's warranty to cover issues. The warranty is covered by a third party and NOT LUMINOX. And because they are not a authorized retailer, these pieces you have may very well NOT BE THE REAL THING! You know nothing for a fact and do not know where Amazon is getting their stock from because it's obviously not from Luminox. Do you really think Amazon could get their pieces straight from Luminox and resell them for so cheap? They'd lose hundreds of dollars a sale. You said yourself, Luminox told you you're not covered because that piece didn't come from Luminox. Hell the only authorized retailers around me personally are JEWELERS. You couldn't tell and apparently don't have an eye to tell whether or not it's a knock off. And not enough sense to not buy more than one after having issues with the first. You bought cheap and got cheap. Everyone serves a purpose. Even if it's as an example to others.

    I had the same issue with the little glass piece at the 12 o'clock missing. The "general overhaul" was $55. I bought my watch from an authorized retailer in 2007 and this is the first time I've needed the battery changed. The whole process of sending to them and having the work done are returned was about 2 weeks.

The dealer on amazon will not respond at all. Amazon said, "sorry, guess we need to find a way to stop these guys form selling these watches"....wth.
